The present invention relates to a date mechanism for a timepiece comprising indicators superimposed on each of which is affixed a portion of the digits of the days of the month, these figures appearing in turn through a large window pierced in the dial that includes the timepiece.
Such mechanisms have already been proposed for example in the document CH 660 941, In this document are provided two superimposed display rings each having a portion of the date digits. The upper ring has a window through which the figures of the lower ring can be seen if this window is at the location of the display materialized by a window pierced in the dial of the timepiece. The system provides selective drive means for driving one of the rings while the other remains at rest. Additional drive means ensure the advance of the ring in extended rest, when the other ring has passed all its numbers. Then, it is the other ring which comes to rest prolonged until means of drive to stop advance the two rings.
The present invention provides another advantageous solution for achieving a date display through a large window. This new solution uses a set of very simple constituents and allows a large display, the date digits are divided into three indicators instead of two only.
Thus, the embodiment according to the present invention, in addition that it satisfies what is said in the first paragraph of this description is remarkable in that the indicators consist of an upper disk, an intermediate disk and a lower disk, the upper disk being divided into eleven sectors, ten of which are occupied by numbers ranging from 1 to 10 and one through a window through which the digits of the intermediate disk can be seen, the intermediate disk being divided into eleven sectors of which ten are occupied by numbers ranging from 10 to 20 and one through a window through which the figures of the lower disk can be seen, and the lower disk being divided into eleven sectors all occupied by numbers ranging from 21 to 31 ,
in that each of the disks is driven by a gun integral with a star, these guns being freely fitted into each other, and in that a control wheel equipped with a date wheel progressing a step by day is arranged to mesh selectively with the stars equipping the disks so as to drive the upper disk while the other two disks remain at rest, to drive the intermediate disk when the upper disk has passed all its digits, the upper disks and lower remaining at rest, and drive the lower disk when the intermediate disk has passed all its numbers, the upper and intermediate disks remaining at rest.
The invention will now be explained in detail below by means of the drawings illustrating an embodiment given by way of non-limiting example, in which drawings:
<tb> fig. 1 <sep> is a plan view of a timepiece in which the date mechanism of the present invention is mounted,
<tb> fig. 2 <sep> is an exploded perspective view of the date mechanism executed according to the present invention,
<tb> fig. 3 <sep> is an exploded perspective view of a portion of the mechanism shown in FIG. 2
<tb> fig. 4 <sep> is a perspective view showing the meshing of the control wheel with the gun stars supporting the display disks according to the invention,
<tb> fig. 5 <sep> is a vertical projection of the three toothed sectors of the control wheel,
<tb> figs. 6a, 6b and 6c <sep> show the positioning of the control wheel and the gun stars supporting the display disks on the 20th of the month, and
<tb> figs. 7b and 7c <sep> show the positioning of the control wheel and the gun stars supporting the display disks on the 21st of the month.
[0006] FIG. 1 is a view of a timepiece where appears the date of the 8th of great size at noon and through a large window 20 pierced in a dial 21. Under the dial 21 is mounted the date mechanism object of this description .
[0007] FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the date mechanism according to the present invention. This date mechanism with a large date includes indicators superimposed on each of which is affixed a portion of the digits of the days of the month to present together the entire thirty-one days of the month. These figures appear in turn through a large window 20 pierced in a dial 21 as shown in FIG. 1.
The invention is remarkable in that the indicators consist of an upper disk 1, an intermediate disk 2 and a lower disk 3. As can be seen in FIG. 2, the upper disk 1 is divided into eleven sectors, ten of which are occupied by numbers 4 ranging from 1 to 10 and one through a window 5 through which the digits 6 of the intermediate disk 2 can be seen. The intermediate disk 2 is also divided into eleven sectors, ten of which are occupied by numerals 6 ranging from 11 to 20 and one through a window 7 through which the digits 8 of the lower disk 3 can be seen. Finally, the lower disk 3 is also divided into eleven sectors all occupied by these numbers 8 ranging from 21 to 31.
FIG. 2 still shows that each of the disks 1, 2 and 3 is driven by a barrel referenced respectively by 9, 10 and 11. Each barrel 9, 10 and 11 is integral with a star bearing the references 12, 13 and 14. As the show even better fig. 3 and 4, the barrels 9, 10 and 11 are freely fitted into each other.
It will be noted here that the driving of the disc 1 by the barrel 9 is achieved by milling 30 disposed on either side of the barrel 9, these milling 30 receiving dishes in a hole 31 located in the center of the disc 1. It is the same for the guns 10 and 11 which are respectively provided with millings 32 and 33 adapted to the plates made in the central bores 34 and 35 of the discs 2 and 3.
