The present invention relates to a double winder for the continuous reception of wires or cables, the coils of which with parallel axes and rotating in the opposite direction are placed one next to the other.
Double winders of known type make it possible, when a reel is full, to direct the wire or the cable onto a neighboring empty reel. The thread is attached to this spool and cut in the portion between the empty spool and the full spool. By driving the empty spool, the process continues. The full spool can be stopped, replaced with an empty spool, then operations can be resumed in reverse order. Thus, the manufacturing process does not need to be interrupted when changing the spool, which is an advantage. Indeed, stops are detrimental, for example in insulation installations, where plastic is extruded around a wire or a cable.
There are different types of these double continuous winders. One of the most common types is shown in fig. I of the accompanying drawing, where the two coils are placed next to each other with parallel axes. When, for example, the reel B is full, the trancanage roller moves from position (2) to position (3). Then the wire or cable (1) is hooked in one way or another to the spool A, and cut between the spool A and the spool B. You can stop the spool B while the wire is winding. on spool A and replace spool B with an empty spool. The next reel change operation will take place in reverse, from A to B.
When the spool is full, we often want to check the thread. To measure its electrical qualities, it is necessary to access both ends. In ordinary double winders, one end. The front end of the wire has often disappeared under the turns of the spool, which makes control impossible. Checking multiconductor telephone cables not only requires that the end be accessible, but that a certain length is available to strip the cable, separate the various conductors and arrange them in a suitable manner for checking them. To do this, cable manufacturers want a length of 20 to 50 cm.
For this purpose, the double winder according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a device rotating with the spool, comprising a nozzle which deflects the wire or cable on the rim of the spool, guides which hold a portion wire or cable on the rim and a part that pushes the next portion of the wire or cable back onto the spool barrel.
Two embodiments of the winder object of the invention will be described, by way of example, with reference to the appended drawing, in which:
Fig. 2 is a partial schematic view of the parts of the winder which are located in the vicinity of point 6 of FIG. 1.
Figs. 3, 4 and 5 represent these parts seen from above, in the different operating phases.
Fig. 6 is a perspective view of a second embodiment.
When the thread guide in position (3) in fig. 1 brings the thread to the vicinity of point (6), the thread must be gripped by a rotating device with the coil A. This is the spout (9) which, in the position of fig. 3, protrudes from the cheek (8) of the spool (20) and can thus hook the thread between point (6) and point (7) of fig. 1. As the spool rotates, the next part of the wire is applied to the rim of the part (16), is contained between the plates (12) and (15) of fig. 4. then pushed back towards the inside of the reel by the inclined plane (13). Before arriving at point (7) in fig. 1, the spout (9) must close and cut the wire at (19) according to fig. 5. The tabs (10) hold the end. Thus, the wire can be wound around the spool. The distance of the line between its cutting point (19) and point (17) will be accessible even when the spool is full (fig. 5).
The parts (9) and (10), the axis of rotation of the spout (11), the plates (12) and (15). the inclined plane (13) are fixed on a disc (18) which remains on the machine. The closing or opening movement of the spout (9) is provided by any mechanical, electrical or pneumatic means. not shown in the figures. This movement can be controlled automatically.
When moving the full spool away from the machine. it is necessary to release the end of the wire from the cleats (10) and thus the desired free end is obtained.
Another embodiment is shown in FIG. 6, which shows in perspective the empty take-up reel (21) on which the wire (22) will be fixed. A finger (23) deflects the wire (22) enough so that the nose (24) in the next turn catches the wire (22) and deposits it on the rim (25) of the spool or on a neighboring part of the rim. The inclined plane (26) will push back the wire (22) between the cheeks at point (27). A clamp (28) will secure the wire (22) when it is cut by a device not shown located between the full spool and the empty spool. The end of the wire will thus be accessible between the point (27) and the clamp (28).
