Abstract

Electrostatic copying is effected by placing a print-off sheet against a transfer sheet having a backing layer and a transferable coating on one surface, delimiting background image parts on this surface by a partial transfer of the transferable coating whereby difference in electrical conductivity are produced on the surface between the image and background parts, thereafter sepg. the transfer sheet from the print-off sheet and using one of the sheets as a master for a dielectric recording element by the application of an electric field which produces a charge pattern in accordance with the differences in electrical conductivity brought about by the contact sheet and developing the charge pattern so produced on the recording element with a developer sensitive to this pattern. Specif. the electrical conductivity of the image parts is greater than that of the background parts.
