La fig. 1 est une vue schématique en élévation de côté et coupe partielle d'ungé- nérateur de vapeur pourvu d'un appareil établi selon l'invention; La fig. 2 donne une coupe transversale de ce générateurà l*endroit où se fait la prise des produits de combustion dans le foyer; La fig. *3 est une vue séparée, en éléva tion de face d'un appareil doubleà réglage de l'amenée d'air et des produits de combus tion;
Method of heating applicable to the hearths of steam generators and apparatus for carrying out this process. This invention relates to a heating method applicable to the hearths of steam generators as well as to an apparatus for carrying out this method.
This process consists of a sucking a given quantity of combustion products into the. hearth even by the action of a current of air under pressure and to return under the grate the mixture thus formed of air and combustion products, mixture, the temperature of which is determined by the adjustment, on the one hand, of the quantity of air serving for the suction of combustion products and, on the other hand, of the quantity of these products.
The apparatus for carrying out this process is characterized by a mixing tube provided with a pipe for injecting pressurized air, this tube being connected to its upper part directly to the hearth of the steam generator and to its lower part, by a conical nozzle, to the ashtray of the fireplace and being provided with devices to regulate the supply of the products sucked from the fireplace as well as the mixed air to </ B> these products. The accompanying drawing shows, as by way of example, an embodiment of the apparatus used for carrying out the process.
Fig. 1 is a schematic side elevational view in partial section of a steam generator provided with an apparatus established according to the invention; Fig. 2 gives a cross section of this generator at the place where the combustion products are taken into the fireplace; Fig. * 3 is a separate front elevation view of a dual device with adjustment of the air supply and the combustion products;
Fig. 4 is a side view of the apparatus according to FIG. 3; In the hearth 1 of the generator are arranged, in the wall 3 (fig. 2), openings 4 arranged in the upper part of the fireplace above the actual combustion zone.
These openings, two in number in the example shown, each communicate with a mixing tube 5 of suitable diameter, connected to its lower part to </ B> a conical nozzle 6 itself connected by an elbow 7 to the ashtray 8 under the grid 9 of the hearth. In the mixing tube 5 opens, at the level of the opening 4, an air injection pipe 10 connected to a pipe 11 coming from an air compressor 12.
Between the opening 4 and the mixing tube 5 - is placed an adjustment device, for example a register 13 allowing to adjust the passage of the gases from the fireplace to the mixing tube 5; likewise the upper part 14 of the mixing tube 5 can be provided with an adjustment device making it possible to admit into the mixing tube 5 </ B> an adjustable quantity of air taken from the atmosphere as indicated by the arrow 15.
Under these conditions, if the air compressor is turned on when the fireplace is in operation, the pressurized air injected through the pipe 10 into the mixing tube 5 causes a suction of inert gases and at very high temperature from the hearth 2, through opening 4 and entrainment of atmospheric air through the air intake 14.
The whole mixes in the tube 5, relaxes more or less in the conical nozzle 6 and enters through the elbow 7 in the ashtray 8, crosses the grate 9 and the fuel carried by it and determines reactions favoring the production of gas. fuel that burns at a certain distance from the igniting fuel layer.
The operation of the register 13 and of the air intake device 14, as well as the adjustment of the pressure and of the quantity of air supplied by the injector 10 make it possible to adjust as desired the composition and temperature of the mixture formed in the mixing tube 5. Thanks to the high temperature of the gases sucked into the hearth 2, this mixture has at the inlet of the mixing tube 5 a very high temperature which is brought back by the path in the mixing tube 5 and nozzle 6 and by the addition of cold air at the operating temperature necessary for the most favorable operation.
Experience shows that it is thus possible to consume the coals on the grate of the hearth with an excess of air not exceeding 20 0 /,) the theoretical quantity of air and corresponding substantially to </ B> a carbon dioxide content of 17 ", / o.
The device can include several gas outlets 4 as in the example of FIG. 1. It is also small and has a single plug cooperating with several mixing tubes as shown in fig. 3 and 4 in which a take of. gas 4 provided with a register 13 cooperates with a single head 15 provided with two pipes 10 for injection of air and two mixing tubes 5 connected by the nozzles 6 to the elbow 7 leading to the ash box. In this example, the head 15 of the device is fitted with a lateral air intake 16 with an adjustment device 17.
