The main patent relates to a molding sand mixer for preparing a mixture of sand and an additive. which molding sand mixer has an inlet for the sand, an annular gap for the sand following the inlet, then an annular admixing space, further a feed device for the additive leading into the annular admixing space and an outlet for the mixture, characterized in that between the admixing space and two relatively rotatable bodies of revolution are arranged at the outlet, between which an annular gap is left free for the mixture.
and that in this intermediate space on the walls of the rotating bodies at least one projection is provided towards the intermediate space, the projection of one rotating body and the projection of the other rotating body overlapping one another in the direction perpendicular to the walls of the rotating bodies.
The invention relates to an improvement of this molding sand mixer. wherein a compressed air line is provided which leads compressed air in the vicinity of the mouth of a line present in the feed device for the additive.
The feed device can open in the middle area of the annular admixing space, and the compressed air line can open outside the mouth of the line for the additive. The invention is explained below using an exemplary embodiment. The single figure of the drawing shows a preferred embodiment of a molding sand mixer in an axial longitudinal section. The parts have been given the same reference numerals as in the main patent specification, reference is also made to the description thereof.
The molding sand mixer enables improved acceleration and improved mixing of the components of the additive and thereby improved impregnation of the sand with the additive in the admixing space 3.
In the embodiment to be described, the feed device for the additive with lines 5 and 6 for the individual components of the additive is located in the middle of the molding sand mixer and opens into the middle area of the annular admixing chamber 3. To accelerate and mix the two components of the additive a compressed air line 60 is provided, which leads the compressed air in the vicinity of the mouths of the lines 5 and 6 for the components of the additive. The compressed air line 60 opens outside the mouths of the lines 5 and 6.
In another embodiment, it would be conceivable that the compressed air line would lead the compressed air into the line for the additive in the vicinity of its mouth.
It would also be conceivable that the additive could be introduced radially from the outside into the admixing space 3.
The mouth of the compressed air line is provided with a nozzle 62. The compressed air line 60 is connected to a compressed air source (not shown) and is provided with a shut-off valve 61. This valve 61 can be remotely controlled.
A cup-shaped chamber 63, which is open with respect to the admixing space 3 and into which the lines 5 and 6 for the components of the additive and the compressed air line 60 open, is arranged on the feed device. The nozzle 62 is inserted into the cylindrical wall of the cup-shaped chamber 63 in such a way that the compressed air flows tangentially into the cup-shaped chamber 63. The mouths of the lines 5 and 6 for the components of the additive are directed against the cylindrical wall of the cup-shaped chamber 63.
The air vortex generated in the cup-shaped chamber 63 completely mixes the components of the additive, which mixture flows with great energy into the admixing chamber 3, where the sand is completely saturated with the additive-air mixture.
