Description

The present invention described relates to an adhesion promoter and mortar additive with high stability and its use in connection with hydraulically setting, especially cementitious, mortars. The agent according to the invention achieves good adhesion promoters and concretes with improved strength values and increased tightness.
Generic mortar additives are also known from the patent literature:
The patent CH 658 854 teaches such additives which primarily contain micro-silica and a water-reducing agent. This is said to improve the workability and the plasticity of the additional mortar mixture and to increase the strength of the concrete obtained. An exemplary additive according to this CH patent contains 47% by weight of microsilicic acid and approx. 6% by weight of water-reducing agents with the rest of water (pages 7 below, 8 above).
Patent CH 667 096 also teaches additives for hydraulically setting mortars, which agents are said to lead to various improvements in the properties of the concrete treated with them:
According to Examples 1 and 2 of this CH patent, the mixture according to the invention has about 25% by weight of amorphous silicon dioxide, 20 to 40% by weight of plastic dispersion and about 5% by weight of very special organic additives, the rest being water .
Finally, US Pat. No. 4,088,804 also teaches additives to mortar which contain amorphous silicon dioxide and plastic dispersions, among other things. Above all, these additives - together with cement and aggregates - should result in protective and decorative coatings. In addition to cement and aggregates, the relevant main components according to Table I are as follows: water 32 to 80 parts by weight, synthetic resin dispersion 10 to 15 parts by weight, amorphous SiO2 (Fly Ash or Silica 200 Mesh) 10 to 15 parts by weight.
It is known from the prior art that amorphous, finely divided silicon dioxide in hydraulic building and construction materials can increase their strength and tightness, above all due to its latent hydraulic reaction with free calcium hydroxide in the materials mentioned.
It is also known that plastic dispersions can have a positive influence on the properties of hydraulic building and construction materials in terms of their adhesive strength, compressive and bending tensile strength, modulus of elasticity and tightness.
On the other hand, based on the consideration that hydraulic binders and additives are more hydrophilic and plastic dispersions are more hydrophobic in character and that these substances ultimately have to harden as closely as possible in the matrix, the invention achieves the task of providing an agent which
- contains a wetting agent with a hydrophilic and hydrophobic character,
- introduces little or no air when working into the mortar and
- remains stable over a long period of time and is neither gelled nor infested with mold.
The task is solved by the adhesion promoter and mortar additive according to the claims, i.e. ultimately through a combination of specific components in special contents. The applicant attributes the unpredictable fact of the double use of the compositions according to the invention to precisely these specifications.
Exemplary adhesion promoters and mortar additives according to the invention have the following components within the stated content limits:

The nonionic wetting agent to be used according to the invention is preferably either
- one or more compounds in the group
EMI5.1
with R alkyl, especially nonyl, or dialkyl and n> / = 6 or
- one or more of those in the group
R - O (CH2 - CH2 - O) n - CH2 - CH2 - OH
with the same specifications or finally
- One or more compound (s) from the group of ethoxylated vegetable and fatty alcohols.
The consistency of these wetting agents varies from slightly viscous \ n (n> approx. 15) to melting waxes (n & tilde & 100) to dry solids (very high EO contents). Their stability with regard to hydrolysis in both slightly acidic and alkaline environments is remarkable. The resistance of these wetting agents is not impaired even by positively or negatively charged colloids.
These agents are usually in the form of emulsion polymers.
The dispersing aid to be used according to the invention is preferably one which is based on pyrrolydone (2)
EMI6.1
rests; N-lower alkyl pyrrolidones are particularly preferred.
Commercial liquid and / or solid additives can be used as defoamers, film-forming and leveling agents and as fungicides.
The invention will now be explained in practical terms using examples and their applications and comparisons:

ADMINISTRATION / STRENGTH
The use of composition D as an adhesion promoter and mortar additive has led to the results according to Tables 3 and 4 below.
To prepare the adhesive slurry, composition D is diluted 1: 2 with water. 1 part of this mixing liquid is mixed with 3 parts sand and 1 part cement. The adhesive slurry prepared in this way is worked into the matt damp surface with a hard brush. The subsequent mortar is freshly incorporated into the adhesive slurry.
The surface must be free of dirt, cement slurry and dust. Formwork-smooth surfaces are to be roughened by sanding or sand, water jets etc. The surface must be pre-wetted in accordance with general practice.
In addition, the composition D is added to the mortar to be applied in the weight ratios according to the following Table 3:
