la fig. 1 représente, en coupe longitudinale, une première forme de réalisation de l'invention;
la fig. 2 est une vue similaire à la fig. 1 mais montrant la disposition lors d'un déclenchement en sécurité sur chute avant;
la fig. 3 est un détail, à plus grande échelle, montrant les profils d'emboîtement;
la fig. 4 est une vue en plan, en coupe partielle, d'une seconde forme d'exécution comportant un système à ressort avec biellette;
D'ailleurs, on
The present invention relates to a device for automatically returning and centering a boot in a determined position on a ski, where it is capable of being immobilized by at least one releasable safety binding, this device comprising at least one connecting member. connecting the boot to the ski so that, when the safety binding is triggered, the boot can move away from the ski while remaining connected to it by means of said connecting member and a system of complementary profiles of which the one is integral with the boot and the other with the ski and which cooperate when the boot is in place on the ski.
Devices are already known for returning a boot to the position of a ski after a constraint, due for example to a fall, has moved the boot from its normal position.
A first type of known device consists of a plate which fits under the sole of the boot and which is held on the ski by adjustable tension rubber cables connecting each end of the plate to a fixed point on the ski. The rubber cables play both the role of fixing and restoring the boot in position on the ski. However, with this system which is not a releasable binding, the boot cannot, at any time, separate from the ski, which represents a serious drawback especially in the event of a front fall; in fact, the elastic cables only allow a relatively small displacement of the boot relative to the ski; if it is suddenly blocked, the weight of the body thrown forward will exert considerable strain on the bones of the leg.
Another type of known device is used with a closed heel and a releasable safety stopper and consists of a flexible and possibly elastic link hooked by one end to a fixed point of the ski close to the heel and cooperating by its other end with an assembly. straps integral with the rear part of the shoe. The purpose of this flexible link is to prevent the boot from completely separating from the ski following a safe release of the safety bindings and also to recall and center the boot on the ski. However, this device uses a multiplicity of parts which require delicate adjustment and a great deal of time to put them in place, given the presence of straps to be buckled on the shoe.
A last type of known device intended to be associated with a releasable safety fixing consists of a long cable wound on a drum which is urged by a spring in a wound cable position, this cable comprising a coupling element intended for engage with a complementary coupling element fixed to the boot, when the latter is engaged in the safety binding. When triggered safely, the boot separates from the ski to which it remains connected by the cable unwinding against the action of the drum spring. However, such a device is heavy, bulky; it requires many components and especially rotating parts which risk being blocked by snow or ice, thus seriously disrupting their operation.
The present invention, on the other hand, provides a device as defined above which eliminates the drawbacks of known devices.
For this purpose, the device of the invention is characterized in that the profile integral with the ski is provided in a centering block fixed to the ski, while the profile integral with the boot is located substantially along the longitudinal axis of the shoe, these two profiles being biased towards each other in the plane of the ski by the cable of the connecting member which extends substantially parallel to the plane of the ski and along the longitudinal axis of the latter, a its ends being housed in the fixed centering block and the other end in the profile integral with the boot, the action of said member tending to keep the two profiles in contact with one another.
Advantageously, the connecting member is elastic and consists in particular of at least one cable, one end of which is fixed to one of the two interlocking profiles, while the other is movably mounted in the second profile while being stressed. by a spring. However, the cable could itself be elastic. The interlocking profiles preferably extend along an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the ski for the profile of the centering block and along an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the boot for the complementary profile.
To ensure the interlocking, one of the profiles is hollow and has a generally conical or truncated pyramid shape, the second profile then projecting and of a corresponding shape.
To allow the profiles to be released from each other when the boot is raised, the upper wall of the hollow profile, at least, will be rounded on its edge directed towards the ski, and it will be the same for the lower edge of the projecting profile.
According to a preferred embodiment, the hollow profile is provided in the centering block and along the longitudinal axis of the ski, and the projecting profile is provided axially at the end of a plate secured to the boot sole. . In this case, the cable of the connecting member is fixed by one end to the projecting profile of the plate and it slidably passes through the hollow profile of the centering block in which its other end is subjected to the action of 'an axial spring.
