Abstract

本发明提供一种传送定时控制IC和栅极驱动IC之间的控制信号的方式是新规定的液晶显示装置的驱动装置。本发明的液晶显示驱动装置,包括:定时控制部;具有移位寄存器和输出电路的栅极驱动部;激活所述移位寄存器的数据进位信号(STV)和控制所述输出电路的数据输出的信号(OE),控制信号传送线使用一根信号线传送。所述数据进位信号(STV)使用边缘触发方式,所述输出控制信号(OE)使用电平触发方式。为防止所述数据进位信号(STV)和所述输出控制信号(OE)的重复,利用所述移位寄存器,在锁存了所述数据进位信号(STV)的时刻的一个时钟周期后传送所述输出控制信号(OE)。

驱动液晶显示装置的装置
技术领域
本发明涉及液晶显示装置,特别涉及传送定时控制IC和栅极驱动IC之间的控制信号的方式是新规定的液晶显示装置的驱动装置。
背景技术
为驱动现有的液晶显示装置(Liquid Crystal Display:LCD),在LCD屏板中需要有驱动IC(Integrated Circuit)、定时控制机ASIC和模拟电路。定时控制机ASIC的主要作用是通过主接口(Host Interface)接收RGB信号,在各源极驱动IC中分配数据,控制栅极驱动IC。
以控制源极驱动IC为目的,在定时控制机ASIC中产生的主要控制信号由向源极驱动IC通知数据开始的进位信号(STH)、通知输出电压的极性的信号(POL)以及通知数据锁存器和输出的信号(LOAD)等组成。而且,以控制驱动TFT的栅极驱动IC为目的,在定时控制机ASIC中产生的主要控制信号由向栅极驱动IC通知数据开始的进位信号(STV)、IC的驱动定时信号(CPV)和输出控制信号(OE)组成。
TFT LCD模块的控制IC将像素驱动IC的图像数据和控制信号在印刷电路板上以总线形式传送。这时,设计36至48个图像信号和10多个控制信号时需要难度非常高的技术。特别是在没有印刷电路板的栅极(Gate PCB less)的开发中,向栅极驱动IC的布线必需在玻璃上制作图形,因此需要很高难度的技术。
在此,因为原有LCD驱动IC的数据必须包括基本图像数据和各种用于信号处理的数据,所以必须减少。特别是分辨率和数据比特(data bit)上升时为进行PCB的最佳设计,特别需要减少信号。
发明内容
本发明的目的是使栅极驱动IC的信号线减少。
为实现所述目的,本发明的液晶显示装置的驱动装置,包括:定时控制部;具有移位寄存器和输出电路的栅极驱动部;控制信号传送线,通过使用一根信号线传送:激活所述移位寄存器的数据进位信号(STV)和控制所述输出电路的数据输出的信号(OE)。所述数据进位信号(STV)使用上升边缘触发方式,所述输出控制信号(OE)使用电平触发方式。为防止所述数据进位信号(STV)和所述输出控制信号(OE)的重复,利用所述移位寄存器,在锁存了所述数据进位信号(STV)的时刻的一个时钟周期后传送所述输出控制信号(OE)。
以上所述的本发明的目的和其他特征和优点等,可通过下面参照附图对本发明的优选实施例进行以下说明加以明确。

