The invention relates to a connecting piece which can be pushed into a tubular element, in particular for pipes or duct sections of ventilation systems, which connecting piece carries an elastic sealing ring on its outside near its end to be pushed in, which has an angular cross-section with a parallel to the outer edge of the connecting piece extending and on this fixed fastening leg and a sealing leg which protrudes steeply from the connecting piece in the unloaded state and is bent towards the connecting piece in the loaded state.
The invention is based on the object of enabling, in a pipe connection of the aforementioned, known type, a mutual, subsequent rotation or longitudinal displacement of the nested pipes of the connection without difficulty.
Such subsequent twisting or longitudinal displacement is often necessary, especially when installing ventilation pipes, for example if the pipes or pipe sockets have branches that have to be aligned by turning the pipes, or because the pipes or pipe sockets are usually not cut to length on the construction site with millimeter precision can. Despite the desired subsequent adjustment of the nested tubes, however, a high degree of tightness of the tube connection should be guaranteed.
be steady.
The aforementioned object is achieved according to the invention in a connection piece of the type mentioned at the outset in that its pipe wall has a groove running parallel to it below the outer edge of the ring located in the connection area of the two legs of the sealing ring. The outer edge of the sealing ring can be pressed into this groove when the leg of the sealing ring is folded over when the pipe socket is inserted into a tubular element. This prevents the sealing ring from being subjected to severe straining and crushing in the area of its kink, which would lead to a strong pressing of the sealing leg of the sealing ring against the tubular element pushed over.
By the penetration of the sealing ring with its outer edge in the ring-shaped groove provided according to the invention, however, the spring characteristics of the sealing ring are considerably softer and rapid fatigue of the spring action is avoided. Nevertheless, the sealing effect of the sealing ring is practically just as great as without the groove provided according to the invention. This is due to the fact that the sealing ring has been compressed to a smaller circumferential length in the area of its outer edge by its penetration into the annular groove provided according to the invention and is therefore subject to an expansion force which pushes this corner area of the sealing ring back out of the groove and thereby the sealing leg adjoining the corner area seeks to press the sealing ring against the tubular element pushed over.
The outer edge of the sealing ring, which is angular in cross section, is expediently kept sharp-edged and the opposite inner edge of the sealing ring is slightly rounded. In particular in connection with the pressing of the fastening leg onto the pipe wall of the connecting piece, this results in a force which supports the pressing of the sealing leg folded over when the connecting piece is pushed into a tubular element. This formation of the inner and outer edges of the sealing ring is also advantageous if the aforementioned annular groove is not located in the pipe wall under the outer edge of the sealing ring.
The one to clamp the mounting leg of the Dick.
processing ring on the pipe wall of the connecting piece serving terminal strip can be formed by a circumferential band or by an outward bending of the front end of the pipe wall of the connecting piece. In both cases it is advisable that the edge of the clamping band adjacent to the sealing leg of the sealing ring or the bent back end of the pipe wall presses against the foot of the sealing leg in such a way that the sealing leg from its starting position protruding approximately at right angles from the pipe wall into a slightly inclined position arrives, which facilitates the insertion of the connecting piece into a tubular element.
With this inclination of the sealing leg ensured by the pressure of the clamping band or the bent-back end edge of the pipe wall, the utilization of the arrangement on which the invention is based with the groove located below the outer edge of the sealing ring is facilitated.
The connection piece according to the invention as well as a device and a method for clamping its sealing ring are described in more detail below with reference to the exemplary embodiments shown in the drawing:
1 shows an embodiment of the connecting piece according to the invention, partly in side view, partly in axial longitudinal section;
2 shows in a broken axial longitudinal section another embodiment of the connecting piece according to the invention after it has been pushed into a tubular element;
3 shows a further embodiment of the connecting piece, likewise in an axial longitudinal section, shown broken away;
FIG. 4 shows a fourth embodiment of the connecting piece in the same representation as FIGS. 1 and 3;
;
Figures 5 and 6 illustrate a method of clamping the sealing ring to the connecting piece in two different stages;
7 shows a fifth embodiment of the connecting piece in the same representation as FIGS. 1, 3 and 4;
8 and 9 show the clamping of the sealing ring in the embodiment of the connecting piece shown in FIG. 7 in two process stages;
10 and 11 show a device for clamping the connecting piece with a clamping band in two different working stages.
In the embodiment of a connecting piece 1 shown in FIG. 1, the elastic sealing ring 2 placed on or near its front end and having an angular cross section is clamped to its fastening leg 4 by the outwardly bent back end 3 of the connecting piece. In order to safely switch off axial displacement of the sealing ring 2 on the outside of the connecting piece 1, a radially inwardly directed bead 5 is provided at the free end of the fastening leg 4, which engages in an opposite annular groove 6 in the wall 7 of the connecting piece.
