Abstract

The weft picker of a loom is carried on an endless apertured belt engaging a toothed wheel connected to a lead screw. Co-operating with the lead screw is a slide with rollers engaging the thread of the lead screw. The slide is reciprocated along the lead screw by a crank mechanism driven by the main drive shaft whereby the lead screw and toothed wheel are rotated to drive the belt and reciprocate the picker across the loom. The mechanism can operate at high speeds with high acceleration and minimal vibrations.
