The invention relates to a method for producing decorations on a base fabric.
The invention also relates to a machine for carrying out the method, and to a product manufactured according to the method.
With conventional embroidery, the base material is pierced by the embroidery needle and the embroidery pattern is produced in this way with the aid of a relatively thin thread.
For certain decorations, however, it is desirable to be able to use thicker decoration yarns. The difficulty that arises is that decorative yarns, if they are comparatively thick and possibly still have knobs, can no longer penetrate the embroidery base fabric.
The method according to the invention, with which this problem is solved, is characterized in that one decorative thread is stitched onto the base fabric in the desired decorative shape by means of a retaining thread on a modified automatic embroidery machine.
The machine according to the invention is characterized. that a plurality of rotatable soutache wheels, each with an eccentrically arranged eyelet, is present, wherein the decorative thread is guided through this eyelet, and in the center of each of the soutache wheels there is a hole for the passage of a needle with the retaining thread, and one Rotation of the soutache wheels can be controlled by the program of the embroidery machine.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing.
Show it:

7 shows a schematic side view of the control device according to the invention,
3 shows a schematic front view of the control device according to FIG. 7,
4 shows the position of the soutache gear for downwardly directed embroidery of the decorative thread,
5 shows the position of the soutache gear for embroidering the decorative thread on the left,
6 shows the position of the soutache gear for upwardly directed embroidery of the decorative thread;
7 shows the position of the soutache gear for embroidering the thread on the right.
According to FIG. 1, a decorative thread or yarn 1 is embroidered on a base fabric 7 by a thin holding thread 3, which is almost invisible on the front side of the fabric on the finished product, and is thereby held on the front side of the base fabric 2. This fastening process for the decorative threads is carried out simultaneously several times in a very efficient manner on an automatic embroidery machine of conventional design, which, however, has to be modified in order to carry out these operations, as will be described below.
The base fabric 7 is held on the embroidery machine in the usual way by a winding roller and a winding roller. The decoration or embroidery is applied in the stretched, vertical part in between. For this purpose, there are a number of needles and embroidery boats lying next to one another.
The basic structure of a perforated tape-controlled, automatic shuttle embroidery machine, for example from Saurer AG, Arbon, is assumed to be known. Therefore, only the modifications to such conventional embroidery machines are described below.
From FIGS. 2 and 3, the basic structure of the control device can be seen with which the decorative yarns can be stitched onto a base fabric.
The drilling depth adjustment 6 present in such automatic embroidery machines 5 is used to control the position of the decorative thread immediately before tacking, and the perforation of the perforated tape is adjusted accordingly. An engaging and disengaging clutch 8 and a bevel gear 9 are connected to this shaft 7, which rotates step by step in response to a control command from the perforated strip. The shaft 10 driven by this carries a chain wheel 11 and a hand wheel 12.
This chain wheel 11 drives a shaft 15 via a chain 14 on which an eccentric 16 is seated. This eccentric 16 is designed essentially as an eccentrically mounted hexagon, against which a roller rests or in which a finger 17 engages and acts as the fulcrum of a one-armed lever 18.
The drive of the eccentric 16 is designed in such a way that the surface against which the roller or the finger 17 rests runs approximately vertically, so that a certain relative displacement can result between the roller or the finger 17 and the eccentric without this this changes the pivot position of the one-armed lever 18. With the one-armed lever 18 or the roller or the finger 17, a tab 19 is articulated, which in turn is pivotably attached to the shield 20 and thus participates in all movements of this shield 20 together with the winding and unwinding roll of the base fabric according to the control movements of the embroidery machine .
Approximately in the middle of the one-armed lever 18 there is a cam roller 22 which rests against an approximately 1800 eccentric 23. This eccentric 23 rotates continuously together with a Feston shaft 24 during operation. At the free end of the one-armed lever 18, a rod 25 is articulated, which is connected to one arm of a first angle lever 26.
This angle lever 26 is seated pivotably on a stationary, elongated holder 27 and is mounted pivotably about the pin 28. A connecting rod 30, which in turn is mechanically connected to two further angle levers 31, is attached to the other lever arm. These two angle levers 31 have their pivot pins 32 also on the holder 27. Both angle levers 31 have the same function and are used to perform two parallel control functions; however, it would also be possible to arrange just one angle lever 31 or more than two of the same one above the other, if such a plurality should be desired. A toothed rack 34 is connected in an articulated manner to the arm 33 which projects downward from the pivot point.
Each of these racks 34 interacts with a plurality of soutache gears 35 arranged at a distance from one another, so that when the respective rack 34 moves longitudinally, the soutache gears 35 meshing therewith rotate.
The soutache gears 35 each sit on a tongue 36 and are rotatably held in this by a sleeve 39. In the center of each of these gears 35 is a hole 37 for the passage of the embroidery needle, which carries the holding thread 3 in its eyelet.
A further bore 40 arranged eccentrically to the axis of rotation in each of the soutache gears 35 is used for the passage of the decorative yarn 1. Depending on the relative position of this bore 40, this decorative yarn 1 - based on the last adhesive stitch - is given a specific, stretched position, in which this decorative yarn 1 is then fixed by a new adhesive stitch on the base fabric 2 in the new position.
In Fig. 4 the position of the hole 40 for the downward stitching of the yarn 1 is shown. In Fig. 5, the position of the bore 40 for the left and in Fig. 7 for the Rechtssei term stitching of the yarn 1 is shown, while Fig. 6 shows the position for the upward stitching of the yarn.
In each of these positions, the soutache gears 35 can perform a rotary movement of 180, as shown by double arrows in FIGS. 4-7. Each of these positions which the soutache gears 35 can assume thus corresponds to a position of the eccentric 16, which influences the respective position of the rack 34 and thus the rotational position of the soutache gears 35 through its step-by-step rotation.
The embroidery needle for the retaining thread 3 and the shuttle for forming the seam are of a conventional type, which is well known in the embroidery industry.
Since the base fabric can move as a function of the control movements of the program contained on the punched tape, as well as the decorative thread by pivoting the soutache gear 35 different positions - namely up / down / left / right - can take any curve shapes of the You can also get decorative yarn with abrupt changes of direction and fix it on the base fabric 2 by stitches with the retaining thread.
The necessary setting can be made with the aid of the handwheel 12. Compared to existing automatic embroidery machines, the movement is reduced from 1/4 turn per function of the drilling depth adjustment to 1/6 turn per function of the eccentric 16. With the drive of the festoon shaft 24 existing in conventional embroidery machines, the movement of the apparatus described can also be switched on and off.
The drill or stump shaft was used as a thread guide for the decorative yarn 1 and driven by an adjustable connection (change in stroke) with the large thread guide.
Special effects can be obtained if the decorative yarn 1 is provided with knobs of irregular shape and spacing.
Such decorations are attached to an embroidery base fabric 2 next to one another in a multiplicity. In another pass, embroidery is then applied to the same base fabric 2 in a conventional manner either on the same or a different machine.
