Abstract
The screen has an array of apertures and is made from an electrically insulating and/or photo-conductive material provided with a conductive layer with the image to be printed provided on the screen as an electrostatic charge image of opposing polarities. An electric field of such intensity and polarity is provided via the apertures in the screen, so that under the effect of an electrical acceleration field in the direction of the screen, the charged particles block some of the screen apertures, while other apertures are enlarged, so that charged particles at the rear of the screen adopt the configuration of the required image. The electric field through the screen apertures may be provided by providing both sides of the screen with a similar charge pattern.
