Device for starting combustion engines by means of an electric motor. In the main patent, an electromotive starting device for internal combustion engines is described in which an intermediate gear pivotable between the pinion and the gear is carried along by an electromagnetically actuated coupling member; after a handle has taken place, the intermediate gear disengages automatically as soon as it has come into engagement with the aforementioned two gears.
An electromagnetically operated switch is used to switch the starter motor on and off, which automatically switches the starter motor off when the internal combustion engine is running.
According to the present invention, the two electromagnetically operated organs, the coupling member and the automatic main switch, are combined.
The way in which this combination can be carried out, for example, is illustrated in the drawing, in which FIG. 1 shows a circuit diagram for the starter motor, and FIGS. 2 and 3 show structural details of the starter device in transverse and longitudinal sections, FIG. 2 shows the section along the line AB. In the device shown, it is possible to switch on the motor via a resistance level. .
The names are, where it appeared appropriate, from the main or Additional patent accepted. For example, a means the starting electric motor that drives the internal combustion engine via the intermediate gear b, <I> d, <B> d </B>, c </I>, where <I> d </I> and <B> d </B> is the pivotable intermediate transmission mounted in the tilting sleeve e.
This is engaged by exciting the electromagnetic clutch f, s, * on whose movable armature the switching element i of the main switch is insulated and attached.
The mode of operation is now as follows: After the push button 7c is closed. is, the coil f is excited by the battery <I> m </I> and pulls the armature disk s until the guide pins E hit the locking plate ir. From this the tip sleeve e is pressed against the brake disc v, which sits on a square of the motor shaft. The main switch i then closes contact 1, whereby the motor a is switched on via the resistor w and begins to run.
The now rotating disk t> takes the tilting sleeve e with it by the angle a through friction and engages the intermediate transmission <I> d, d '</I> in the ring gear c of the internal combustion engine.
If the tilting sleeve has rotated through the angle tf during this engaging movement, it takes the locking plate it with it, namely until the guide pins L meet with the holes x of the plate u, so that the armature disk s un is now prevented from being attracted further.
The main switch i moves to the contact? before, and the starter motor c can develop its full torque. After the guide pins t, have been pushed in completely, the pressure on the brake disc o ceases, the tilting sleeve e is released and thrown out of engagement with the first explosions of the internal combustion engine.
As soon as the push button ls is released, the armature s is released by the pressure of the spring z, from the magnet <I> f, </I> the switch i switches off, the starter motor a stops and the locking plate it returns under the We return the spring y to its initial position.
