Description

The present invention relates to a waterproof case.

It is known, to remove certain objects from the outside environment, to enclose them in a sealed box. Boxes are used in particular to protect water from equipment such as cameras or lighting sources used for underwater work, or to protect any type of equipment, and in particular measuring instruments, from gas , dust or an explosive medium, for example.

Generally, watertight boxes are made of synthetic material and obtained by molding or machining, and include a tubular body, one end of which is closed off by a bottom, and the other end of which, open, is closable by a cover, transparent or not depending on the applications, fixed to the body by screwing. To this end, the peripheral edge of the cover is threaded, and the inner edge of the open end of the body is tapped.

This results, first of all, in a difficulty in making the tarau-dage, if the latter is machined, and an increase in the price of the box, due to the complexity of the mold, if the thread comes from molding.

In addition, the operations of screwing and unscrewing the cover are delicate, impractical, and often cause deterioration of the screw thread, adversely affecting the seal.

The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks.

To this end, in the box it relates to, of the type comprising a tubular body one end of which is closed off by a bottom and the other end of which is closable with a removable cover, the end of the body intended to receive the cover. , includes an area whose inner section is enlarged relative to the inner section of the rest of the body, the connection between the two sections being by a ring perpendicular to the axis of the body, fitted with a seal, and forming a seat for the cover, the cover being integral, on its face situated on the side of the interior of the box, with at least one rod which, extending axially in the box, is associated with means which, passing through with sealing the bottom of the box, exert a traction, directed towards the bottom, on each rod and, consequently, on the cover.

This solution is very interesting, because the box has simple shapes that do not require the production of threads and taps, which is advantageous both for obtaining by molding and by machining, and that it is of very use convenient.

Advantageously, the ends of several longitudinal rods are fixed on the face of the cover turned towards the inside of the box, the other ends of which are fixed on a plate which, arranged near the bottom of the box, is associated with a central screw turned on the bottom side, actuated to exert traction on the plate in the direction of the bottom, by means sealingly crossing it.

The invention will be better understood with the aid of the description which follows with reference to the appended schematic drawing representing two embodiments of this box:

Figure 1 is a longitudinal view of a first box;

Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of a second box whose bottom is removable.

In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, a box (2) comprises a tubular body (3), one end of which is closed off by a bottom (4), and the other end of which, which is open, can be closed off by a cover (5).

The open end of the body comprises a part (6) whose internal section is enlarged relative to the section of the rest of the body. The connection between the two zones of different sections is made by a surface (7) in the form of a crown perpendicular to the axis of the body. In this surface (7) is provided a groove (8) of depth less than the diameter of an O-ring (9) to which it serves as a housing.

On the face of the cover (5), turned towards the side of the interior of the box, are fixed, for example by screwing, several longitudinal rods (10) whose other ends are fixed on a plate (12) perpendicular to the axis of the box and located near the bottom (4) thereof.

In the embodiment shown in Figure 1, the plate (12) has a central opening (13) for the passage of a screw (14) whose end, located on the side of the interior of the box, is fitted with a stop (15).

The bottom (4) has a hole having two successive diameters (16) and (17) different, that (16) located on the outside side being greater than that (17).

The holes (16,17) are used for the passage of a threaded socket (18) closed by a head (19) bearing on the outer face of the bottom. The second end of the screw (14) is engaged in the socket

(18). The etaneity between the sleeve (18) and the bottom is achieved by two O-rings (20) located in the area (16) of large diameter and held in place by a ring (22). On the lateral face of the box is fixed, for example by gluing, a threaded insert (23) allowing its fixing on a support or the like.

In practice, the cover (5) is kept pressed against the seat (7, 9) by the traction exerted by the rods (10) which are subjected, via the plate (12), to the action of the screw. (14) and the socket (18).

It should be noted that the length of the part (6) of enlarged section is greater than the thickness of the cover (5), which ensures excellent protection thereof, especially if it is a porthole. fitted to an appliance intended for underwater use.

FIG. 2 represents a variant of this box in which the same elements are designated by the same references as above. In this case, the two ends of the body are open and the bottom (24) is mounted in the same way as the cover (5).

This box still differs from the previous one in that the central hole (13) of the plate serves as a housing for a threaded insert (25)

in which is engaged a screw (26) passing through the bottom (24) and whose head (27) bears on the outer face of the bottom.

As is apparent from the above, the invention brings a great improvement to the existing technique by providing a sealed box which can be obtained simply by a molding technique or by a machining technique, regardless of whether it is made in synthetic material or metal depending on the applications, and very practical to use for the user, the trac-tion rods can be used to support and position the objects contained in the box, and the opening and closure of the box being carried out quickly, without risk of damage to the equipment.
