EMI1.1
in welcher
Beispiel I
I -Isopropyl-3-hydroxy-5-ch lor-1,2, 4-triazol-hydrochlorid
Man erhält so 23 g I-Isopropyl-3-hydroxy-5-chlor- 1,2.4-triazol-hydrochlorid vom Schmelzpunkt 138 - 142"C.
PATENTANSPRUCH

The present invention relates to an improvement and further development of the system described in Swiss Patent No.
593 950 described process for the preparation of 1-alkyl-3-hydroxy-5-chloro-1 2,4-triazoles of the formula
EMI1.1
in which
R is a straight-chain or branched alkyl group with 1 to 5
Means carbon atoms, which is characterized in that an alkylhydrazine of the formula II R-NH-NH2 (11) in which R has the meaning given under formula I or a salt of such an alkylhydrazine first in the presence of an acid-binding agent with cyanogen chloride to give the corresponding l -Alkyl-1-cyanohydrazine and this is then cyclized with phosgene to give an 1-alkyl-3-hydroxy-5-chloro-1,2,4-triazole of the formula I.
When this process is carried out and the reaction mixture is subsequently worked up under alkaline conditions, the desired 1-alkyl-3-hydroxy-5-chloro-1,2,4-triazoles of formula I are obtained in the form of crude products which have to be purified before further processing . The present invention is therefore based on the object of improving the process described in the aforementioned Swiss Patent No. 593 950 so that it becomes possible to obtain the desired I-alkyl-3-hydroxy-5-chloro-1 2,4-triazoles of the formula I can be separated directly from the reaction mixture in pure form.
To achieve this object, it is proposed according to the invention that the 1-alkyl-3-hydroxy-5-chloro-1,2,4-triazoles of the formula I prepared by the process according to Swiss Patent No. 593,950 should be in the form of their hydrochlorides isolated from the reaction mixture.
In this way the 1-alkyl-3-hydroxy-5-chloro-1,2,4-triazoles of the formulas are obtained in the form of their pure hydrochlorides which are suitable for processing, e.g. for the conversion into phosphoric acid esters with insecticidal effect, are directly suitable. The variant according to the invention of isolating the l-alkyl-3-hydroxy-5-chloro-1,2,4-triazoles of the formulas as
Hydrochloride is also advantageous because it can be carried out without additional measures and without additional chemicals, since the hydrogen chloride required to form the hydrochloride is generated in the cyclization reaction.
The method according to the invention is explained in more detail by the following examples:
Example I.
I -Isopropyl-3-hydroxy-5-chloro-1,2,4-triazole hydrochloride
A solution of 19.4 g of 1-cyano-1-isopropylhydrazine in 30 ml of dioxane is added dropwise to a solution of 25 g of phosgene in 120 ml of dioxane over the course of 25 minutes, the internal temperature being kept between 10-15 ° C The temperature is allowed to rise to 25 ° C. for 15 minutes, the l-isopropyl-3-hydroxy-5-chloro-1,2,4-triazole hydrochloride formed beginning to precipitate. After a few hours, the precipitate is filtered off and dried.
This gives 23 g of I-isopropyl-3-hydroxy-5-chloro-1,2,4-triazole hydrochloride with a melting point of 138-142 "C. A further 8 g of l-isopropyl are obtained from the filtrate by evaporating the solvent in vacuo. 3-hydroxy-5-chloro-1,2,4-triazole hydrochloride was obtained.
Total yield 3 1 g corresponding to 79.5% of theory.
Example 2
In a cooled to 5 C solution of 59 g of phosgene in
A solution of 30 g of 1-isopropyl-1-cyanohydrazine in 45 ml of methylene chloride is added dropwise to 180 ml of methylene chloride over a period of 5 hours. When the addition is complete, the temperature is allowed to rise to room temperature and the mixture is stirred for a further 24 hours, the 1-isopropyl-3-hydroxy-5-chloro-1,2,4-triazole separating out in crystalline form as the hydrochloride. 33 g (53.2% of theory) of I-isopropyl-3-hydroxy-5-chlorof-1,2,4-triazole hydrochloride with a melting point of 138-142 ° C. are obtained.
After shaking with dilute sodium hydroxide solution and evaporation of the methylene chloride, a further 8.2 g (16.9% of theory) of crude 1-isopropyl-3-hydroxy-5-chloro 1,2,4-triazole from the melting point can be extracted from the mother liquor 99-1040C can be obtained.
