Fig. 2 einen Querschnitt desselben Durchlaufes in gedrehter Stellung.

The subject of the main patent is a passage for pouring a mold, which has beam deflection means and is arranged separately from the mold and can be automatically emptied.
The development in the foundry leads to ever larger molds in automated systems. The larger the molds or the hotter they have to be poured, the more difficult it is to fill the molds quickly enough.
In practice, this development leads to ever larger specific pouring quantities, especially at the start of pouring.
The greater the specific pouring quantity that has to be selected at the beginning of pouring, the more intense the swirling and splashing of the metal jet when it hits the still empty pouring basin.
The invention is based on the object of arranging and designing a passage in such a way that the casting process can be carried out with the smallest possible turbulence even with the largest specific poured quantity and spraying of the metal jet is avoided.
This object is achieved in that the passage is arranged to be movable with respect to the casting mold and is provided with a device by means of which the passage can be placed on the casting mold and lifted from it.
A particularly favorable embodiment of the invention provides for the passage to be tilted, which prevents both residual liquid metal from dripping from the passage itself and liquid metal dripping from the feed container through the passage onto the mold. This avoids the well-known disruptions that result from the dripping of liquid metal in high-performance casting systems.
Another embodiment provides a passage which can be rotated about an approximately vertical axis which approximately coincides with the entry axis of the metal beam. This embodiment has the advantage that, if necessary, the liquid metal can be fed to a sand bed or a return transport vessel by rotating the passage.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawings and is described in more detail below.
Show it:
1 shows a cross section through a passage in a position lifted from a casting mold and
Fig. 2 shows a cross section of the same passage in a rotated position.
1 shows a passage 1, the underside 3 of which is provided with a support surface 4 which forms a closure when the passage 1 is placed on a casting mold 5.
The illustration shows the passage 1 lifted off the casting mold 5. In addition, the contour 6 shows the passage 1 in the position placed on the casting mold 5. The casting mold 5 is provided with a pouring basin 7 in the example shown.
Purpose of aligning the outlet 2 from the passage 1 to the top 10 and to the pouring basin 7 of the casting mold 5, the passage 1 is advantageously designed to be vertically and laterally adjustable. On the circumference 8 of the passage 1, an annular support 11 is provided as a support for a bracket 12 encompassing the passage 1. A tilting device 13, the drive of which forms a pneumatically or hydraulically operated cylinder 14, is connected to the holder 12. A support structure 15, which is set up along the casting mold 5 and separated from it, serves as a support for the tilting device 13. It is easily possible to operate several passes arranged side by side from the same device.
A feed container 16 for liquid metal 9 with a stopper 17 and a nozzle 18 through which the liquid metal 9 is fed to the pass 1 is located above the passage 1, for example. The arrangement of the nozzle 18 of the feed container 16 is selected in such a way that the liquid metal 9 impinges on the casting mold 5 both in the position of the passage 1 placed on it and in the position of the passage 1 raised therefrom.
Fig. 2 shows the pass 1 rotated by 180 about its vertical axis. The rotary movement is carried out manually or mechanically in a manner not shown. The axis 19 corresponds approximately to the entry axis of the metal beam 20. In the position shown, the outlet 2 of the passage 1 is rotated via a return transport vessel 21, which enables, for example, residual metal melt that cannot be poured into the molds 5 to be returned. Instead of a return transport vessel 21, a bed of sand can also be provided which receives the melt 9 if necessary.
The present invention is not limited to the shape of pass 1 shown. The exit of the liquid metal from a passage should, however, expediently be designed as an approximately vertical outlet.
The mode of operation of the device shown consists in that the casting molds 5 are shifted in cycles, with the sprue basin 7 of the mold 5 to be poured coming to lie under the outlet 2 of the passage 1 lifted off the casting mold 5 after each cycle. Subsequently, by means of the tilting device 13, the passage 1 is placed on the casting mold 5 and then poured, with liquid metal 9 being poured through the passage 1 into the casting mold 5 from the feed container 16. Subsequent to the casting process, the passage 1 is lifted from the casting mold 5 by means of the tilting device 13, after which the casting molds 5 are shifted by a further clock unit.
The advantages that can be achieved with the present invention are in particular that the pouring process can be carried out without damaging turbulence or splashing even with the largest specific poured amount by means of the passage that can be placed on the casting mold and the resulting closure compared to the casting mold. As a result, pouring can be improved in terms of casting technology, since the pouring basin is filled more quickly and, in particular, the entrainment of slag is practically avoided. A significant reduction in breakdowns is achieved by preventing metal splash. Another advantage is the increase in performance of the casting device due to an increase in the specific casting amount.