However, provision could also be made to fix the cable at one end in the hollow profile of the centering block, while its other end would be housed in the plate where it would be subjected to the action of a spring system.
According to a preferred embodiment, the spring system performs two successive tension phases on the cable, one of the tension phases being provided by a single elastic member, such as a spring, while the second tension phase is caused by an articulated member relaying, by its displacement, the force of the spring.
This system is particularly suitable for facilitating the fitting of the boot on the ski by applying to said boot a sufficient return force, regardless of the relative position of the fitting profiles. It is in fact observed that when only a spring is used to ensure the elastic return, the return force is proportional to the tension of this spring and, consequently, to the distance between the two interlocking profiles. It is therefore understood that the restoring force decreases as the profiles approach to become relatively weak when the profiles are nested, which constitutes a drawback, the profiles running the risk of being insufficiently guided.
The complementary system of the invention makes it possible to remedy, in a simple manner, this drawback by providing, at the time preceding the fitting and in order to facilitate it, to increase the return force, this increase not taking place by an action on the spring tension but via the articulated member which can be constituted by a connecting rod coupled, on the one hand to the cable, and on the other hand to the return spring and capable of moving suddenly to cause a modification of the lever arm by which the spring exerts its action on the cable.
Naturally, this spring system can be mounted both in the plate integral with the shoe sole and in the centering block.
Two preferred embodiments of the present invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
fig. 1 shows, in longitudinal section, a first embodiment of the invention;
fig. 2 is a view similar to FIG. 1 but showing the disposition during a safety release on a front fall;
fig. 3 is a detail, on a larger scale, showing the interlocking profiles;
fig. 4 is a plan view, in partial section, of a second embodiment comprising a spring system with link;
fig. 5 is a detail, on a larger scale, of the spring system of FIG. 4, and
fig. 6 is a section taken along line 6-6 of FIG. 5.
In the following description, similar members have been indicated by the same reference numbers.
First of all, the simplest embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 3.
In these figures, a ski is designated by 1, by 2 a boot and by 3 a removable plate intended to be secured to the sole of the boot in order to be able to fit the ski.
The plate 3 comprises at the front a jaw 4 adjustable in height in a known manner, for example by means of teeth, as has been shown, this jaw being lockable by screws in the adjusted position. This adjustment allows adaptation of the jaw to shoe soles of variable height. At the rear, the shoe is secured to the plate by a conventional lever system 5 mounted to tilt around a branch 5 'of a stirrup 6, the ends 7 of which are housed in holes of a series of holes 8 made. in the sides of the plate to allow adaptation to the length of the shoe sole. In the position shown in the drawings, the lever system is closed and its lower beak 10 is clamped against the shoe sole. To loosen the system, it suffices to press on its head 9 to tilt it back.
The plate has at the rear a part 1 1 intended to cooperate with a multidirectional trigger safety binding, this part having a ramp 12 with a transverse V-profile and which engages with the projecting end of a piston 13 of the binding slidably mounted in a base 14 fixed to the ski, the piston being biased towards the ramp 12 by a spring 15 acting between a flange 16 of the piston and a threaded bush 17 through which the piston passes and the operation of which makes it possible to adjust the calibration of the spring 15.
The plate axially has an elongated male profile at the front, the shape of which may be that of a truncated cone, or better still of a truncated pyramid (as shown in FIG. 3). The lower front edge of the male profile is rounded at 21.
This male profile is designed to fit into a female profile 23 of corresponding shape made in a centering block 22 fixed to the ski 1. The upper edge 24 of the inlet of the female profile is also rounded. The ridge 21 and the rounded edge 24 make it possible, on the one hand, to facilitate the fitting of the profiles and also to facilitate the lifting of the rear of the plate when it escapes the safety fixing.
