Abstract
The equipment is particularly for a French-type room chimney, and comprises a hollow metal plate with baffles (2) forming between them a zigzag path. The plat is heated by the grate, and a fan is provided for delivering air under pressure to the entrance (3) to the zigzag path. The hollow plate can comprise one section with the baffles, and a second one, enclosing the latter, fixed to the first one. Alternatively it can comprise a baseplate and two side plates, together with a sole plate. The design recovers a large amount of the heat produced which is in an open grate and which would normally be lost.
Description

We know that the majority of the heat produced by an open hearth of an apartment chimney, called a French chimney, escapes in vain through the chimney.
A heat recovery device is known consisting of tubes forming a hot air duct obliquely passing through the duct of the chimney; these devices allow only part of this heat to be recovered.
The object of the invention is a device making it possible to recover a large part of the heat produced by the open hearth.
This device is characterized in that it comprises at least one hollow metal plate having baffles forming a coil, this plate being intended to be heated by said hearth, a fan being provided to send pressurized air to the inlet of said coil.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of part of the device with a part broken away.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view along A-A of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a schematic sectional view of the embodiment.
The device shown in FIG. 3 comprises four heating plates 1 fixed respectively on the bottom, the sides and the hearth of the hearth. These plates shown in detail in figs. 1 and 2 are hollow and have baffles 2 forming a coil. These plates may have come from a foundry part or be formed of two parts, one having the coils and the other 1b closing the part 1a. The part 1b can be fixed to the part 1a by screws or by welding.
A fan 5 is provided to send pressurized air to the inlets 3 of the plates, this air, heated along the coil by the fireplace leaving through the outlets 5. These hot air outlets 5 are used to heat either the room where is the hearth, that is to say separate rooms of the dwelling.
There is no problem with installing such a device in an existing or new open-hearth apartment fireplace.
An additional slanted plate can be added in the upper part of the fireplace.
The advantages of the device are numerous: low cost, ease of installation, high heat recovery. Due to the thermal inertia of the cast iron used,
The hot air is distributed even after the fire is extinguished.
Thermostat-controlled valves can also be provided on the hot air outlets to regulate the temperature of the heated rooms.
CLAIM
Device for recovering heat from an open hearth, in particular from an apartment fireplace called a French fireplace, characterized by the fact that it comprises at least one hollow metal plate having baffles forming a coil, this plate being intended to be heated by said fireplace, a fan being provided to send pressurized air to the inlet of said coil.
SUB-CLAIMS
1. Device according to claim, characterized in that the hollow plate is formed by two parts, the first carrying the baffles and the other, closing these baffles, being fixed on the first.
2. Device according to claim, characterized in that it comprises a base plate and two side plates.
3. Device according to claim, and sub-claim 2, characterized in that it further comprises a sole plate.
