The present invention relates to a clasp for a bracelet, in particular a watch bracelet.
There are known watch straps, in particular metallic, comprising links with a clasp made up of articulated elements, in particular called a wallet clasp, forming a closed ring both in the open and closed position. One problem with this kind of clasp is their spontaneous opening. Indeed, in many cases the known clasps open during sudden movement which has the consequence that the watch can receive a shock. In addition, many known clasps do not look good.
The invention aims to provide a clasp of a very beautiful aesthetic appearance and which has great security with regard to its spontaneous opening.
The clasp according to the invention defined in claim 1 achieves the aims set out above.
The invention will be better understood on reading the description of an embodiment given by way of example with reference to the drawings in which:
fig. 1 shows a clasp according to the invention with five elements.
fig. 2 shows the clasp of FIG. 1 in the closed position on a smaller scale,
fig. 3 shows a section of the clasp of FIG. 1 through the hanging device,
fig. 4 shows a bottom view of the clasp of FIG. 1 in closed position,
fig. 5 represents a detail of the principle of the invention on an enlarged scale,
fig. 6 shows a detail section of FIG. 5,
fig. 7 and 8 shows how the clasp can be inserted into a bracelet.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1 the clasp has five elements hinged on each other forming what is commonly known as a portfolio clasp. The clasp comprises an element 1 at the ends of which two elements 10 and 11 are articulated on axes 14 and 13 respectively. Elements 10 and 11 will hereinafter be referred to as intermediate elements. It is very clear that the clasp could only include the elements 1, 10 and 11 and the ends of the bracelet could be fixed on the axes 5 and 6.
The bar 1 is solid in noble metal, for example gold. It has two holes at its two ends for the passage of the axes 13 and 14 on which the elements 1 and 10 are articulated. Referring to FIG. 5 have seen on an enlarged scale in detail the articulation comprising the axis 14, which constitutes the device allowing a longitudinal movement according to the arrow 23. Thus the axis 14 is disposed in a bore 19 with a diameter greater than the diameter of the axis 14. The axis 14 is held in a position determined by a piston 17 housed in a bore 20 perpendicular to the bore 19 and pushed by a spring 18. This device allows movement of the element 10 according to arrow 23, so that the axis 6 disposed at the other end of the element 10 can enter the recess 3 and be housed under the spout 4 ensuring a hooking of on the element 10 on the element 1.
The bore 19, due to its circular shape, allows the axis 14 to roll during the movement of the element 10 which reduces the wear of the axis 14.
As seen in fig. 6, the element 10 of U-shaped section is completely recessed on the element 1. The axis 14 has a groove 22 in which a protuberance 21 of the piston 17 (fig. 5) comes to be arranged so as to hold in place axis 14.
Returning to fig. 1 the clasp is made up of five elements 1, 8, 9, 10 and 11 articulated on axes 5, 6, 13 and 14. Elements 8, 9, 10 and 11 have U-shaped sections so that they can be arranged inside each other as shown in fig. 2 and 3. In fig. 2 shows the clasp in the closed position which is in a monolithic bar.
As seen in fig. 1 the axis 5 comes to line up in the recess 2 of the element 1, while the axis 6 comes to line up in the recess 3 under the spout 4. The element 9 has at its end coming to the center of the element 1 an element 7 which is placed on element 8 holding it in place when the clasp is in the closed position. It is clear that the articulation 13 could be carried out in the same way as the articulation 14.
Fig. 4 shows the clasp seen from below on which have seen the axes 12 and 15 intended to be embedded in the elements of the bracelet. These axes are constituted by elastically retractable axis.
Figs. 7 and 8 show how the clasp can be inserted into the other elements of a bracelet. The bracelet has two elements 31 and 32, the U-shaped ends of which receive the ends of elements 8 and 9. The elements 31 and 32 have several holes 33 making it possible to arrange the elements 8 and 9 at various distances so as to adjust the length of the bracelet to the user's arm. Although this clasp has the advantage of ensuring a very secure attachment, it represents an aesthetic object constituting an ornament on the wrist.
Although the invention has been described in connection with two particular embodiments, it is obvious that it is not limited to these embodiments.
