9-11 zeigen.

The invention relates to a closure made of plastic for solid and deformable containers, such as glass bottles, cans, plastic bottles, tubes, etc.
Various closures are available on the market, but their type is only ever useful for a specific case. There are tube closures, bottle closures, closures for cans etc. In addition to the division according to purpose, you can also divide the closures according to their function, into twist closures, snap closures, pressure closures etc. The closures common today are usually designed as sheet metal capsules or made of plastic.
An ideal plastic closure would have to meet the following contradicting requirements: 1. The closure should close tightly and be easy to open; 2. the closure should be able to withstand a certain amount of internal pressure, such as occurs with carbonated beverages; 3. The closure should withstand temperatures as they occur when pasteurizing (62 to 850C); 4. the closure should be able to be made more child-friendly without major changes; 5. the closure should be the relatively large one on glass bottles
Tolerances on the pouring spout can be brought to seal; 6. The closure should be with one without major changes
Sealing tape can be provided.
The invention relates to a plastic closure for solid and deformable containers with a lower part which can be fastened to the container and has at least one outlet opening and an integrally hinged cap with the lower part.
The invention has for its object to provide a closure that meets as many of the requirements of an ideal closure as possible.
The invention solves this problem with a closure which is characterized in that the lower part has at least one locking member and an outer wall which, in the operating state, sealingly connects to the container spout and merges into an outlet opening with a smaller diameter and that the hinge is connected to the lower part
Cap is provided with a sealing pin and a pawl which can be pivoted by material-elastic deformation and which, in the closed state of the closure, engages behind the locking element, the closure sealingly closing the outlet opening of the closure.
The lower part of the closure preferably has a nose on its outer circumference diametrically opposite the hinge, while the pressure plate which is elastically connected to the cap carries the pawl at its lower end.
Such a closure can be made child-safe if the nose and pawl are hook-shaped in cross-section.
In the drawing, some embodiments of the subject of the invention are shown:
Fig. 1 shows a closure in section and in larger
Scale;
2 shows the same closure in a view from above;
3 shows the closure screwed onto a bottle according to FIGS. 1 and 2;
FIGS. 4 and 5 show a closure similar to that of FIGS. 1-3, which is designed such that it can be blown onto a bottle with a crown cork mouthpiece;
Fig. 6-8 a variant of the 'closure according to Fig. 1-3, which is provided with a sealing tape, in section, in side view and in view from below.
Fig. 9-11 a similar closure as shown in Fig. 6-8, but with so-called child lock;
12 and 13 a closure similar to that according to FIGS. 6-8, but with a special pouring opening, in section and in perspective;
;
14 and 15 a closure with an eccentrically arranged pouring opening and sealing tape, in section and in a view from above; Fig. 14 is a section along the line x-x in Fig. 15;
16 shows a closure according to FIGS. 14 and 15 on a plastic bottle.
1-3, a plastic closure is shown, which is made in one piece, preferably made of polypropylene. Its main components are: a lower part 1, a cap 2, a pressure plate 3 with a pawl 31 and hinge parts 4 which articulate the lower part with the cap connect. The lower part is provided with an internal thread 11 for screwing the closure onto a bottle with a corresponding thread.
Threaded glass bottles are relatively expensive and are used accordingly as reusable containers. The supplier is usually required to return the screw cap used on the bottle so that the thread is protected. Such a screw cap has to be completely unscrewed in order to access the bottle contents, is sometimes not screwed on properly or is lost.
If the bottle is open or not screwed on properly, it may spoil. the content. Without a screw cap, the bottle is sometimes not taken back. The closure according to Fig. 1-3, however, allows the bottle to be opened by opening the cap without having to unscrew the closure. For reasons of injection technology, it is essential that the thread height in the lower part is kept low. This allows a simple ejection of the molded part. The low thread height has an additional advantage when filling. In bottling plants, which also close the container, a screw cap is first pressed onto the container and only screwed on in a further phase. With the enormous working speeds and the escaping gas from the filled bottle, closures often fall off before they are screwed on.
At the low thread height, however, the closure is pushed open by the machine so that the first thread of the closure engages over the first thread of the bottle and is thus secured against falling off
The cap 2 is connected to the lower part by two film hinges 4, as can be seen in FIGS. 1 and 2. Film hinges made of the polypropylene material mentioned at the beginning allow over a million locking operations. Between the two film hinges there is a retainer designed as a tensioning strap 41 which, when it is opened, holds the cap in the open position.
