Ce frein comporte titi levier de commande sur lequel est pivoté titi galet à gorge en traîné par ce levier dans ses déplacements, une boucle simple, formée star l'organe de transmission souple, passant dans la gorge dit galet et dont les deux brins dirigés dans le même sens sont reliés chacun ;
't au moins un organe freinant, le tout disposé (le telle sorte que, lorsque le levier de commande est actionné, soit action est transmise atttonia- tiqttenient et uniformément, par les deux brins de l'organe de transmission souple, aux organes freinants par rotation du galet per mettant it cet organe de transmission de se déplacer dans la gorge dit galet.
La première forme d'exécution est u ii frein double. pour bicyclettes et motocyclettes, re présenté en<B>fi-.</B> 1 en élévation latérale, en fig. 2 en plan, en<B>fi-.</B> .3 en coupe verticale, en fig. 1 en vue par bout du côté opposé au levier de manceuvre, et en fig. b, appliquée < mie hicyclette, mais dans une position renversée en regard de celle des fig. 1 à 4;
fi-. t> représente en perpective une seconde forme d'exécution appliquée à une voiture automobile. comportant deux organes freinants arrière: fig. l montre en perpective une troi,ienie forme d'exécution appliquée à une voiture automobile comportant deux couples d'organes freinants, avant et arrière;
fi-. 8 représente. en élévation partie en coupe, la quatrième forme d'exécution appliquée à une voiture automobile comportant deux couples d'organes freinants avant et arrière; fig. 9 est une coupe horizontale faite suivant la ligne IV- Il" de la fig. 8 ; fig. 10 est une vue de côté, partie en coupe, prise depuis la droite de la<B>fi,-.</B> 8; fig. 11 est une vue cor respondant à la fig. 8, mais avec des arrache ments;
Multiple brake with flexible transmission. The present invention relates to a multiple brake with flexible transmission, which can for example be applied to bicycles, motor cycles, motor vehicles etc., with a view to ensuring the uniformity of action of the control, on all the braking members, by the operation of a single lever.
This brake comprises titi control lever on which is pivoted titi grooved roller dragged by this lever in its movements, a simple loop, formed star the flexible transmission member, passing through the groove said roller and whose two strands directed in the same meaning are connected each;
't at least one braking member, the whole arranged (the such that, when the control lever is actuated, either action is transmitted atttonia- tiqttenient and uniformly, by the two strands of the flexible transmission member, to the braking members by rotation of the roller allowing this transmission member to move in the groove said roller.
This brake has the following advantages 1 By the simultaneous action of each component braking the vehicle. accidents due to the lack of concordance of action of the various braking members between them are avoided.
It makes it possible to multiply the braking couples .9 #oi anes and to actuate these couples simultaneously and with a concordance by made.
Four embodiments of this brake have been given, as examples, in the accompanying drawing.
The first embodiment is a double brake. for bicycles and motorcycles, shown in <B> fi-. </B> 1 in side elevation, in fig. 2 in plan, in <B> fi-. </B>. 3 in vertical section, in fig. 1 in end view of the side opposite the operating lever, and in FIG. b, applied to the bicycle, but in an inverted position facing that of figs. 1 to 4;
fi-. t> represents in perspective a second embodiment applied to a motor car. comprising two rear braking devices: fig. l shows in perspective a three, ienie embodiment applied to a motor vehicle comprising two pairs of braking members, front and rear;
fi-. 8 represents. in elevation partly in section, the fourth embodiment applied to a motor vehicle comprising two pairs of front and rear braking members; fig. 9 is a horizontal section taken on the line IV- II "of Fig. 8; Fig. 10 is a side view, partly in section, taken from the right of the <B> fi, -. </B> 8 Fig. 11 is a view corresponding to Fig. 8, but with cutouts;
fig. l'_ 'is a view corresponding to FIG. 8, but with cutouts other than those of fig. 11, and fig. 1 3 is a horizontal section taken along the line IF-IV 'of FIG. 1 \ 3.
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 5, and applied to a bicycle, the double brake comprises a single operating lever placed in the extension of the <B> handlebar </B> This lever is terminated, at one of its ends, by a yoke a 'between the cheeks of which is arranged a grooved roller c which it carries with it during its movements. while it is rotated, as indicated by the arrow h fig. 1, around a lower axis <I> d </I> carried by a collar e fixed to the handlebars b of the bicycle.
