Abstract
Un método electroquímico para separar impurezas de soluciones acuosas, que comprende las etapas de: hacer circular una solución acuosa de alimentación que contiene un ion de<br /> impureza a una cámara de cátodo de una celda electroquímica que contiene un cátodo;<br /> hacer circular una solución ácida de electrolito a una cámara de ánodo que contiene un ánodo;<br /> separar la cámara de ánodo de la cámara de cátodo con una cámara central, para formar una celda de 3 cámaras, que tiene una membrana de intercambio de aniones que forma un límite entre la cámara de cátodo y la cámara central, y una membrana de intercambio de cationes que forma un límite entre la cámara de ánodo y la cámara central; hacer circular o añadir una solución de cloruro dentro o hacia la cámara central; aplicar una corriente a través del ánodo y el cátodo para facilitar que los iones hidrógeno generados en el ánodo migren a través de la membrana de<br /> intercambio de cationes hacia la cámara central, y los iones cloruro generados en la cámara de cátodo migren a través de la membrana de intercambio de aniones a la cámara central para formar ácido clorhídrico; donde los iones de impurezas precipitan como compuestos de hidróxido en la camara de cátodo para producir una solución con impurezas reducidas.
