Domaine technique
Technical area
The present invention relates to a mechanical oscillator for a watch movement, in particular of the type comprising first and second pendants respectively associated with first and second spirals. The invention also relates to a mechanical resonator comprising a mechanical oscillator of this type and a watch movement comprising such a resonator and a timepiece comprising such a movement.
State of the art
Oscillators of this type and the corresponding timepieces have already been disclosed.
For example, we can find an analysis report of a wristwatch of this type produced by the company F.-P. Day at: http://www.thepurists.net/Patrons/members/felipe/ResonanceReview/Revi ew.html.
This wristwatch comprises two sprung balance assemblies each of which is associated with an escapement. The two rockers are arranged close to each other in such a way that they have a resonance without contact being established between them. The two resonators thus formed are used to control two adjacent counters for displaying the time.
The corresponding watch movement thus comprises not only two identical mechanical oscillators, but also two escapements and two gear trains for driving two sets of hour and minute hands to compare the relative steps of the two oscillators.
The contribution of the phenomenon of resonance to the regularity of this watch movement is limited and allows above all to achieve a playful display, especially as this phenomenon of resonance, very sensitive, can be easily disturbed by the movements of the wearer of the wristwatch, especially in case of shocks. Thus, a permanent resonance regime is rarely established when the watch is worn, the slightest disturbance causing a return of the oscillator in its transient state.
Disclosure of the invention
A main object of the present invention is to further exploit the phenomenon of mechanical resonance with reference to watch movements known from the prior art, by proposing a mechanical oscillator constructed to have a mechanical resonance whose transient state is extremely short and whose sensitivity to the movements of the wearer of the watch is significantly reduced compared to known systems.
For this purpose, the present invention relates more particularly to a mechanical oscillator of the type mentioned above, characterized in that the rockers are toothed and arranged in engagement with each other.
Such a characteristic ensures stability of the resonance between the two rockers.
Preferably, the first and second spirals are wound in the same direction relative to each other so that one relaxes when the other contracts and vice versa. Thus, the influences of the stress states of the two spirals on the oscillations of the balances compensate perfectly each moment, more particularly when the oscillator is placed in a substantially vertical plane.
According to a preferred embodiment, the mechanical oscillator is associated with a single escapement whose regularity of the operating frequency is improved by the resonance phenomenon involved between the two balance-springs.
With these characteristics, the regularity of a conventional display of the hour is significantly improved over the results obtained with an oscillator of the type already known.
Furthermore, the mechanical oscillator according to the invention, which may advantageously be implemented in a rotating cage, in a non-limiting manner, may equip a watch movement intended to be housed in a wristwatch box.
Brief description of the drawings
Other features and advantages of the present invention will appear more clearly on reading the detailed description of a preferred embodiment which follows, with reference to the accompanying drawing given by way of non-limiting example and in which :
[0015] - FIG. 1 is a simplified front view of a mechanical resonator provided with a mechanical oscillator according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention.
Mode (s) of realization of the invention
FIG. 1 shows a front view of a construction detail of a watch movement comprising a mechanical oscillator according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention. More specifically, the mechanical oscillator is here mounted in a cage, similar to that of a vortex or a carousel, which is intended to be rotatably mounted on a watch movement frame.
The mechanical oscillator of FIG. 1comporte a first toothed balance 1 associated with a first hairspring 2, wound clockwise in the figure from its outer turn 3 to its inner turn.
A second toothed rocker 5 is associated with a second spiral 6, wound in the same direction as the first spiral 1.
The first and second toothed rockers 1 and 5 are arranged substantially in the same general plane being engaged with each other. Consequently, they rotate continuously with opposite directions of rotation, so that their respective spirals have opposite behaviors. Indeed, when one of the spirals contracts, the other relaxes and vice versa.
Preferably, the spirals have similar or identical characteristics, in terms of shape, dimensions, material and mechanical properties.
The spirals therefore act on their respective rockers in a perfectly asymmetrical manner. The influences of the stress states of the two spirals on the oscillations of the balances compensate each other perfectly, which is all the more important when the oscillator is placed in a substantially vertical plane and undergoes the effects of Earth's gravity.
In other words, the spirals have an asymmetrical deployment giving rise to a permanent mutual correction of the force they transmit to their respective balances, ensuring exceptional running regularity of the complete oscillator.
Balancers 1 and 5 are rotatably mounted in a cage 8, their respective shafts being housed in bearings 10 carried by upper bridges 11 and lower 12 of the cage.
The bridges 11 and 12 also each carry an additional bearing 15 for housing a shaft (not shown) for mounting the cage 8 on a watch movement frame.
An escape mechanism, including an escape wheel 16 and an anchor 17, cooperates with the first toothed balance 1, in a conventional manner. Indeed, it can simply provide that the anchor, Swiss anchor type for illustrative non-limiting, comprises a sting cooperating with a fixed plate of the shaft of the first beam 1, in a known manner.
The skilled person may, for example, provide that the escape wheel is integral with an exhaust pinion arranged in engagement with a wheel having an internal and fixed toothing relative to the frame of the watch movement, while a pinion integral with the cage 8 is engaged with a barrel by means of a finishing train.
With this construction of tourbillon or carousel type, the mechanical oscillator according to the present preferred embodiment of the present invention clearly improves the known phenomenon of the compensation of disturbances related to gravity on the operation of the oscillator, by the implementation of an additional and permanent compensation resulting from the resonance of the two pendulums.
The foregoing description attempts to describe a particular embodiment by way of non-limiting illustration and the invention is not limited to the implementation of certain particular features which have just been described, as for example the implementation of the mechanical oscillator in a rotating cage.
The skilled person will not encounter any particular difficulty to adapt the content of the present disclosure to his own needs and implement a watch movement different from the embodiment described here, but comprising two toothed rockers in the grip one with the other.
