Description
The invention relates to a device for influencing ground contact on skis, in particular cross-country skis.
Both when ascending and descending, cross-country skiers in particular often have the need to be able to influence ground contact, be it to find a better grip against slipping back or to slow down the descent.
Scale or fur coverings are known to reduce the risk of slipping back; however, these means cannot be satisfied in all circumstances. Braking on a descent is not possible at all due to scale or fur coverings.
The invention has for its object to provide a device for influencing ground contact, which is particularly suitable for cross-country skis and is intended to enable skiers to operate them as they please, be it as a climbing aid or for braking when descending.
To achieve this object it is provided that a gripping device which can be moved beyond the outsole of the ski in the direction of the ground and can be actuated by means of the foot against a restoring force is arranged on the ski.
The gripping device does not protrude beyond the outsole of the ski during normal driving. Only when the skier actuates it is it pushed beyond the outsole into the snow of the ground in which it engages, whereby an adhesive or braking effect is achieved.
The gripping device advantageously comprises a foot plate, which is guided on the ski in a direction perpendicular to the outsole of the ski, and at least one snow gripper projecting downward from the foot plate. The snow gripper (s) advantageously have the shape of pins which are fastened to the footplate and are guided in the holes penetrating the ski.
The footplate advantageously has flanges projecting laterally from the ski, which are guided and held on the ski by means of an elongated pin guide. Instead of the pins, the snow grippers could also be formed by projections on these flanges projecting downwards. Alternatively, it is also conceivable for the snow gripper (s) to be formed by jaws which can be extended downward from or next to the outsole of the ski.
The gripping device is expediently arranged in the area of the tip of the foot and also carries the binding for the tip of the foot. The gripping device is actuated by tilting the foot about a tilt line which is advantageously arranged firmly on the ski between the center of the foot and the tip of the foot.
The restoring force mentioned can be applied, for example, by means of an elastic device which acts between the gripping device and the ski, such as an elastically deformable body made of elastomer material, such as rubber. Of course, conventional compression or tension springs can also be used to apply the restoring force.
Es zeigen: The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to schematic drawings of exemplary embodiments. Show it:

1 shows the central region 1 of a cross-country ski with an outsole 2 and a heel support 4 and ball rest 5 for a ski shoe 6 which are firmly attached to the top 3. The ball rest 5 is arranged in the area between the midfoot part and the toe part of the ski boot 6 and is made of plastic. At the front end of the ball support 5, a tilt line 7 is provided for the foot.
The binding part of the ski, designated overall by reference numeral 10, comprises a conventional binding 11 for the tip of the foot, as is customary in cross-country skis. This binding 11 is screwed onto a base plate by means of screws 13 (FIGS. 2 and 3). The base plate 12 is guided and held in a vertically movable manner in a counter plate 14 which is fixedly connected to the ski, the bent ends 15 of which overlap the front and rear ends 16 of the base plate 12. Furthermore, lateral guidance on the ski is brought about by flanges 17 projecting downward from the base plate and projecting downward from the ski. The base plate 12 is supported on the counter plate 14 by means of elongate elastic bodies 18 made of an elastomer material which are round in cross section.

Downwardly projecting pins 19 are attached to the base plate 12 and penetrate through holes 20 in the ski.
As can be clearly seen from FIG. 7, the pins 19 have heads 21 which are countersunk in counterbores 22 in the base plate and are secured by a cover 23 against falling out of the base plate. The bores 20 are lined with sleeves 24 made of plastic, such as Teflon, which, with their lower, thickened end at 25, guide the pins 19.
The embodiment according to FIGS. 4 to 6, in which parts having the same effect are designated with the same reference numerals as in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 3, is modified above all with regard to the guidance of the foot plate 12. Here, the side flanges 17 projecting downwards are extended downwards and dimensioned in such a way that they slide on both sides of the ski. This is penetrated approximately in the longitudinal center of the footplate by a guide pin 30 which also projects through vertical elongated holes 31 in the flanges 17 and is secured on both sides by retaining rings 32. A relative movement in the vertical direction between the footplate 12 and the ski is thus also made possible here. The size of the lifting movement h is caused by the longitudinal extension of the elongated holes 31, while the lifting movement h is limited in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 3 by the vertical distance between the ends 16 and the base of the counter plates 14.
From FIG. 5 it can be seen that the pins 19, viewed in the longitudinal direction, are arranged in groups symmetrically to the longitudinal center 28 of the ski, the pins of the individual groups each having a different distance from this longitudinal line 28. This is preferable because the braking effect is improved over an arrangement in which the pins are all equidistant from the longitudinal center line 28.
If the skier wishes to improve the ground contact, be it as a climbing aid or for braking when descending, he tips the shoe 6 forward about the tilt line 7 on the ball support 5. As a result, he kicks the footplate 12 down, and the pins 19 move out of the holes 20 down into the snow of the ground, so that they create an adhesive effect when ascending and a braking effect when driving downhill or straight ahead. During normal pushing off, however, the adhesive effect that can be generated by the pins is not disadvantageously noticeable, especially since the cross-country skier also lifts the ski from below the area in the area below 20 feet.
It can be seen that instead of the pins 19, other means of producing the intended effect can also be provided without departing from the scope of the invention. Thus, the flanges 17 can be pulled down further than shown in FIG. 6 and have projections which can be pressed into the snow on both sides by the ski.