At a distance next to this annular groove, another annular groove 8 parallel to it is provided in the pipe wall 7, namely below the outer edge 10 of the sealing ring located in the connection area of the fastening leg 4 and the sealing leg 9 of the sealing ring 2, which is approximately perpendicular to this. The annular groove 8 serves to receive the outer edge 10 of the sealing ring when the pipe socket 1 is pushed into a tubular element 11 for a tight connection therewith (FIG. 2). The overturning of the sealing leg 9 of the sealing ring 2, which occurs here, can thus take place more easily. Also, the clamping force of the folded sealing leg acting on the tubular element is not so great that a subsequent correction of the mutual axial and rotational position of the tubes or pipe sockets pushed into one another would be impossible.
The groove 8 thus enables a rotation or a certain longitudinal displacement of the tubular element with respect to the pipe socket inserted into it, which is often necessary during assembly at the construction site.
As the outer edge 10 of the sealing ring 2 migrates into the annular groove 8, the outer edge 10 is compressed in its longitudinal direction around the wall 7 of the pipe socket 1. The sealing ring is thus subjected to an expansion force in the area of its outer edge, which increases the spring action of the ring and leads to a softer spring characteristic of the sealing leg 9. This is a rapid fatigue that z. B. would occur when the ring outer edge is squeezed on the pipe wall, avoided.
The annular groove 8 also has the purpose of ensuring a slight inclination of the sealing leg 9 of the sealing ring 2 in the inclined position shown in FIG. 1 even before the pipe socket 1 is pushed into the tubular element 11, even if the sealing ring has a rectangular exit cross section, d. H. has a sealing leg 9 at right angles to its fastening leg 2 prior to application on the pipe socket.
This happens because the outer edge 10, when the sealing ring is wrapped around the pipe socket 1, has the urge to step into the annular groove 8 before the sealing leg 2 is folded over when it is pushed into a tubular element, due to the fact that this is wrapped around the sealing leg 9 protruding somewhat perpendicularly from the pipe wall 7 is expanded at its protruding outer edge to a circumferential length which is greater than the circumferential length of the surface of the fastening leg 4 resting on the pipe wall 7.
In the one shown in FIG. The embodiment of the connecting piece is the forehead bent back outwards.
end 3 of its pipe wall 7 is kept longer than the axial length of the fastening leg 4 of the sealing ring 2.
This results in good guidance of the connecting piece when it is pushed into a tubular element. To further improve this guidance, radially outwardly directed projections in the form of lugs 13 are provided distributed over the pipe circumference.
FIG. 2 illustrates the connecting piece 1 with a tubular element 11 pushed onto it and particularly illustrates the relationships in the inclined position of the sealing leg 9.
The embodiment of the connection piece according to FIG. 3 differs from that according to FIGS. 1 and 2 only in that the outwardly bent back end 3 of the pipe wall 7 of the connection piece 1 is bent over again at its end to form a notch 12. The axial length of this impact is less than the axial length of the fastening leg 4, whereby a fixation of the fastening leg on the pipe wall 7 is ensured against slipping in the axial direction. In view of this, the annular groove 6 in the pipe wall 7 and the bead 5 engaging in this on the fastening leg 4 can be missing in this embodiment. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 3, the sealing ring 2 is seated with its clamping leg 4 on a smooth pipe wall 7 without the annular groove 6 provided in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2.
As a result of the unevenly strong compression of the fastening leg 4, the impact causes the sealing ring to be locked against axial displacement.
In this embodiment, however, the bent back end 3 of the pipe wall 7 abuts the foot of the protruding sealing leg 9 of the sealing ring 2 as long as the connecting piece 1 has not been pushed into a tubular element with the sealing leg 9 being folded over. This leads to an inclination of the sealing leg 9 into the slightly inclined position with respect to the vertical shown in Fig. 3 and, like the annular groove 8, prevents the sealing leg 9 from having a greater circumferential length on its exterior and from the pressing of its fastening leg 4 due to its tensile stress the bent back end 3 is inclined with respect to the vertical in the opposite direction, which would cause problems when inserting the connecting piece into a tubular element 11.
In Fig. 4 of the drawing, an embodiment of a connecting piece is shown, which near its front end has a groove-shaped recess 20 of its pipe wall 7, in which the sealing ring 2 sits with its fastening leg 4. The axial extension of this groove-shaped recess is dimensioned and the sealing ring 2 is arranged in this recess so that the protruding sealing leg 9 can still be received by this recess 20 when it is folded over when the connecting piece 7 is pushed into a tubular element 11 (see FIG. 2 patent application P 23 05 936. 1-12).
In this case, a clamping band 14 with a greater axial extension than the fastening leg 4 is used to clamp the fastening leg 4 of the sealing ring, so that this clamping band with its one edge against the sealing leg 9 of the sealing ring for its slightly inclined position and with its other edge against the adjacent one Side wall of the collection 20 can come to rest.
The opposite side edge of the clamping band and its pressure against the foot of the sealing leg 9 is set by stopping this edge on the adjacent side edge of the retraction, so that the desired inclination of the sealing leg 9 can be obtained in a simple manner after the exact axial position of the Sealing ring 2 is fixed with its fastening leg 4 in the recess 20 by the bead 5 engaging in the annular groove 6.
The clamping band 14 protrudes in the axial direction of the connecting piece 1 beyond the free end of the fastening leg 4 of the sealing ring. In this protruding area, the clamping band is fastened to the pipe wall 7 or in the recess 20 by welding points 15.
