Abstract

This pipe, intended for transporting fluid at a high temperature over relatively long distances, is of the type having connection by mutual interlocking and radial compression of a seal. It includes a thermally-insulating and relatively-rigid plastic foam (4) which adheres, on the one hand, to the pipe (1) and, on the other hand, to a cover (6a) made of a non-cellular polyurethane layer, which foam has a greater density at the interfaces with the pipe and with the cover than in its bulk and which covers the major part of the pipe, but is terminated at some distance from each of the ends of the latter by an inclined surface (14) of frustoconical shape. A casing (16) for protecting each of the frustoconical surfaces of the foam is clamped to one end by the cover and to the other by a clamp (collar) (20) for fixing to the pipe; this casing is sufficiently elastic to allow the foam to follow the expansion of the pipe whilst the cover remains immobilised. <IMAGE>
