3. Device according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that the yarn breakage control device between the feed roller (12) and the thread plate brake (19) is arranged.
The present invention relates to a thread monitoring device on a quilting machine with a program control and a thread breakage control device consisting of several resilient, current-carrying contact arms with an end eyelet through which a needle thread coming from a thread spool is guided and a contact rail as well as a thread plate brake required to maintain the thread tension .
The performance of modern quilting machines is so high that the monitoring of the threads is extremely important. In contrast to the embroidery machine, in which a very large number of threads are used, the feed is relatively low and the lack of a thread is hardly noticeable, the lack of a thread due to thread breakage in a quilting machine means the loss of the material. This is all the more serious since the number of quilting seams for certain products tends to decrease and the feed speed of the material to be quilted becomes ever higher. Modern quilting machines work with an average output of 30 to 80 m / hour. In the manufacture of car upholstery, only two to three seams are often stitched and a speed of 100 m / hour is accordingly achieved.
This problem has been recognized and a solution has been created. In CH-PS 357955 it is proposed to loop the needle thread coming from the supply spool around a roller and pass it through an end eyelet of a resilient, current-carrying contact arm. If the thread tension decreases due to a thread break, the contact arm presses on a contact rail and closes a circuit, whereby a relay is switched and the machine is switched off. This system has proven itself for quilting patterns with a relatively large number of quilting seams. With the simplest quilting patterns for upholstery sets and car upholstery with only a few quilting seams, which have become increasingly common lately, it has been shown that the few threads, the wrapped roller, which is required to generate the thread tension, are no longer able to be driven.
Rather, the threads are often torn off simply by the inertia in the system. That is why when quilting car upholstery, despite the high working speed without automatic
Thread monitoring worked.
The present invention has for its object to provide a thread monitoring device that is particularly suitable for monitoring quilting machines in the manufacture of quilted products with only a few stitching seams. The device should also be able to influence the position of the stitching.
This task is solved by a thread monitoring device which is characterized in that a control according to a program of the program control of the quilting machine regulates the thread feed by means of a drive mechanism and that the thread breakage control device, which reports the breakage of a thread, is connected to the program control.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the thread monitoring device according to the invention is shown and explained using the following description.
It shows:
Fig. 1 is a functional diagram of the thread monitoring device and
2 shows a schematic representation of the device according to the invention.
3a-c illustrates the different quilting variants that can be realized with the device according to the invention.
Modern quilting machines, such as the AZ designer machine from MECA S.N.C. in Cassano Magnago, Italy, have a program control. Using programmable magnetic disks, so-called discs, the user can quilt any quilting pattern desired by his customer fully automatically. The device according to the invention makes use of this. In the functional diagram of FIG. 1, the program control of the quilting machine is designated by 1. Corresponding to the pattern which is entered into the central program control 1 of the machine with a magnetic card or a punched tape, corresponding control signals are sent to the control 2 of the thread monitoring device. This control device converts the received signals and forwards them to a stepper motor 3.
The stepper motor 3 drives a roller which is wrapped by all the threads in use and effects the corresponding thread feed 4. A thread breakage control device 5 controls each of the threads in use. If the thread breaks, a feedback is given to the program control of the quilting machine and the machine is stopped.
In contrast to the previous thread monitors for textile machines, not only thread break monitoring is carried out in the device according to the invention, but also the thread feed of the needle thread is controlled.
The control of the needle thread naturally also has an effect on the shuttle thread.
The controller 2 of the thread monitoring device can take into account several points. For example, the control can be designed so that the number of threads used in the quilting pattern can be set.
If, for example, all of the quilting threads are required, the feed roller hardly needs to be driven since threads feed the feed roller automatically. The fewer threads are used, the more the quilting motor 3 must be concerned with the feed through the feed roller.
If, as is customary with a car upholstery, only two or three threads are required, the feed must exactly match the required thread length.
It is known that the stitching can be varied by the tension of the needle thread. 3a-3c show
a section perpendicular to the stitching through the quilted material.
The image of a quilting seam according to FIG. 3a arises when the tension of the shuttle thread is considerably higher than the tension of the needle thread. This can be achieved with the device according to the invention in that the feed of the needle thread by means of the stepping motor is relatively large and the tension of the needle thread is therefore relatively low. If the tensions of the needle and shuttle threads correspond to one another, approximately the same amount of thread is used on both sides and the approximately symmetrical seam pattern according to FIG. 3b is produced. Finally, however, the tension of the needle threads can be increased to such an extent that a quilting pattern - as shown in FIG. 3c - is created. These types of quilting were previously unknown. The operator was anxious to always achieve a stitching according to Fig. 3b.
In principle, it was possible to brake the individual needle threads, but in reality this was never practiced. The device according to the invention now allows not only to drive with any seam variant, but also to vary the seam type as desired during quilting, as a result of which an even more relief-like effect can be achieved.
The thread monitoring device according to the invention is shown schematically in FIG. 2. The needle thread 10 comes from the thread bobbin 11 and loops around a roller 12, which is called feed roller according to its function. The feed roller 12, which is responsible for the tracking of the needle thread 10, also regulates the thread tension accordingly. The feed roller 12 is driven by a stepper motor 3 in accordance with the control 2 of the thread monitoring device. The thread 10 reaches the needle 14 via deflection rollers 13, some of which are resilient.
A thread breakage control device 5 monitors the needle thread 10. The control device 5 consists of a resilient, current-carrying contact arm 15 with end eyelet 15 ', a needle thread 10 each and a contact rail 16 common to all contact arms 15.
Both the contact arms 15 mounted on a power supply rail 17 and the contact rail 16 are connected via lines 18 and a relay (not shown) to the program controller 1 of the quilting machine.
If the needle thread breaks, the voltage becomes too low, the contact arm 15 touches the contact rail 16, closes the relay circuit and switches off the machine via the program control 1. This also happens when the thread break occurs after the thread plate brake 19, since the thread 10 pushed by the roller 12 is no longer pulled.
If, on the other hand, the shuttle thread, not shown, breaks, less needle thread is used than is programmed, that is to say more thread is fed in than is needed, and consequently the thread 10 becomes slack again, as a result of which the contact 15, 16 closes again.
It is to the merit of the present invention that, with the thread monitoring device described, not only can a needle thread breakage check be carried out as before, but in addition to this task, new quilting variants can also be implemented.