The pressure plate 3 with the pawl 31 is diametrically opposite the hinge parts 4, 41. It is located between two cheeks 21 which are designed as a continuation of the cap. The pressure plate is connected to the cheeks 21 by the two elastically deformable bridges 32. In order to give the pressure plate 3 the necessary rigidity, it is provided with ribs 33 on the back.
The lower part is provided with a nose 12 on the outside diametrically opposite the hinge parts 4, 41.
In the closed state, the pawl 31 engages behind this nose, as shown in FIG. 3. The handle and nose are the same width.
In the case of containers in which a relatively high pressure prevails or can occasionally prevail, it makes sense to provide a sealing lip 13 on the lower part. This solution is particularly preferred for bottles to be pasteurized, in which a pressure of up to seven atmospheres can arise. The sealing lip 13 also has the task of facilitating the automatic fitting of the closure. For this purpose, the lip is directed obliquely upwards. The ribs 15 form a stop.
The seal between the cap 2 and the lower part 1 is brought about by a centering pin 22 arranged in the cap. In the example according to FIG. 1, the outlet opening in the lower part is approximately the same size as the opening 14 in the lower part. The latter is funnel-shaped at the top to make it easier to close. When closing, the centering pin slides into the opening 14 and seals the closure to the outside. A sealing groove 23 provided on the outer circumference of the pin 22 serves for secure sealing.
4 and 5 show a similar plastic closure, as described with reference to FIGS. 1-3. The lower part la is shaped so that it can be sprinkled onto a bottle with a so-called crown cork mouthpiece and seals well on it. The ring bead serves to seal and hold on the outer wall of the bottle mouthpiece
16 and the sealing lip 13 '. To ensure that the closure or its lower part also fits tightly on the inner wall of the bottle mouthpiece, the hollow cylindrical part of the pouring opening 14 is extended downwards and has a reduced cross section at 14a so that the hollow cylindrical part can better adapt to the bottle wall. A protruding sealing groove 14b is provided above the constriction 14a. The centering pin 22 can then be smooth, cylindrical on the outside.
In Fig. 5 the position of the cap 2a is shown in the open and shown by broken lines in the closed state of the closure so that the engagement of the pawl 31 behind the nose of the lower part is clearly visible.
6-8 shows a variant of the closure according to FIG.
1-3 shown, which is also provided with a so-called sealing tape 5. The pressure plate 3b of this closure has reinforcing ribs 33b which lie under the pressure plate and are therefore less noticeable. In addition to the two deformable bridges with which the pressure plate is connected to the cheeks 21 of the cap 2b, a tilting bar or tilting nipple 17 is attached to the lower part 1b at the same height as the two bridges. This facilitates the tilting movement of the pressure plate required for opening the closure, since this itself is also a little elastic.
The sealing tape is indicated with the reference number 5. It is connected to the lower part 1b by several thin pins 51. The pins form predetermined breaking points at which the sealing tape can be torn off. When closing for the first time, the lower part of the pressure plate can be pressed behind the sealing tape, the latter stretching a little. The closure can then no longer be opened without first tearing off the sealing tape. To open, an obliquely upward force in the direction of arrow K (Fig. 6) must be exerted on the pressure plate. As a result, the pressure plate tilts around the two bridges and the tilting bar or wart 17, the pawl 31 is released, the cap folds up and the closure is open. The tensioning straps 41 bring the cap into the open position.
In contrast to the closure according to FIGS. 1-3, the film hinge 4b is wider here and is located between two tensioning bands 41 arranged further out.
9-11 show a closure, similar to that according to FIGS. 6-8, but without a sealing tape, which is designed here as a child-resistant closure. For this purpose, both the nose 12 'and the pawl 31' are hook-shaped. Fig. 9 shows the closed closure and Fig. 10 and 11 two opening phases.
- To open such a child-resistant closure, pressure must first be exerted on the cap 2c in the direction K1 until the two hooks of the pawl and nose detach from one another (FIG. 10). While maintaining the pressure K1, an obliquely upward pressure K must now be exerted on the pressure plate 3c until the pawl detaches from the nose (FIG. 11). The pressure K1 can then be reduced to zero and the closure opens. Both hands are required for this and such a closure cannot be easily opened by small children's hands.
