Device for automatically lifting a motor vehicle. The object of the invention is a device which makes it possible to automatically lift, by means of the engine, a motor vehicle, quickly for repairs or for any other purpose.
This device comprises two lifting devices fixed one at the front and the other at the rear of the vehicle and controlled by the engine, means making it possible to actuate them together or separately.
The accompanying drawing, given by way of example, shows one of the embodiments of this invention.
Fig. 1 represents tin of the vage devices adapted to the vehicle; Fig. 2 is a quick partial plan; Fig. 3 is a detail view; Fig. 4 shows on a smaller scale a control system for the two lifting devices, actuated by the motor.
The lifting device shown in fig. 1 and 2 attaches to the front axle 1 and includes two racks 2 and 2 # 1 meshed with pinions of the same diameter 3 and 3 meshing together. The pinion 3 is integral with a pinion 4 wedged on the same axis and meshing with a smaller pinion 5. The latter is integral with a pinion G engaged with a toothed wheel 7 wedged on an axis 8 on which are wedged; on the other hand, two ratchet wheels 9 and 9 "whose teeth are directed in the opposite direction. On the axis 8 can oscillate an arm 10 carrying a double pawl 11, 11 mounted on an axis 12.
This can rotate in the arm 10 and carries a crankpin 13 subjected to the action of a coil spring 14 fixed to the arm 10. Depending on whether the crankpin 13 is brought to the left or to the right, the pawl 11 with wheel 9 or pawl 11, with wheel 9,1, which will reverse the direction of movement of the system. These rocking wheels receive their rotational movement by the oscillation of the arm 10 controlled by the connecting rod 15 driven in a reciprocating movement.
For this purpose, the connecting rod 15 is articulated (fig. 4) on a crank 16 fixed on the shaft 17. The latter oscillates under the action of a crank 18 connected Ù, the rod 19 of an excen- rod 20 mounted on the shaft 21 of the vehicle gearbox.
As a result, the racks 2 and 2 "are placed by the action of the engine and raise the vehicle when their feet are resting on the ground. In fact, the housing 22 of the hoist is fixed. to the front axle 1, for example by means of flanges or lugs 23, 23, (Fig. 3) or by other appropriate members.
To automatically stop the movement of the racks at the end of their travel, in one direction or the other, the ratchet wheels 9 and 9a have a smooth part 91 '(FIG. 1). When the pawl falls on this non-toothed part, it no longer has any grip on the wheel <1 ratchet and the movement of the racks stops. To move them in sen. on the contrary, it suffices to bring the crankpin 13 to its other position.
A similar lifting device is attached to the rear of the vehicle, for example to the rear polish. This device is controlled like the previous one, by means of a connecting rod 15 "articulated on a crank 161 wedged on the shaft 19 (FIG. 4) described above.
The shaft 17, arranged along the chassis of the vehicle is provided with two cranks 16 and 1611, one at each end of the common shaft, which thus control the two lifting devices at the same time or separately depending on whether the pawls of the devices are tilted to one side or the other.
Indeed; as it was said above; the movement of the racks, in one direction or the other, stops automatically at the top and bottom limit switches; thanks to the smooth parts 9b. provided on the rocker wheels 9 and 9n. The pawls 11, 11-1 can therefore continue to move, without acting on the ratchet wheels, once they have fallen onto the smooth part of these wheels.
These smooth parts are laid on the wheels in such a way that if one of the pawls falls into the smooth part of its wheel. the other, on the contrary, attacks its wheel with the first tooth, if the pawls are tilted. In the position shown in fig. 1; for example, the racks are fully raised. If in this position, we folded the pawl 11'1, it would fall on the smooth part of its ratchet wheel 9-1 and would therefore have no action.
On the other hand, the pawl 11 is engaged with the first (slow speed of its wheel 9 and if the arm 10 bones, the racks will descend to their extreme bottom position, in which they will automatically stop. the pawl 11 then bearing on the smooth part 911. To raise the racks, it will be necessary to back off the pawls, to bring ll.a into engagement with the wheel 911.
It is thus possible either to actuate the racks or to keep them at rest, depending on whether the pawls are tilted to one side. or the other, which makes it possible to control the two lifting devices together or separately. according to the position that will be given to their pawls.
To stop the operation of the lifting devices without stopping the engine, it is possible to provide in the eccentric 20 a smooth neck 20′l allowing its center to coincide with the center of the shaft 21, that is to say to remove the eccentricity and, consequently, the movement of the eccentric.
This device therefore makes it possible to lift the wheels two by two, either at the front or at the rear, or all four at the same time. the car then being lifted vertically. This makes it possible to change a front tire on the road. with a rear tire; or keep the car raised in the garage to avoid tire fatigue. On the other hand, all the inconveniences and inconveniences of ordinary jacks are avoided and a smooth and regular lifting is achieved, without the need to unload the car.