In the exemplary embodiments shown in FIGS. 1 to 4, the outer edge 10 of the sealing ring 2, which is angular in cross section, is sharp-edged, while the opposite inner edge of the sealing ring on which, in the exemplary embodiments according to FIGS. 3 and 4, the bent-back end 3 of the pipe wall 7 or the Clamp band 14 rest, rounded and not sharp-edged.
This results in a cross-sectional enlargement in the corner area of the sealing ring 2 between its fastening leg 4 and its sealing leg 9, which, in conjunction with the sharp outer edge, has an erecting effect on the protruding sealing leg 9, especially when the pipe socket 1 is folded over with the sealing leg 9 tubular element has been inserted or if this sealing leg has been given a certain inclination by the edge of the bent back end 3 of the pipe wall 7 or by the clamping band 14 before the pipe socket is pushed into the tubular element 11. This increases the sealing effect of the sealing leg 9.
As in the embodiment shown in Fig. 2, in all other embodiments shown, the thickness of the sealing leg 9 of the sealing ring 2 is dimensioned so that when the tubular element is pushed over, the sealing leg is not compressed or squeezed to a smaller thickness.
In Fig. 5 and 6, a manufacturing process is shown with which the clamping of the sealing ring 2 on the end of the pipe wall 7 of the connecting piece can be carried out particularly expediently. In this method, the pipe wall 7 of the pipe socket is first provided with the two annular grooves 6, 8 and then bent back at its front end outwards at 3, only to the extent that an open pocket is formed into which the sealing ring with its fastening leg 4 can easily be inserted can be pushed in until the bead 5 on the fastening leg engages in the groove 6. During this bending back of the end 3 of the pipe wall 7, the part of the pipe wall 7 located within the bending back has bent somewhat radially inward, as shown in FIG.
As a result of a pressure of a deformation tool 16 acting radially from the inside against the front end of the pipe wall 7, this pipe end, which serves as a pocket for receiving the fastening leg 4 of the sealing ring, is pressed with its bent-back part radially outwards against an abutment 17, as shown in FIG. 6 is shown. The bent-back part 3 of the front end of the pipe wall 7 is pressed firmly onto the fastening leg, so that it is clamped between the two pocket walls. By pressing the front end 3 against the abutment 17 radially outwards, a calibration of the outer diameter of the front end is obtained, which is necessary for the insertion into tubular elements 11.
Fig. 7 shows an embodiment in which the sealing ring consists of a strip 19 (Fig. 8) which is flat in cross-section before it is clamped onto the pipe wall 7, which with its one transverse half of the bent back end 3 of the pipe wall is clamped on this and through a bend 18 of the pipe wall is brought with its other transverse half to protrude radially from the pipe wall. 8 shows the introduction of this sealing strip 19, originally flat in cross section, into the pocket created by the bent back end 3 of the tube wall 7 at the insertion end of the tube socket, which pocket corresponds to the pocket shown in FIG. 5 in the exemplary embodiment there.
The clamping of the transverse half of the sealing strip 19 pushed into the pocket takes place in a manner similar to that in the method shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, namely by pressing the front end 3 radially outward against an abutment 17 with the aid of a deformation tool 16.
The clamping of the sealing ring 2 by means of the clamping band 14 can, in particular with relatively small pipe diameters of up to 60 cm, advantageously take place in the manner shown in FIGS. 10 and 11. The clamping band 14 is pulled off a tape roll 21 and passed through the two jaws 22 of a friction brake, to then be placed with its beginning on the fastening leg 4 of the sealing ring and attached to the side next to it on the circumference of the pipe socket 1 by welding. The pipe socket 1 is now set in rotation in the direction of the arrow in FIG. 10 until it has wrapped the band 14 once around its circumference, which is firmly clamped onto the fastening leg 4 by the brake jaws 22.
The tape that has been wound around is then cut off from the subsequent tape strip and its end is again attached to the beginning of the tape by spot welding.
In between, the strip can also be welded in place (by means of the weld points 15 shown in FIG. 4) on the pipe wall of the connecting piece 1.
The connection piece according to the invention can also be produced from a strip that is initially flat or flat in cross section and has a width of approximately the circumferential length of the connection piece. In this case, a groove forming the later annular groove 8 and optionally the further later annular groove 6 can be worked into this belt in the vicinity of its one end face, initially in the transverse direction of the belt. The end of the tape is then bent back in a U-shape to form a pocket, into which the sealing ring 2 with its fastening leg 4 can then be inserted. The tape can then be bent in its transverse direction to the cross-section of the connecting piece until the two longitudinal edges of the tape lie on top of one another and can be fastened to one another by rivets or in some other way. Here, the bent-back end of the transverse belt edge (e.g.
Point 3 in Fig. 5, 7 and 9) pressed firmly onto the fastening leg 4 of the sealing ring. If this pressing is not carried out sufficiently, it can also be done in the manner shown in FIGS. 6 and 9.
The pipe socket according to the invention can have any shape. It can be formed by a pipe section with a straight pipe axis, but also by a pipe section with a curved pipe axis. But it can also form part of a T-piece.
