Abstract

The machine consists of a frame (1) with at least one rotary plate (2) to support the cheeses while they are being turned beneath a treatment assembly with brushes (16) and moisturizers (13) connected to a tank (12). The cheese are held in place on the plates by radially-moving jaws (4) actuated by spiral slots in discs (6) beneath the plates when they are rotated by motor and reduction gear units (11). The jaws are released by the inertia of the rotating cheese when the motor stops.

Description

The treatment of cheese wheels requires many successive and periodic operations which essentially consist of moistening the cheese and brushing and cleaning its surface. These operations require a fair amount of work and time.

Several machines have already been proposed for the treatment of cheese wheels. In the rotary table machine category, the problem was being able to hold and center the cheese wheel on the pan.

A known device consists in holding the cheese wheel by a suction effect by creating a depression in the cells of a tray.

Other methods consist in working in several stages in order to be able to keep the cheese wheel on its heel during cleaning. All these processes, because of their volume, cost and energy consumption, are only intended for dairies with a relatively large infrastructure.

The object of the invention is to propose simple and advantageous equipment, of small dimensions, with low energy consumption which can operate on battery. It relates to a rotary table machine for the treatment of cheese wheels for moistening, brushing and scraping.

It is characterized in that it comprises a frame supporting at least one rotary plate provided with means for automatically centering and fixing the grinding wheel on the rotary plate or plates.

These trays can be arranged in a nested manner so as to reduce the dimensions of the machine and to reduce the movements of the operator.

A device comprising the treatment utensils is placed alternately in work on one or the other of the grinding stones to be treated.

The position of the processing device determines the rotation of the plate concerned.

The accompanying drawings show schematically and by way of example an embodiment of the machine which is the subject of the invention.

Fig. 1 is an elevational view of the machine
Fig. 2 illustrates in detail the centering and clamping mechanism of the cheese wheels.

The invention comprises a frame (1), on which are placed two rotary devices (2). They are surmounted by a reservoir (12) and a treatment device (5), constituted by brushes (16), and humidifiers (13), and held in place by means of a fixing (14).

The rotary devices consist of a lower plate (6), driven directly by reduction motors (11), and provided with bean-shaped and eccentric openings (7). A central ring acts as a friction and spacer with the upper plate (2). The latter, intended to receive the cheese wheel, is provided with grooves (13), in which centering jaws (4) slide. Said jaws are provided with lugs (10) which engage in the eccentric openings (7) of the lower plate.

This configuration has the effect that when the motor of the rotary device concerned is started, for example by means of the processing device (5), the starting torque, meeting the inertia of the stopped cheese wheel, causes on the jaws (4), via the lugs (10), a strong concentric pressure, first centering the cheese wheel, before driving it in rotation.

When stopped, the exact opposite effect is produced: The inertia of the rotating cheese wheel tends to oppose the sudden stop of the lower plate (6); this introduces through the eccentric openings (7), and the pins (10), an outward pressure, releasing the jaws (4) enclosing the cheese wheel.

It is quite clear that the centering movement of the jaws could be achieved in another way:

For example, by means of cables, chains, cogwheels or other parts acting in any way on the jaws, before or at the time of the rotation.
