EMI1.1

Liquid azo dye preparation
The purpose of the invention are concentrated, stable, liquid preparations which contain 5 to 30 OIo of dye (1), 5 to 30 O / o, preferably 10-20 / o of an amine, e.g. B. contain diethanolamine and 40 to 90/0 water.
EMI1.1
In this formula, Me denotes a metal atom and the rings A and / or B can be further substituted.
The dyes of the formula (I) are mainly in the form of their alkali metal salts or their ammonium salts, but preferably as the sodium salt.
The metal atom preferably stands for a copper atom, but it can also stand for a nickel atom.
The dyes of the formula (I) can be prepared by mixing 1 mole of a tetrazotized 4,4'-diamino-3,3'-dimethoxy- or 3,3'-dihydroxydiphenyl with 1 mole of 2-hydroxynaphthalene-6,8-disulfonic acid and coupling 1 mole of 2-hydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid and treating the obtained azo dye with a metal donor.
The coupling can be carried out by methods known per se, e.g. B. in an aqueous alkaline medium, at temperatures from 0 to 20 "C and optionally in the presence of a buffer.
The metallization can also be carried out according to methods known per se, z..B. in an aqueous acidic or alkaline medium and, for example, at elevated temperature, e.g. B. at cooking temperature.
The aromatic rings A and / or B can be further substituted by halogen, such as chlorine, bromine or fluorine, or by alkyl or alkoxy radicals, for example by low molecular weight alkyl or alkoxy radicals containing, for. B. 1 to 3 carbon atoms. However, these rings are advantageously unsubstituted.
It is advantageous to metallize with a copper- or nickel-releasing agent, for example with copper sulfate, chloride or acetate.
The preparations of the above dyes are suitable for dyeing paper or for dyeing or printing cellulose fibers such as cotton, linen, hemp, etc. by the usual methods, eg. B. according to French patent specification 1 551 512.
They are particularly suitable for the production of pulp-dyed, sized or unsized paper.
These preparations are also excellently suited for the production of dye baths, padding liquors or printing pastes.
The preparations can contain other auxiliaries, e.g. B. dye auxiliaries such as pH-stabilizing auxiliaries or dispersants contain.
The preparations can be produced by mixing and optionally briefly heating the constituents. They can be used as true solutions or as a dispersion, optionally after dilution with water, for dyeing paper.
The preparations have the advantage of being easier to use. The annoying dusting when weighing dye powder is eliminated.
The preparations can be stored for several months at room temperature. They are not sensitive to frost and insensitive to fungal attack.
With preparations according to the invention of the dyes of the formula (I), genuine, level, reddish-tinged blue dyeings with good fastness properties are obtained on the substrates mentioned. B. good light fastness and good wet fastness properties. From French patent 1 016 771 the dye is of the formula

or its sodium salts are known for dyeing regenerated cellulose. The dye of formula (a) is recommended commercially for dyeing paper.
In addition, the preparations of the dyestuffs of the formula (I) are more suitable for shading white papers and are less sensitive to sizing than the dyestuff of the formula (a) and, moreover, when paper is dyed with the dyestuffs of the formula (I) there is no risk of mottling , while the dye of formula (a) mottles on paper. Whitening is mainly described by Berthold Cornely in Das Färben von Papier, page 185.
In the following example, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
example
28 parts of a salt-containing dye powder with a content of 90% of pure dye (b) are dissolved in 73 parts of water and 14 parts of diethanolamine. This liquid dye preparation shows very good storage stability.
The preparation of the dye of the formula
EMI2.2
takes place according to the following procedure 1. Tetrazotization
97.6 parts of 4,4-diamino-3,3'-dimethoxy-1,1'-diphenyl are introduced into 800 parts of 20 water. 276 parts of 300 / above hydrochloric acid are then added and the mixture is stirred to form a homogeneous suspension. The mixture is then cooled to 2-3 "by adding 350 parts of ice. A solution consisting of 58.4 parts of sodium nitrite dissolved in 300 parts of water is then allowed to flow in over the course of 30 minutes the temperature is kept between 23 and 5. The mixture is stirred for 3 hours at this temperature, then the excess sodium nitrite is destroyed with sulfamic acid 2.
coupling
126 parts of 2-hydroxynaphthalene-6,8-disulfonic acid are introduced into 500 parts of water and then dissolved by adding 66.5 parts of the above sodium hydroxide solution. After 220 parts of soda have been introduced, the mixture is cooled to 3-5 "and the tetrazotized 4,4-diamino-3,3'-dimethoxy-1,1'-diphenyl is then poured in in a thin stream. The mixture is stirred well for 90 minutes then adds 135 parts of 2-hydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid dissolved in 900 parts of water.
When the reaction has ended, 240 parts of crystallized copper sulfate and 364 parts of 250 / above ammonia are added and the mixture is stirred at 90-95 for 15-20 hours. The metallized dye is precipitated by adding sodium chloride and isolated by filtration. After drying, 440 parts of the dye of the formula (b) Instructions for dyeing paper are obtained
100 parts of chemically bleached sulficellulose are ground in a hollander in the presence of water.
3 parts of the aforementioned preparation are added to this mass. After 15 minutes, the glue is applied and then it is fixed.
The paper produced in this way has a reddish blue shade of medium intensity. The dyeing has good fastness properties, such as fastness to alcohol; it is particularly very wet-resistant. The wastewater is colorless. The dyeings are light and wetfast. You have z. B. good fastness to water, washing and perspiration. The dyes migrate well and are cookable and resistant to high temperatures.
