The invention relates to a method and to a system for the continuous packaging of objects in non-perforated shrink films. so that they enclose the objects on all sides.
In known methods, the procedure is that the foils are welded closed under a vacuum bell, which is laborious and expensive.
The invention also does not want to create a method in which packaging takes place under vacuum, but rather only encapsulates the object to be packaged in an air- and moisture-tight shrink film. It has been shown that this does not require a high vacuum, but that a low negative pressure is sufficient. However, this is necessary; one would include air under atmospheric pressure in the film. the film would thus form a balloon around the object during subsequent shrinkage. However, it is desirable for the film to come into full contact with the object as it shrinks.
Such packaging, which cannot be classified under the term vacuum pack, aims to better protect the packaged object against moisture than is possible with packaging with perforated films.
This can be important when shipping to tropical areas. Objects packed in perforated shrink film are sometimes stored outdoors because the layman cannot see the perforation and thinks that the film is waterproof.
According to the invention, objects are continuously packaged in non-perforated shrink films according to a method.
where you go about it. that the object to be packaged is wrapped with a film tape roll at a first separating / welding station. which is dimensioned so that it protrudes over the object on both sides. has open ends. conveys the pre-packaged object to a second, double-sided separating / welding station, in which the open ends protruding on both sides are guided into air suction devices arranged on both sides with the help of guide rails. which extract some of the air trapped in the tape roll. after which, with continued suction, separating welding jaws protruding on both sides over the air suction device, the tape roll closes on both sides. and that finally the object, which is now enclosed in film on all sides, is fed to a shrink tunnel where the film is.
thanks to the previous suction, it shrinks around the object without ballooning.
The invention also relates to a system for performing the method.
In the drawing, in FIGS. 1 and 2, an exemplary embodiment of a system according to the invention is shown schematically in a view from above and from the side. Fig. 3 shows a vertical section of the system approximately along the line 111-111 in Fig. 1 in more detail.
FIGS. I and 2 show a system for the ongoing packaging of objects in non-perforated shrink films.
It comprises a number of conveyor belts, namely a first conveyor belt F 1 that feeds the objects G to be packaged to a first welding station S1. A second conveyor belt consists of two synchronously driven, narrow belts F2, F2 ', the distance between which is adjustable. so that they support the object, the ends of the film tape roll protruding laterally beyond the object, however. A third conveyor belt F3 is made up of heat-resistant rods which guide the object through a heated shrink tunnel T.
The welding station S 1 is equipped with separating welding jaws. which simultaneously produce two weld seams and a separating seam in between. As a result, a so-called film curtain will always be present here, which is formed from parts of both film supply rolls VI, V2, which are connected to one another by a weld seam.
The two welding stations S2 and S2 'have welding jaws that form a weld and a separating seam. The weld seam is on the side closer to the object to be packaged. In the area of the welding stations S2, S2 'there are also air suction devices LA and LA'. These each comprise an air suction funnel and adjoining guide rails L, L ', which guide the ends of the film tape roll protruding beyond the object into the suction funnel. The design of these funnels and guide rails is described in more detail with reference to FIG. 3. A radial fan RG is used to extract the air, the suction opening of which is connected to the suction funnel by means of hoses.
When the system is in operation, objects G to be packed are continuously fed via the conveyor belt F1. Guide rails el, e center the object shown as a dotted area before it arrives at the welding station S1. There it is pushed into the film curtain by a feed device (not shown). Now the welding jaws of station S1 close and form a film tape roll around the object as indicated at G I. The two conveyor belts F2, F2 'bring the pre-packaged article G I to the two welding stations S2, S2', where they stop briefly so that air can be sucked out and then separating weld seams can be produced on both sides.
The separated film residues are sucked off and then blown out of the blow-out opening of the blower RG. The now fully packaged objects are then conveyed on by the belts F2, F2 'and arrive at the conveyor belt F3, which guides them through the shrink tunnel T.
In Fig. 3, the welding stations S2, S2 'with the associated air suction devices are shown in more detail. The figure shows the elements already mentioned. like: the two narrow conveyor belts F2, F2 ', the welding stations S2, S2'. the air suction devices LA, LA 'and the radial fan RG.
The two conveyor belts F2, F2 ′ are driven by two rollers 11 arranged on a common shaft 10. The distance X of the bands from one another is adjustable so that it can be adapted to the size of the item to be packaged. They support it in such a way that the ends 12, 12 'of the film tape roll protruding laterally beyond the object are exposed. The two welding stations S2, S2 'are built identically. In Fig. 3 the left welding station S2 'is shown in section, the right S2 partially in view. The left welding station is shown in the open position, the right in the operating position. The upper welding jaws 13 and the lower, teflom> -coated counter-holding jaws 14 are guided on lateral swivel arms 15.
The swivel arms are rotatably mounted on swivel shafts 16, and these in turn are operatively connected to one another by means of toothed wheels 17 so that the jaws close like pliers during operation.
The closed position is shown in Fig. 3 at station S2 '.
The welding jaws are actuated by a hydraulic drive 18. The upper welding jaws 13 each contain a part a for producing a weld seam and a part b for severing the film behind the weld seam.
The described arrangement makes it possible to arrange an air suction funnel LA, LA 'directly behind the welding jaws 13, 14. Guide rails L, L 'connect to the suction funnels. The air suction funnels LA, LA 'are connected to the suction opening of the radial fan RG by means of hoses 19, 19'. A flanged electric motor 20 drives the impeller of the fan RG. The fan is fixed in the frame 21 of the system. For the sake of clarity, only part of this is shown. Of course, the welding stations u. the air suction devices are stored in the frame. The welding station and suction device are adjustable in height along guide rods 22 so that the weld seam can be applied halfway up the object.
In addition, the welding stations, like the conveyor belts F2, F2 ', are also mounted laterally adjustable in the frame so that their position (within certain limits) can be adapted to the width of the object to be packaged. The adjustability of the welding stations and the air suction devices is indicated on the right in FIG. 3 by arrows.
