Abstract

The traffic light comprises a housing (18). In the housing are mounted lamp sockets (20) and a light bulb (22) for sequentially lighting the lights. A reflector (26) is mounted on each socket (20) and serves to reflect and to direct the light through a lens made of coloured material or of transparent plastic (40). In the first case the lens includes a series of perforations; in the second case the lens carries a perforated cap (42). Hence, when a motorist approaches the traffic light, the illumination varies continuously due to the perforations and allows the motorist to determine more easily which of the traffic lights is in operation. Detection of the signal is thus facilitated for colour- blind people. <IMAGE>
