PATENTANSPRÜCHE
Fig. 1 eine Ansicht des Planfräser, teilweise geschnitten,
Fig. 2 eine Draufsicht auf den Planfräser,
Fig. 3 eine Ansicht von unten des Planfräsers.

PATENT CLAIMS
1. Face milling cutter with a cylindrical tool body and on the periphery of the incisors, which comprise a rake and a flank, characterized in that the rake angle is positive and the flank extends over the tooth back of the incisors, and provide the incisors with a hard material coating are.
2. Face milling cutter according to claim 1, characterized in that the hard material coating is a titanium nitride coating.
3. face milling cutter according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that it consists of HSS-Co.
The present invention relates to a face milling cutter with a cylindrical tool body and incisors arranged on the circumference thereof, each comprising a chip and a free surface.
Face milling cutters with exchangeable carbide inserts are known. A disadvantage is that the hard metal inserts cannot have a positive rake angle, since the brittle hard metal material would break at a positive rake angle. This requires an increase in the cutting force, which in turn requires the use of strong and stable machines with high performance.
When using machines that are not extremely stable, the service life of the carbide inserts is greatly reduced.
Spirally grooved milling cutters and milling cutters made of HSS (high-performance high-speed steel) are also known.
These cutters are reground on the diameter and on the minor cutting edge, which requires special machines and specially trained specialists.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a face milling cutter, the cutting edges of which have at least the same hardness as that of the abovementioned hard metal milling cutters, but less stringent requirements can be placed on the stability and performance of the machines than when using the hard metal milling cutters.
Furthermore, the cutting teeth of the face milling cutter should be easy to regrind in one operation without special machines and specially trained specialists.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that the rake angle is positive, the free surface extends over the tooth back of the incisors, and the incisors are provided with a hard material coating.
In the following an embodiment of the invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Show it:
1 is a view of the face milling cutter, partially cut,
2 is a plan view of the face mill,
Fig. 3 is a bottom view of the face mill.
The face milling cutter 1 produced in monoblock design has cutting teeth 3 arranged at the same distance from one another at an axial end of a tool body 2. The free surfaces 4 of the incisors extend over the back of the teeth. The free areas are radially ground with a clearance angle of 6 "+ 2". The main cutting edge 5 forms a positive rake angle of 12 "+ 3.
The secondary cutting edge 6 is formed in the upper area of the incisors according to FIG. 1. 3 shows the positive rake angle in particular.
The face milling cutter consists of HSS Co and is coated with a titanium nitride layer in particular in the area of the free surface 4, the minor cutting edge 6 and the rake surface 7. This surface layer is harder than hard metal (> 2000 HV).
The tool body 2 is provided with a radial bore 8 and at the axial end opposite the cutting teeth with a transverse groove 9.
The open areas are approximately on a cone shell, the cone having an opening angle of about 60 (corresponds to the setting angle of 30).
The structure described has the advantage that only the rake face 7 has to be reground in the direction of the positive rake angle for regrinding the face mill, in contrast to known cutters a large number of regrinds are possible. This eliminates the need for special machines and specially trained specialists.
The coating of the face milling cutter in the area of the cutting teeth with a hard material coating, in particular a titanium nitride coating, results in at least as good cutting properties as with hard metal milling cutters, although a positive rake angle can be formed as a great advantage, which is not the case with hard metal inserts Case is. As a result, less stringent requirements regarding performance and stability have to be placed on the machines used.