The upper part of the collar P is mounted on a spout e 'having two parallel cylindrical recesses and superimposed c = in which the sheath f of the member for flexible transmission to the wire f' is stopped. In addition, each of these recesses is pierced, along its axis, with a small light e3 of the tinée to allow the central metal wire f 'of said transmission to pass.
This wire coming from the two braking members y of the front wheel and g 'of the rear wheel, fig. 5, forms a simple loop f \ behind said slots and passing in the groove of the roller c carried by the inanceuvre lever cc.
This flexible transmission is, by means not shown in the drawing, suitably guided on the frame of the bicycle to go to connect to the braking members g and y '.
It is easy to understand that by exerting pressure on the operating lever <I> a </I> in the direction of the arrow h. fig. 1, the latter will pivot around its axis d from which there will be an action on the two braking members by traction on the single loop f = of the flexible transmission, via the grooved roller c. This action on the two braking members will be uniform, because the grooved roller, by its rotation, will ensure this uniformity if necessary by allowing automatic adjustment of the traction exerted on the two strands of the transmission.
In the second embodiment, <B> fi--. </B> tee, applied to a motor vehicle with two braking members, the brake comprises an operating lever <I> a </I> with a wedged pedal on a shaft i secured to a small fork lever, carrying the grooved roller c over which the loop passes. single of the central wire f 'or flexible transmission.
The third embodiment, applied to a motor vehicle with two pairs of front and rear braking members, fi <B> g. </B> 7, comprises him inanceuvre lever cz. by hand, wedged on a sc @ liclaire shaft of a small fork lever j carrying a roller <, groove, on which passes the single loop of the central wire f 'or flexible transmission; the two strands j 'of the latter receive at their ends.
the two grooved rollers c 'of two flexible transmissions f' of the two pairs of braking organs of this car, one couple for the front wheels, one couple for the rear wheels. The operation of this form of execution is easily understood without more.
The fourth embodiment, fig. 8 to. 13, applied to a motor vehicle also comprising two pairs of front and rear braking members, comprises a control lever 4 and a grooved roller B on which passes the single loop of the cable C of the flexible transmission, of which the two ends moths will attach to the deus: braking golden couples.
The control lever 4, articub '<I> en </I> L @ on a lever l', is operated either by hand or by foot. In addition, this control is combined and adjusted in such a way that the engine disengaging the engine has always been linked before the action of the braking members.
Strand C 'of cable C goes to the front braking devices, while the strand (.'2 of the same cable goes to the rear braking devices. The sheath (2 "of this cable is stopped by a lug I' fixed to the ch @ issis of the car.
For the operation at. the simultaneous hand of the two pairs of braking members, the roller control lever A. groove B is pushed in the direction of the arrow fig. 8 by titi roller F mounted on the axis F 'integral with a lever R articulated in h and a sliding rod (: - articulated in H on the hand lever <I> I </I> articulated <I > in I '</I> and moved from left to right in line 8.
The length of the sliding rod G is adjustable by means of the nut device (z 'screwing on the ni1rrr- drin G "which can move in the sliding sleeve Gl of the rod G.
So that the action of this command is preceded by a pr (@alable of the motor, the same rod (r has on the side a roller <I> .7 </I> mounted on the axis <I> J '</I> and acting on an angled lever Zi in an articulated angle ci) L ut which pulls on the collar .1l of a clutch sleeve 111' of the engine.
By returning the hand lever I to its rest position, i.e. from right to left, <B> fi-. </B> 8. the eoniniande lever 1 returns to its place before the bracket Ii has not released the clutch. During this time, the positive foot control device remained at rest.
To simultaneously actuate the two pairs of braking members with the foot, a pedal articulated in <I> It </I> comprises a toothed sector acting on it, another toothed sector @) articulated in P and (presents it on its side. Q roller mounted on an axis Ql 'at its free end 0j, the whole.
from fat-on to push him lever <I> R </I> articulated in <I> D </I> and integral, by the axis F ', with the rod G and the roller F arranged on the side and actuating directly the lever -l whose yoke carries the grooved roller B.
During this time, the sleeve (T! 'Of the rod' r slide G has moved on the handle G; ', so (read the two braking or ganes couples can be actuated by only one of the two controls by hand or by foot, indifferently, or even simultaneously by the two controls In all cases, the motor is always disengaged before braking and the motor is engaged only when the braking devices are no longer in operation. action.
A multiple brake according to the invention can also be applied to devices other than bicycles, motorcycles, motor vehicles etc.
The components of a brake according to the invention can be made of various materials and dimensions, and differ in shape and arrangement from those described with regard to the drawing.
