Fig. 2 einen Schnitt nach Linie II-II in Fig. 1,
Fig. 3 eine Variante zu Fig. 2,
Will man nun den schwenkbaren Teil 8 bzw.
The invention relates to a bed with a headboard protruding above the bed surface upwards at the head end.
In the Anglo-Saxon countries in particular, adjustable headboards are relatively rare. Instead, it is customary to make the headboard, which delimits the head end of the bed, high and upholstered on the bed side so that it can serve as a backrest when sitting with the help of pillows. Due to the vertical headboard, this position is only reasonably comfortable when using lots of voluminous pillows.
The invention has for its object to provide a bed in which a relatively upright sitting position can be assumed, the z. B. Eating or reading easier.
To solve this problem, a bed of the type mentioned is characterized according to the invention that at least part of the headboard can be swiveled up about an upper horizontal axis from a vertical position in which its lower edge is closer to the foot end than in the vertical position, and that Locking means are provided to lock it in at least one of its inclined positions.
Because the headboard can be swiveled up at least partially in the manner described, it can be brought into an inclined position which makes it much more convenient to lean on than would be possible with a known vertical headboard.
In addition, leaning against a headboard that is inclined in this way is also more comfortable than leaning against a raised headboard, which hardly enables comfortable sitting because the head lacks support when the seat is upright.
Adjustment with the aid of special locking fittings, as will be discussed, for example, below, gives the possibility of adapting the inclination of the adjustable part of the headboard to the desired seating position.
A gap between the lower edge of the headboard and the lying surface can easily be bridged by raising a possible head wedge or with a simple pillow.
In addition, there is the advantage that with a suitable locking fitting, the headboard can easily be returned to the vertical position at any time and the entire lying surface can then be used for sleeping in the usual way.
Depending on the type of headboard, an external boundary frame or a support structure located behind it can serve as a holder for the bearings of the pivotable part, as will be discussed in more detail below. The pivot axis should advantageously be attached as close as possible to the upper end of the pivotable part, so that when its lower edge is pivoted up, its upper edge does not pivot too far back, where it could interfere with a wall behind the head end of the bed.
Particularly useful is a locking device, as it is known for foot elevation in base mattresses, in which z. B. on the standing part a rack can be attached, on which a slide slides, in which one end of a support lever is guided, the other end of which is pivotably mounted on the pivotable part. The end of the support lever guided in the slide can engage in the teeth of the rack in certain positions and thereby fix the inclined position selected. In a certain position, which can be reached in a manner known per se by pivoting the pivotable part up to the stop, the support lever in the slide is lifted out of the teeth so that it can return to the rest position unhindered.
Other mechanisms that function in a similar manner, as are customary in the form of joint fittings in certain couches and deck chair-like constructions, can also be used advantageously.
The invention will be discussed in more detail below with reference to the drawing, for example. It shows:
Fig. 1 is a schematic diagram of a bed according to the invention sen,
Fig. 2 is a section along line II-II in Fig. 1,
3 shows a variant of FIG. 2,
4 shows the locking fitting used in FIGS. 2 and 3 from the same point of view as in FIGS. 2 and 3, and
FIG. 5 shows the fitting in FIG. 4 in the direction of arrow V. FIG.
The bed 1 has a cuboid bed body 2, the upper surface of which forms the lying surface 3, the foot end 4 of which has no upper limit, but could be equipped with a footboard if desired. The head end 5 of the bed 1 is limited by a headboard 6 which has a frame 7 attached to the bed body 2 in which a pivotable part 8 is mounted. The pivot axis 9 of the part 8 is provided as high as possible (see. Fig. 2), and a support fitting 10 is attached between the frame 7 and the pivotable part 8, which allows the pivotable part 8 to be locked in different pivoting positions.
In contrast to the construction described in FIGS. 1 and 2, a support structure 7 ′ provided behind the headboard part 8 ′ is provided in FIG. 3 on the bed body 2, the parts 7 ′, 8 ′ being provided by a support structure located at their uppermost edge
Pivot axis 9 'are connected. Also in Fig. 3, a support fitting 10 is provided.
The support fitting 10 is shown larger in Fig. 4 and 5, and you can see a rack 11, which at both of them
Has ends holes 12 through which the rack on
Frame 7 or on the support structure 7 'can be attached. On the rack 11 sits a slide 13 in which one end 14 of a support lever 15 is guided, a bolt 16 wedged in the end 14 engaging through a window 17 in the slide 13. The other end of the support lever 15 is provided with a hole 18 through which it can be attached to the pivotable part 8 or 8 'of the headboard by means of a screw.
In the vertical position of the pivotable part 8 or 8 ', both the rack 11 and the support lever 15 are in a vertical position, as is the case for the lever 15 in FIG.
4 is shown in phantom. If the pivotable part 8 or 8 'is now grasped at its lower end and pivoted towards the foot end and upwards, it pulls the support lever 15 with it through the screw reaching through the hole 18, this being supported by the bolt 16 in the window 17 drags the slide 13 up on the rack. If you let go, the part 8 or 8 'falls downwards, whereby it also moves the lever 15 downwards, and with its tip, not shown, gets into a tooth gap of the toothing 11' of the rack 11 and is thereby locked . If one now wants to return the pivotable part 8 or 8 'to its rest position, it is first pulled up until the slide 13 is at the upper end of the rack 11, the bolt 16 reaching the window 17 at the top right.
If you now let go, the end 14 of the support lever 15 cannot get into a tooth of the toothing 11 ', but rather it hits the part of the rack marked 11 "and slides down on it. As the slide 13 is actuated by a spring 13 'is mounted on the rack 11 with a friction fit, it remains stationary for the time being, so that the bolt 16 now enters the part 17' of the window 17 before it moves the slide 13. However, the end 14 of the lever 15 is outside of the area of the teeth 11 ', so that the lever 15 together with the slide 13 can return to the position shown in phantom in FIG. 4.
While in the case of a construction according to FIG. 3 the fitting 10 can be installed without special measures, in the case of the construction according to FIG. 2 it is advantageous to make recesses for the fitting 10 in parts 7 and 8 so that it works properly, but from the front of the bed is at most in the swiveled-up state of the part 8 and then only visible from the side.
Of course, the headboard 6 can be upholstered or otherwise decorated in a manner known per se, and the outer contour can also be designed according to taste requirements. A rectangular outline was chosen here for the sake of easier understanding.
