Die Verbindung der Formel I lässt sich erfindungsgemäss durch Umsetzung einer Verbindung der Formel II (CH3)2N-CH=N-CH3 II mit zwei Äquivalenten Phenylisocyanat der Formel III

Die Herstellung der Verbindung der Formel I kann wie folgt durchgeführt werden:
Das N,N,N -Trimethylformamidin der Formel II wird in Gegenwart eines geeigneten Lösungsmittels, wie z. B. einem Kohlenwasserstoff. wie Petroläther oder Cyclohexan, oder einem Äther, wie Diäthyläther, gegebenenfalls in Anwesenheit eines Katalysators, wie z. B. eines tertiären Amins, vorzugsweise unter Kühlung bei 0 und unter Feuchtigkeitsausschluss mit z'veiÄquivalenten Phenylisocyanat der Formel III in einem der oben erwähnten Lösungsmittel versetzt. Das Gemisch wird über einen gewissen Zeitraum, vorzugsweise 3 Tage, bei Raumtemperatur im geschlossenen Gefäss stehengelassen und anschliessend in der üblichen Weise aufgearbeitet.
Die erfindungsgemäss hergestellte Verbindung der Formel I fällt kristallin an. Die IR- und NMR-Daten der Verbindung der Formel I stehen in Einklang mit der angegebenen Struktur.
Die als Ausgangsstoff für die Synthese der Verbindung der Formel I benötigten Verbindungen der Formel II und III sind bekannt.
Die erfindungsgemäss hergestellte Verbindung der Formel I zeigt eine hervorragende Wirkung gegen unerwünschten Pflanzenwuchs, besonders gegen dicotyle Unkräuter, wie z. B. Amaranthus retroflexus, Capsella bursa pastoris, Chenopodium album, Stellaria media, Senecio vulgaris etc., sowie gegen unerwünschte Gräser, wie z. B. Echinochloa crus galli u. a.
Neben der ausgezeichneten Wirkung gegen Unkräuter zeigt die Verbindung der Formel I eine hervorragende Selektivität bei der Anwendung in verschiedenen Kulturpflanzen.
Die Bekämpfung der Unkräuter wird nach üblichen Verfahren vorgenommen, z. B. durch Behandlung der Unkräuter mit den Wirkstoffen.
Die Herstellung der herbiziden Mittel, die den erfindungsgemäss hergestelltenWirkstoff der Formel I enthalten, erfolgt in an sich bekannter Weise durch inniges Vermischen und Vermahlen der Verbindung der Formel I mit geeigneten Trä gerstoffen.
Die Verbindung kann in Mischung mit den bei Herbiziden üblichen Verdünnungsmitteln und Trägerstoffen zur Anwendung gelangen. Die so erhaltenen herbiziden Mittel können mit den üblichen Applikationsgeräten nach bekannten Methoden dem Boden zugesetzt oder auf die Unkräuter aufgetragen werden. Die Anwendung kann entweder auf die bereits von Unkräutern befallenen Stellen oder vor dem Auflaufen der Unkräuter erfolgen. Der Wirkstoff karin in den üblichen Formulierungn zur Anwendung gelangen, vorzugsweise in der im folgenden angegebenen Formulierung als Emulsionskonzentrat.
Die Herstellung der Formulierungen erfolgt in an sich bekannter Weise durch inniges Vermischen und Vermahlen der Verbindung der Formel I mit geeigneten Trägerstoffen.
Zur Herstellung von festen Anwendungsformen, wie Stäubemitteln, Streumitteln, Granulaten etc., wird der Wirkstoff mit festen Trägerstoffen vermischt. Als Trägerstoffe können z. B. Kaolin, Talkum, Kreide, Kalkstein, Cellulosepulver etc.
verwendet werden.
Diesen Gemischen können ferner Stoffe, die die Haftfestigkeit auf Pflanzen und Pflanzenteilen verbessern und/oder eine bessere Benetzbarkeit sowie Dispergierbarkeit gewährleisten, zugesetzt werden.
Das erfindungsgemäss hergestellte Herbizid kann auch in Mischung mit geeigneten bekannten Herbiziden, z. B. der Klasse der Harnstoffe, Halogenbenzonitrile, Carbamate, Triazine, angewendet werden.
Die Wirkstofformulierungen enthalten beispielsweise zwischen 2 und 80 Gewichtsprozent Wirkstoff, vorzugsweise zwischen 2 und 50%. Die Anwendungsformen enthalten beispielsweise zwischen 0,01 und 10 Gewichtsprozent Wirkstoff.
Das erfindungsgemäss hergestellte Herbizid kann in Dosierungen von 1 bis 10 kg/ha, je nach der verwendeten Substanz und dem gewünschten herbiziden Effekt, angewendet werden.
Das nachfolgende Beispiel dient zur Erläuterung der Formulierung der Verbindung der Formel I, ohne die Erfindung einzuschränken.
Beispiel
10 Gewichtsteile 6-Dimethylamino-1,3-diphenyl-5-methyl hexahydro-s-triazin-2,4-dion, 25 Gewichtsteile eines Emulgators, bestehend aus 36% Isooctylphenyldekaglykoläther, 24% Calciumduodecylbenzolsulfonat und 40 Gewichtsteilen einer vorwiegend aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffreaktion vom Siedepunkt 200-260o, werden mit 65 Gewichtsteilen Dimethylformamid vermischt. Das Emulsionskonzentrat wird mit Wasser auf die gewünschte Konzentration verdünnt.
Zur Veranschaulichung der hervorragenden Wirksamkeit wird in der nachfolgenden Tabelle die Wirkung des herbiziden Mittels, das die Verbindung der Formel I als Wirkstoff in der angegebenen Formulierung enthält, angegeben; die Erfindung soll dadurch aber in keiner Weise eingeschränkt werden. Die in der Tabelle durch die Ziffern 1 bis 9 angegebenen Bewertungen bedeuten: 1 = keine Abtötung, 9 = totale Abtötung, während die dazwischenliegenden Ziffern eine entsprechende Wirkung in linearer Abhängigkeit bedeuten. Die Tabelle zeigt die Wirkung bei einer Aufwandmenge von 4 kg Wirkstoff pro Hektar bei Nachauflaufbehandlung. Die Auswertung wurde 14 Tage nach der Applikation vorgenommen.

Auch bei Vorauflaufbehandlung zeigt die erfindungsgemäss hergestellte Verbindung eine sehr gute herbizide Wirkung.
Die Verbindung der Formel I kann auch als Pflanzenwachstumsregulator verwendet werden.
Das nachfolgende Beispiel dient zur Erläuterung der Herstellung der Verbindung der Formel I, soll die Erfindung jedoch in keiner Weise einschränken.
Beispiel:
6 -Dimethylamino- 1,3 -diphenyl-5-methyl-hexahydro -s-triazin-2,4-dion
86 g (1 Mol)N,N,N'-Trimethylformamidin in 200 ml Petrol äther werden in einem gegen Luftfeuchtigkeit geschutzten Gefäss auf ca. 0" gekühlt und unter Rühren mit der Lösung von 238 g (2 Mol) Phenylisocyanat in 800 ml Äther versetzt, wobei die Temperatur bei Oo gehalten wird. Das gegen Feuchtigkeitszutritt geschützte Gefäss wird ca. 3 Tage bei Raumtemperatur aufbewahrt. Das kristalline Rohprodukt wird abfiltriert, mit Äther gewaschen und aus Essigester umkristallisiert.
Man erhält farblose Kristalle vom Smp. 1750 Analyse für C18H20N402, Molgewicht: 324,37
