Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a watch, in particular a wristwatch, provided with a crystal provided with at least one electronic member, characterized in that said electronic member is partially or completely integrated in the glass of the crystal.
Certain known disclosures reveal the idea of incorporating into the watch case devices other than those intended for measuring time. However, none of the disclosures presents the idea of using the crystal of a watch as a support and of integrating one or more electronic components into it.
The object of the present invention is to use the crystal of a watch as such a support, in order to integrate an electronic member therein, such as for example an electronic chip. The idea is not only to make the glass integral with said member, but to give the glass the additional function of support for various possible applications arising from said electronic member. The advantage sought, is to place the electronic organ in a most accessible place on the body of a person.
The applications arising from this invention are multiple, the glass thought of as a support for electronic components, could as well receive components from new technologies, as certain electronic components found so far in the case of a watch.
The invention will be better understood on reading the description which follows, made with reference to the drawing which represents an embodiment of the invention. More precisely:
- fig. 1 is a section of the watch case, according to an embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a watch equipped with an electronic chip integrated in the crystal, a intended application of which is a wristwatch provided with an electronic chip having the function of controlling the access of people in a building. This wristwatch, used as an access badge, works in combination with a device of external readers arranged in the various sectors of the building. The user puts his watch, while being able to hold it on his wrist, on the external reader. The latter recognizes the information contained in the chip integrated in the crystal of the watch and controls, respectively, gives user access.
Fig. 1 shows in a simplified form a watch box 5, a crystal 1 secured to the box 5. As is well known, the box 5 contains a movement symbolized by the rectangle 4 from which the axes of needles not shown on the drawing, crossing a dial 3. According to the invention, the glass 1 comprises an electronic member 2, in our example it is an electronic chip, which is integrated in the glass of the glass 1, and which by a metal substrate , which is none other than an antenna 6, transmits to an external reader, not shown in the drawing, the information contained in the electronic chip.
Said electronic chip can also be connected, respectively powered with movement 4, which essentially comprises a stepping motor, a gear train driving the axes of needles, an electronic circuit and a time base for controlling the motor and finally a battery to power the engine and the various electronic components.
It will also be mentioned that one of the great features of this watch is the fact that the crystal 1 and its electronic member 2 can be easily removed from the watch. With a single manipulation, the two parts can be removed in a simple and rapid manner, which allows great flexibility in the various possible applications. The interchangeability of electronic components, the very reduced costs caused by the manufacture of spare parts, make countless applications possible.
