The invention relates to a window sill bracket for fastening in a window frame made of wood, with an elongated support and a bolt projecting therefrom and intended to engage in a bore in the window frame.
In previously known window sill brackets of this type, a welded-on mounting plate was necessary with which the bracket could be attached to the frame by screws or nails.
The object to be solved by the invention is to simplify such window sill brackets in the production and assembly and thus to make them cheaper.
The invention is characterized in that the bolt has at least one radially protruding projection on its part intended to engage in the bore, which, after the bolt has been inserted into the bore and partially rotated, is intended to secure the bolt against being pulled out.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing.
In a window frame 1 made of wood, at least two downwardly opening vertical bores 2 are made in the lower horizontal beam. These bores 2 have a diameter such that a cylindrical bolt 4 can engage in this bore 2 with a tight fit and without play. The bolt 4 protrudes from a metallic carrier 3 and is rigidly connected to this, for example welded or riveted. The horizontally running carrier is designed as a square hollow profile and serves to support a customary window ledge, not shown in the drawing, whereby it is fastened by screws or the like, which are inserted into holes 7.
In the outermost third of the bolt length there is a transverse pin 5, which is firmly seated in the bolt 4 and protrudes equally far beyond it on both sides. The diameter of this pin 5 preferably corresponds to approximately half the bolt diameter and its length is approximately 1.4 to 2 times, preferably approximately 1.7 times, the bolt diameter. In the carrier 3 there is a hole 8 running parallel to the bolt 4, through which a screw or a nail can be inserted from below, for the purpose of securing against rotation relative to the frame 1 in the assembled state.
During assembly, the carrier 3 is initially arranged parallel to the longitudinal direction of the beam and in this position the bolt 4 is driven into the bore 2 - i.e. in the direction of arrow A until the top 9 of the carrier 3 rests against the surface 10 of the frame 1. The pin 5 digs two grooves running parallel to the bolt 4 in the wood. Since the cross pin 5 running parallel to the longitudinal direction of the carrier 3 lies approximately in the longitudinal direction of the fibers, the penetration of the cross pin 5 into the wood is relatively easy. After the bolt 4 has completely penetrated into the bore 2, the carrier 3 is rotated by 900C so that it assumes the position shown in the drawing. The transverse pin 5 digs into the wood and displaces it in its pivoting range. The bolt 4 is then secured against being pulled out within the framework of the forces that usually occur.
Afterwards, the carrier 3 is secured against undesired rotation by a screw or nail inserted into the hole 8 and engaging the frame 1, and a window ledge resting on the top 9 is fastened by screws or nails which are inserted into the holes 7.
Instead of a pin, differently designed projections protruding somewhat radially from the bolt 4 could also be used.
It would also be possible to provide more than one transverse pin 5.