具体实施方式
以下参照附图详细说明本发明的一个实施例。附图中相同参考标号用来表示同一个或类似的结构要素或信号。
目前使用的TFT LCD的驱动概略图与图1中图示的相同。源极驱动IC将在控制机中按照点时钟(dot clock)顺次输入的RGB的各个数据锁存,从点顺次方式的定时体系变为线顺次方式。在每个水平线的周期,与转移起动信号协调,保存在第1锁存器的数据传达到第2锁存器。第2锁存器中保存的数据在模拟/数字转换器中被转换成模拟电压,接着经过电流缓冲器施加到数据线。为进行这样的数据变换,作为基本的控制信号需要如下的信号。在图1中,图纸标号102是传送机IC、104是LCD模块、106是定时控制机IC、108是源极驱动IC、110是栅极驱动IC。另外,DE是数据起动信号(data enablesignal)、CLK是水平时钟信号(horizontal clock signal)、STH是数据锁存起动信号(data latch enable signal)、POL是输出极性信号(output polarity signal)、LOAD是数据输出信号(data output signai)、CPV是垂直时钟脉冲信号(verticalclock pulse signal)、STV是开始垂直脉冲信号(start vertical pulse signal)、OE是在一帧间初始化栅极驱动IC的栅极输出控制信号。
驱动IC的内部方框图如图2所示。在图2中,图纸标号202是移位寄存器、204是电源发生电路、206是电平移相器、208是输出电路。另外,VGL、VGH、VCOM、GND是具有规定电平的标准电压信号。
现在使用的OE信号有2种作用。最初是为了初始状态的稳定化,有意地在1帧间起防止栅极输出的作用,第2是为了使输出脉冲的样子周期性地变形,在一定区间周期地防止输出的作用。本发明提出用于第一作用的OE信号线与STV信号线统一使用的方案。虽然用于第二作用的OE信号不能使用,但考虑到由模拟电源样的变形和Load信号的延迟可符合定时,因此在驱动中没有问题。
图3是用于一般的栅极驱动IC的驱动的时序图。通过使用OE信号,可谋求初始稳定化。在CPV的上升缘锁定SEV同时送出输出,控制在规则的定时的OE信号下栅极输出脉冲的样子。
一般的推荐在初期开始时使用OE信号,但通过使用OE信号,在最小限度1帧以上初始化栅极,可防止LCD模块的过度的电压下降。在接通电源时不能初始化栅极时,一般的,因为栅极驱动器的内部寄存器的初始值未知(unknown),如初始值是“1”时,具有“1”的栅极的通道一次打开,所以会施加瞬间的过负荷。在XGA的情况下,在768线中,根据在何种程度上内部寄存器是“1”而产生不同结果,由此影响VDD,由于VDD的下降产生发生重起动的情况。
该方法的电源接通时,在不使用OE信号时解决上述问题的其他方法是设计芯片使得内部寄存器的初始值为“0”,但为了如以上问题以外的电源序列问题等的初期安全性,需要有意识地防止通过OE信号的输出。这样,在该初期防止期间,是768个内部寄存器全部为“0 ”需要一帧以上的时间,但是,在没有印刷电路板的栅极开发中,到栅极驱动IC的布线必须在玻璃上制作图案,因此实际情况是由于空间狭小问题,一直要求减少栅极驱动控制的信号。
为使一般的驱动时的OE信号使用定时和STV信号使用定时不同,所以必须采用使用一根信号线的传送方式,为使STV的高区间的间隔成为禁止输出的区域,必须调节时序使得不会妨碍作为目的的实际数据的输出。参见图4中图示的时序图,为使STV与OE共同使用,所以具有禁止初期输出的区域,为使一般驱动时起动信号作用,可以在每一帧设有脉冲。为了不妨碍数据输出而提出的方案,也可以与现有使用方法不同,利用移位寄存器,在STV锁存后的时刻一个时钟以后输出。
按照如前所述的本发明,驱动TFT LCD所必须的控制信号减少了。因此,由于线的减少,带来PCB设计更加容易,信号干涉现象减少的优点。而且,在玻璃上配置布线时可容易地灵活利用空间,在时序控制器的开发时,可使电路块简单化,使面积减小。
以上通过实施例详细说明了本发明,但本发明不受实施例限制,本发明所属技术领域的具有通常知识的人,在不脱离本发明的思想和精神的情况下,可对本发明进行修改和变更。

Claims (3)

1、一种液晶显示装置的驱动装置,包括:
定时控制部;
具有移位寄存器和输出电路的栅极驱动部;
控制信号传送线,通过使用一根信号线传送:激活所述移位寄存器的数据进位信号和控制所述输出电路的数据输出的输出控制信号。
2、如权利要求1所述的液晶显示装置的驱动装置,其特征在于:
所述数据进位信号使用上升边缘触发方式,所述输出控制信号使用电平触发方式。
3、如权利要求1所述的液晶显示装置的驱动装置,其特征在于:
为防止所述数据进位信号和所述输出控制信号的重复,利用所述移位寄存器,在锁存了所述数据进位信号的时刻的一个时钟周期后传送所述输出控制信号。