FIG. 2 shows finally that a control wheel 15, described in detail later, is arranged to mesh selectively with the stars 12, 13 and 14 fitted to the disks 1, 2 and 3. This meshing is performed so as to cause the upper disk 1 while the other two disks 2 and 3 remain at rest, then to drive the intermediate disk 2 when the upper disk 1 has passed all its digits 4, the upper disks 1 and lower 3 remaining at rest and finally to drive the lower disk 3 when the intermediate disk 2 has passed all its numbers, the upper disks 1 and intermediate 2 remaining at rest.
It will be noted that the control wheel 15 is provided with a date wheel 16 progressing one step per day, carrying thirty-one teeth and controlled by a mechanism known per se and not shown in the drawing. .
As can be seen particularly well in FIGS. 2, 3 and 4, the control wheel 15 comprises, coaxially fixed on the date wheel 16, arranged coaxially on each other and angularly offset with respect to each other of the upper toothed sectors 17, intermediate 18 and lower 19. These toothed sectors are arranged to mesh selectively with the stars 14, 13 and 12 equipping the lower disks 3, intermediate 2 and upper 1.
More specifically, the upper toothed sectors 17, intermediate 18 and lower 19 each comprise eleven teeth, the teeth of the lower sector 19 being numbered from 1 to 11, those of the intermediate sector 18 from 11 to 21 and those of the upper sector 17 from 21 to 31. We touch here the finger of the interest of such a construction that offers identical parts to produce, namely three toothed sectors of the same invoice.
There is shown in fig. 5the three toothed sectors seen in plan and in vertical projection. It is a wheel 22 having three levels. The tooth 11 of the lower sector 19 overlaps the tooth 11 of the intermediate sector 18 to show in the large window 20 the window 5 of the upper disk 1 and the date number 11 affixed to the intermediate disk 2. Further, the tooth 21 of the intermediate sector 18 overlaps the tooth 21 of the upper sector 17 to show in the large window 20 the window 7 of the intermediate disk 2 and the date number 21 affixed to the lower disk 3. This change from date 20 to date 21 will be examined more low with reference to FIGS. 6and 7.
Finally the tooth 31 of the upper sector 17 adjoins the tooth 1 of the lower sector 19 to show in the large window 20 the date number 1 affixed to the upper disk 1.
Figs. 6a, 6b and 6contrast the positioning of the control wheel 15 and the gun stars 12, 13 and 14 on the 20th of the current month. In fig. 6a, the lower disk 3 linked to the star 14 has the number 31 to the right of the large window 20, 31 not visible because hidden by the intermediate disk 2. In fig. 6b, the upper disk 1 linked to the star 12 has its window 5 (symbolized by the numeral 0 in the figure) to the right of the large window. In fig. 6c, the intermediate disk 2 linked to the star 13 has the number 20 to the right of the large window 20, this figure 20 being visible through the window 5 of the upper disk 1.
On the 20th of the month at midnight, the control wheel 15 progresses one step in the direction indicated by the arrow A, which has the effect of advancing the star by one step in the direction of the arrow B. 14 linked to the lower disk 3 and the star 13 connected to the intermediate disk 2. The star 12 linked to the upper disk 1 is not driven by the mobile 15, the toothed sector 19 may make this drive being diametrically opposite to the star 12.
Thus, the 21st of the current month, FIGS. 7a, 7b and 7c show the positioning of the control wheel 15 and the gun stars 12, 13 and 14. In FIG. 7a, the lower disc 3 linked to the star 14 has the number 21 to the right of the large window 20. In fig. 7b, the upper disk 1 linked to the star 12 has as before its window 5 (symbolized by the numeral 0 in the figure) to the right of the large window. In fig. 7c, the intermediate disk 2 linked to the star 13 has its window 7 (symbolized by the numeral 0 in the figure) to the right of the large window 20. Thus the 21st of the month, the date is displayed by the lower disk 3 visible at through windows 5 and 7 that have the disks 1 and 2 respectively.
The large window 20 referred to above is the one pierced in the dial 21 of the timepiece shown in fig.1. In the schematic views of fig. 6and 7, the large window 20 is located on a line connecting the center of the control wheel 15 and the center of the stars 12, 13 and 14 and the meshing point of said mobile and said stars.
We add to conclude that a jumper is provided on each of the stars 12, 13 and 14 to prevent inadvertent advance of a disc that must remain at a standstill.