So that the pressure K1 to be exerted has a relatively high value, that is to say the closure cannot be opened easily, a rib 25 is attached in the cap 2c, which rib is elastically deformed when the cap is pressed downward, as can be seen in FIG. 10.
So that such a childproof> lock cannot simply be unscrewed, an inwardly projecting edge 1 lc is attached to the bottom of the lower part, which prevents this.
Of course, the closure could also be provided with a bead 16, as in FIG. 5, for opening onto a correspondingly shaped bottle.
12 and 13 show a closure 1c, 2d with a special pouring opening 14 '. This is because it has a collar 18 which extends along half the circumference of the opening and has a pouring lip 18 '. The collar is surrounded by a groove 19 which has a slope towards the free part of the opening. The pouring opening 14 'has a sealing groove 14d. In the closed state, this groove forms a seal with the hollow centering pin 22d attached in the cap 2d.
Such a closure is suitable, for example, for oil bottles in which drops that stick to the lip flow back through the channel 19.
14-16, finally, a plastic closure with an eccentrically arranged spout is shown, which is suitable for containers from which pouring out over a corner. The lower part 2e has a pouring spout 101 instead of a pouring opening and the nose 12e is in a recess 102 (see FIG.
16) attached
The parts already described are available in slightly modified form on the cap le. The hinge 4e is flanked by two tensioning straps 41e and a pin 22e is attached inside the cap, which closes the spout when the cap is closed (FIG. 14). The pressure plate 3e is connected to the cheeks of the cap by means of deformable bridges 32e.
14 and 15 is an embodiment of the closure; represented with sealing tape. The sealing tape 5e has the shape of a tab which is connected to the upper edge of the pressure plate 3e by means of a pin having a small cross section. The pins form the predetermined breaking points when the sealing tape is loosened.
The sealing band is thicker at 52 in its lower part and prevents the closure from opening. When the seal is closed for the first time, it is folded down from the position shown in FIG. 15 until it assumes the position shown in FIG. 14 and then pressed together with the pressure plate into the depression 102, the nose 12e bending a little. The closure can now only be opened again after the sealing tape has been torn off. The tongue 53 shown in FIG. 15 is used for tearing off.
Although several exemplary embodiments of a closure are shown in the drawing, further variants and combinations of the individual details are of course possible. For example, the latch could reach directly under the lower edge of the lower part instead of under a protruding nose.
Having initially mentioned the requirements that an ideal closure should meet, it is useful to determine to what extent the embodiments of closures described above meet these requirements.
The first-mentioned requirement of convenient opening and closing meets all of the closures described above. They can be opened by an obliquely upward pressure on the pressure plate (force K in Fig. 6 and 11). The cap 2 is not lost, since it is hinged to the lower part. The closure can be securely closed by folding back the cap 2 and pressing until the latch snaps under the nose.
The sealing grooves on the pin or in the outlet opening ensure a good seal.
The second requirement, namely that the closure can withstand a certain internal pressure, is guaranteed by some special design measures! It has proven to be advantageous to arrange the tensioning straps 41, which at the same time bring and hold the opened cap into the fully open position, to the side next to the film hinge, as shown in FIGS. 6-8. They keep the cap open because they come out of the mold roughly as shown in FIG. 1. When the closure is closed, these bands are tensioned as shown in FIG. 7. In this way, you exert a counter pressure when there is internal pressure that wants to open the cap.
The ring-shaped sealing lip 13 ensures a good seal against the pouring opening of the bottle or the container (see FIG. 1). The seal at internal pressure is even better if the sleeve-shaped outlet opening 14 of the lower part can nestle against the inner wall of the pouring opening of the bottle, as is the case, for example. 5 is shown in the closure. The annular groove 14a allows the sleeve to be securely seated in the bottle without the sealing groove 14b provided above being severely deformed. 5, the ring-shaped bead 16 forms an additional second seal against the outer wall of the bottle.
In the case of internal pressure, it is advantageous that the centering pin 22 is hollow because the internal pressure tends to stretch it!
The closure fulfills the third requirement if it is made of polypropylene. Although this material also becomes a little softer at temperatures such as those found in pasteuris, the measures described above ensure that the seal remains tight
Figures 6-8 show how a sealing tape can be attached without the closure having to be designed fundamentally differently. The closure can also be made childproof> without the need for fundamental, intervening design changes, such as the Fig.
Show 9-11.
