Abstract
The spring (10) has layers (11, 11a) of rubber fastened to interposed metal plates (12) and external metal plates (13). The length and the thickness of the layers (11, 11a) and of the plates (12, 13) progressively increase from the central layers and plates towards the outermost layers (11) and plates (13). Thus, in the presence of a combination of shear and compression stresses, the working cross-section of the spring remains practically identical to the cross-section of the central layers (11a) which reduces the bending forces applied to the external layers (11). It follows that the fatigue resistance of the spring under the action of shear loads is improved. The spring is used, for example, in the suspension of bogeys for rail vehicles. <IMAGE>
