Abstract

A fastener consisting of at least one piece of metal (9) having a row of serrations or spikes. This is positioned in an orifice into a hole (7) made into the two workpieces (5, 6) made of wood etc. and then forced outward so that the spikes are entered into the wall of the hole joining the two pieces together. Two fasteners are preferred diametrically opposite with a plug (14) which can be inserted between them to maintain them in position. Preferably the fastener is aligned in the orifice by means of a magnetic feeder and subsequently by means of a compression bolt the serrations are forced into the surface layers of the wood within the orifice.