A cable 25 is sealed at one end inside the male profile 20 and passes through an opening 26 made in the centering block to extend into a channel 27 so that the head 28 of the cable can slide there freely. A spring 29 surrounds the part of the cable located in the channel 27 by resting on the one hand on the head 28 and on the other hand on the bottom of the channel. Advantageously, the front of the channel opens outwards to allow possible access to the cable, a cover 30, fixed by screws for example, closing the channel to prevent the introduction of snow or other foreign bodies. It will be noted that in the position of FIG. 1, the spring 29 still exerts a tension on the cable 25.
With the arrangement shown in FIG. 1, in which the length of penetration 31 of the profile 20 in the hollow profile is greater than the distance 32 between the part 11 and the base 14 of the safety fixing, it is understood that all the safety releases, that they are vertical, lateral or compound, are made at the rear since the binding cannot release from the front.
However, this arrangement is not imperative and provision could be made for at least one of the triggers to occur by escape at the front of the profile projecting out of the hollow profile against the action of the return spring 29 and the spring fixing 16.
It will also be noted, and this is valid for all the arrangements described here, that the cable or the return link could be housed with their elastic member (if the link is not elastic by itself) in the base of the safety fixing. We could also predict the opposite case to the one we have shown, it is
i.e. the binding of the boot to the ski being made by the heel
while the triggers would be at the front. Moreover, we
will understand that the binding of the boot to the ski could be
located in any other suitable place, for example under the
plate when it is in its normal position. In addition, we
could of course provide two links or cables instead of one
alone, these being advantageously arranged symmetrically by
relative to the longitudinal axis of the ski.
Finally, to prevent the cable from twisting following a safe release and to avoid having to turn the
ski by hand to put the cable back in the correct position, you can
provide an anti-lock device such as for example an emery
lon 33 as shown in FIG. 2.
We will now describe a second embodiment of
the invention with reference to FIGS. 4 to 6, in which the device
recall is of the two-effort type.
In this example, the recessed profile is also provided in
the fixed centering block, while the projecting profile 20 belongs
to plate 3. The cable 25 is fixed at one end to the
centering 22 and slidably traverses the front end of the
plate 3 to extend inside the chamber 37 made at
inside the plate. The 38 end of the cable is mounted in
a yoke 39 articulated around an axis 40 integral with the end
a branch 40 'of a bent part 41. The branch 40' of the
part 41 is pierced with an oblong slot 42 which can move
on a fixed axis 45 integral with the walls of the plate 3. It should be noted
that the assembly of the axis 43 in the lumen is carried out so
that these two organs rub against each other.
The second
branch of part 41 is connected by its free end at 44 to
the end of a spring 45 hooked by its other end in a
fixed point 46 of plate 3.
- The operation of this system is as follows:
When the profile 20 is nested in the centering block 22
as shown in fig. 4, that is, when the shoe is
retained on the ski, the return system is in the position shown
shown in solid lines in FIG. 5.
Following a safe release, when the shoe
separates from the ski, the cable remaining stationary, the elbow piece 41
first swings around axis 43 in the direction of arrow F
by exerting a traction on the spring 45. Simultaneously, the
part 41 slides on the axis 43 and, at the end of the stroke, part 41 takes the
position in dotted line, the spring 45 being fully tensioned
mum. To put the boot back on the ski, the tension
of the spring 45 urges the plate 3 again towards the cen block
trage while relaxing, the elbow piece 41 pivoting around
axis 43.
At this time, the protruding profile 20 is about to snap into place.
ter in the centering block, but the spring 43 is in its position
of almost minimal tension and therefore no longer requests the plate 3
forward. On the other hand, the angled piece 41 being in the position
at the end of FIG. 5, it can suddenly slide along
axis 43 to reach again the position in solid line, this
sudden displacement causing pulling on the end 38
of the cable and therefore facilitating the interlocking of the profiles.
It will be noted that, even in the position in strong line of FIG. 5,
spring 45 is under tension in order to allow operation
correct device.
