Method for spraying liquid fuel, and device for its implementation. Fuel oil is an abundant and inexpensive liquid fuel, but until now its use has been dependent on the existence of very large and therefore very expensive facilities. Indeed, to be burned correctly, the fuel oil must be projected in the form of mist in the rooms; combustion. There are different methods to achieve this result, but they require the use of high pressure pumps or the intervention of a compressed fluid.
The present invention comprises a spraying process which makes it possible to obtain this result in a simple and economical manner, as well as a device for carrying out this process, process and device which can also be applied and used for spraying. other liquid fuels such as, for example, diesel or petroleum.
According to the method of spraying liquid fuel that the invention comprises, the fuel is sprayed into the combustion chamber using low pressure and superheated water vapor, which is produced by means of the, heat released by the. actual combustion of the projected fuel.
The production of the steam in question, during ignition, can be obtained by any known auxiliary means, for example by feeding the burner (s) using an auxiliary pump or by using the. heat from an auxiliary source. The device also included in the invention is characterized by a boiler-tube supplied with water through an adjustable shut-off valve, the upper part of which is placed in the field of the combustion flame and which communicates, by a vapor intake pipe crossing said field, with a liquid fuel sprayer.
The accompanying drawing shows, in schematic section and through. by way of example, an embodiment of the device that comprises the invention.
The device shown comprises a sprayer comprising a liquid fuel inlet tube 1 surrounded by a coaxial tube 2 terminated by a spraying mouth 3 and connected, at the rear, to a vapor pipe 4 which passes in front of it. said sprayer, in the field of the combustion flame of the sprayed liquid fuel and is connected to the upper part of a boiler tube 5, slightly inclined on the axis of the sprayer. Tube 5.
arranged so that its upper part is also in the field of the combustion flame, is supplied with water, through an orifice 6 controlled by a pin 7 integral with a float 8, using a pipe 9 on which is interposed a net adjustment valve 10. A double nozzle 11 is arranged in the extension of the mouth 3 of the sprayer in order to allow the correct dosage of the combustion air.
The device shown operates as follows: The liquid fuel is supplied through the tube 1, under the pressure simply necessary for its flow, the reservoir containing it being for example slightly loaded with respect to the sprayer. On the other hand, the water is brought under a pressure of 200 grams per cm2 approximately, to the boiler tube 5, through the tap 10, the orifice 6 and the chamber of the float 8, the latter having the role of maintain the water in the boiler tube 5 at a level determined in advance, the pin 7, which follows the movement of the float 8,
from closing the orifice 6 as soon as the water has reached said level.
When the device is in operation, the flame which it produces comes into contact with the upper part of the tube 5, the water which is in the latter thus being heated and vaporized by conductivity and radiating. The steam thus produced, at a pressure which cannot be greater than that of the feed water, i.e. about 200 g per cm2, is superheated, both in the steam chamber of tube 5, which is in contact direct with the flame, and in the steam pipe 4 through which it goes into the annular space between the tubes 1 and 2 of the sprayer.
This heat very energetically heats the fuel contained in the central tube and then, escaping through the nozzle 3, easily entrains, in the form of an extremely fine mist, the fuel itself already brought to high temperature. The entrained fuel is mixed with the air entering through the rear of the elements of the double nozzle 11, which allows its combustion.
To start - the device thus formed, the fuel under pressure can be introduced temporarily into the tube 1 using an auxiliary pump and the vaporization of the vapor is determined. water contained in tube 5 by heating the latter using an auxiliary heat source.
Thanks to the measures adopted, the risk of an abrupt production of an excess of steam is avoided, due to the fact that the mass of water contained in the tube 5 is outside the fire zone, and that, if one, excess of production of steam tends to start, the water is slightly forced back into a cooler zone and an equilibrium position is easily determined by itself. On the other hand, the positive device shown makes it possible, without piping complications, to maintain the zone in which the steam is located at a very high temperature, thus ensuring, in a very simple manner, the necessary production of very superheated steam.
Finally, the device is very easily descalable, the parts in which there is a risk of lime deposits being produced being able to be made easily accessible by using, for the assembly of the tubes, the removable couplings which are found on the market. , these connections, perfectly known, not having been shown in the drawing for simplicity. This characteristic makes it possible to use ordinary water, without it being necessary to subject it to any purification.
The float 8 and its needle 7 can be removed if necessary, but it is then necessary to carry out a precise adjustment of the water flow rate using the tap 10, in order to compensate exactly for the quantity of water vaporized at every moment.
