The protection locates against the back of a user to prevent injury whilst using a glider aircraft, and is combinable with the belt gear or seat, being formed either as a part component joined with the belt gear or seat, or as a separate entity. In the back part of the seat is at least one pocket which accommodates at least partially the back protection. The back protection is provided with its own fixture belt which fits around the body of the flier, and has a part of soft material which faces the body. A part of the protection is made of blow-proof material, and consists of a quantity of components movable to one another. ADVANTAGE - To protect the back against injury of a user of a glider aircraft.
Description
Fig. 3 zeigt eine zweite Variante des Rückenschutzes.
The present invention relates to a safety device for users of gliding aircraft, in particular for protection against falls.
There are three different types of glider of the generic type: parachutes, paragliders and hang gliders. Paragliders and hang gliders are sports equipment in which the flight is started from a slope by foot start. Hang gliders have struts and are therefore semi-rigid. They are also known as kite gliders or delta gliders.
In contrast, the paragliders arose from the basic idea of creating a lift surface in the form of a wing entirely from canvas, the shape of the wing being maintained only by the action of the air, which escapes through openings at the front edge of the wing profile and generates internal pressure. The device is controlled by means of control lines. For example, when braking, the so-called "stall" effect can cause the air flow to suddenly stop and the wing to collapse, which if the wing does not open quickly enough can lead to a crash.
It goes without saying that there is an increased risk of injury for paraglider users. In particular when trying to take off or landing, falls can occur. This particularly affects beginners who have not yet mastered the correct handling of the device.
The invention has for its object to provide a device by which the user of a glider can be protected from injury.
The device according to the invention corresponds to the characterizing part of patent claim 1.
This device effectively protects the pilot's back against injuries. This is a very important contribution to safety, because the back is particularly at risk when falling. Even falls from a low height, such as those that occur during unsuccessful take-offs and landings, can cause permanent damage, particularly to the spine, if the back hits the ground, especially if there are stones.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is described in more detail below with reference to the drawing.
1 shows a view of a seat for paragliders with the safety device for the back,
Fig. 2 shows a section through the back part of the seat according to Fig. 1, with a first variant of the back protection, and
Fig. 3 shows a second variant of the back protection.
The seat 1 provided with the necessary straps has a seat surface 2 and a back part 3. The back protection 4 is arranged on the inside of the back part 3. This back protection 4 is held with its upper end in a pocket 5 machined on the upper inside of the back part 3 of the seat 1. The lower end of the back protection 4 is held in the same way in a pocket 6 located in the seat 2. So that the back protection 4 lies tight against the body of the aviator, it can be provided with its own fastening belts 7, which are intended to span the body of the aviator.
The back protection 4 consists of a part 8 made of impact-resistant material, for example made of plastic, which part 8 is connected to a part 9 made of soft material, the part 9 being on the side facing the body. In order not to impair freedom of movement, in the present exemplary embodiment the part 8 made of impact-resistant material is dimensioned such that it only covers the central region of the back, in particular the spine. As a further improvement in the freedom of movement, the part 8 can be divided into individual limbs 10 which can be moved relative to one another, so that at least a forward and backward bending of the body is possible without hindrance, while the protective effect is still fully retained.
The described device not only significantly improves safety, but also the seating comfort is considerably increased compared to the previously used seats, the back part of which consists only of canvas.
