The invention relates to a device for emergency lubrication of the shaft bearing of an exhaust gas turbocharger with failing lubricating oil supply.
The invention has for its object to provide such a device with a simple structure that ensures adequate lubrication of the shaft bearing in case of failure of the lubricating oil supply.
This is achieved by a device for emergency lubrication with the features of claim 1 according to the invention.
The invention is characterized in that with the exception of a check valve, no further moving parts are present.
Nevertheless, not only a sufficient lubrication of the shaft bearing is achieved in a short-term failure of normal lubrication, but also an emergency lubrication with long-term failure of lubrication with shutdown of the wheels, in addition cooling of the more heated turbine shaft bearing is achieved by a residual amount of lubricating oil from the storage tank ,
Advantageously, the storage tank is divided by a vertical wall into two sections, which communicate with each other by means of a passage opening and in which the branch line receiving section opens a leading to a vented lube oil storage tank overflow pipe.
By dividing the storage tank can be achieved that in the section in which the overflow pipe does not open, an air cushion is formed during filling, which reaches the lubricating oil pressure and therefore ensures that the check valve opens in case of failure of normal lubrication and then from the storage tank Lubricating oil first emerges under pressure into the loop.
Preferably, the overflow pipe is pulled up close to the ceiling of the storage tank. When filling the storage tank but also during further normal operation, therefore, air bubbles can largely be removed via the overflow pipe.
The air bubbles can therefore not endanger the emergency lubrication in particular.
Further features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the additional dependent claims and a description of an embodiment with reference to the drawing. In this shows each schematically:
<Tb> FIG. 1 <sep> the structure of the device according to the invention,
<Tb> FIG. 2 <sep> a section through the check valve in the closed position and
<Tb> FIG. 3 <sep> the check valve in the open position.
In the arrangement according to FIG. 1, two lubricating oil supply lines 1 are provided, which open into a ring line 2. Each of the two supply lines 1 receives a check valve 3, which allows a lubricating oil flow at normal lubricating oil supply in the direction of arrows a. The ring line 2 is arranged vertically. At its lowest point branches off a supply line 4, which leads to the turbine shaft bearing. From the top point of the ring line 2, a further supply line 5 leads to the compressor shaft bearing. The shaft bearings are not shown on the drawing.
They are located below the ring line 2.
From the uppermost point of the loop 2 another branch line 6 branches off, which leads to a arranged above the ring line 2 total designated 7 storage tank. In the stub 6 a designated total of 8 check valve is used. The check valve, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, a valve plate 9, which is guided freely movable in the vertical direction. For this purpose, a plurality of L-shaped webs 11 are provided in the valve housing 10. In the valve plate 9 an always open passage cross-section 12 is introduced in the form of a bore.
Alternatively, this passage cross-section could also be performed by a bypass line bridging the check valve 8.
The passage cross section 12 is substantially smaller than the cross section of the stub 6 dimensioned.
The storage tank 7 is divided by a vertical wall 13 into two sections 14, 15. Immediately above the bottom 16 of the storage tank 7, a passage opening 17 is provided in the wall 13. In the section 14 of the storage tank 7 further protrudes an overflow pipe 18 that is pulled up close to the ceiling 19 of the storage tank 7. The other end of the overflow pipe 18 opens into a lubricating oil reservoir 20, which is vented through pipes. On the upper end of the overflow pipe 18, a discharge opening 22 defining a diaphragm is placed.
In this case, the passage cross-section 12 is dimensioned larger than the outflow cross section. In the stub 6 is directly above the bottom 16 of the storage tank 7, a bore 23 is introduced.
If the lubricating oil supply is turned on, it is supplied via the supply lines 1 and the then opening check valves 3 lubricating oil to the ring line 2 and from there via the supply lines 4, 5 to the shaft bearings. At the same time enters via the stub 6 and the always open passage cross-section 12 lubricating oil in the storage tank 7 a. This increases the lubricating oil level in the storage tank 7. In this increase in the lubricating oil level, the air in section 15 is compressed after the section 14 is completely filled. The air in section 14 is discharged through the overflow pipe 18.
If the level of the lubricating oil reaches the upper end of the overflow pipe 18, then a portion of the lubricating oil flows out via the overflow pipe. However, since the discharge cross section 22 of this tube is smaller than the passage cross section 12 of the check valve, the portion 14 is completely filled with lubricating oil under pressure. The entering through the passage opening 17 in the section 15 lubricating oil compresses the air located in the upper part of this section also. During this process, the valve disk 9 of the check valve 8 is held in the closed position by the lubricant oil pressure applied to its underside, as shown in FIG. 2.
If the lubricating oil supply short-term, close the check valves 3. Thus, the pressure of the ring line 2 and the lower portion of the stub 6.
By the air cushion in section 15 of the storage tank 7, however, is in the upper part of the stub 6 and thus at the top of the valve plate 9 pressure, which presses the valve disk in the reproduced in Fig. 3 position in which the valve disc at the lower L-. shaped part of the webs 11 rests. Thus, the check valve 8 opens and lubricating oil can enter in the direction of arrow b through the branch line 6 in the ring line 2 and further into the supply lines 4 and 5. This ensures the lubrication of the shaft bearings for a short-term interruption of the lubricating oil supply via the supply lines 1.
Does not start this lubricating oil supply, so the engine and thus the turbocharger is stopped after a few seconds. Now, the storage tank 7 can leak completely.
The lubricating oil runs essentially by gravity to the lowest point of the ring line and from there via the supply line 4 to the turbine shaft bearing which is thermally loaded higher than the compressor shaft bearing. At the end of the emptying of the storage tank 7, the lubricating oil passes only through the bore 23 and then via the ring line 2 and the supply line 4 to the turbine shaft bearing and cools them.
When using the invention, the storage tank 7 may be arranged directly above the housing of the exhaust gas turbocharger. As a result, there are short pipes for the spur line 6 and the overflow pipe 17 and thus a compact design.
