Transport facility
Swiss patent No. 443390 relates to an endless continuous transport complex for travelers comprising several series of vehicles called to move on a closed circuit and driven on this circuit by a worm system alternating with towing cables arranged throughout along the circuit and which are also intended to ensure the accelerations and decelerations of the vehicles in the sections of the circuit adjacent to the embarkation docks, respectively the disembarkation of passengers.
In this complex, all the vehicles are permanently kinematically attached to their drive system. It follows that all the vehicles are simultaneously moving on the circuit even if only one of them is in fact occupied.
It will be understood that such a complex is only profitable if it is ensured that it can permanently transport a sufficiently high number of travelers. Indeed, the fact that all its vehicles are set in motion when only a few of them are occupied does not only result in unnecessary energy consumption but also in premature wear of the entire complex and therefore in increased mechanical maintenance expenses.
The object of the invention is precisely to remedy, at least partially, the aforementioned drawbacks by an installation which can adapt at will to fluctuations in traffic.
The present invention relates to a transport installation between at least two zones distant from each other, comprising a track forming a loop and having a first section of circulation connecting the first to the second of said zones, a second circulation strand connecting the second to the first of these zones, at least a first storage strand connecting the inlet end of the first circulation strand to the outlet end of the second circulation strand and at least a second strand of storage unit connecting the inlet end of this second section of circulation to the outlet end of the first section of circulation, and comprising vehicles kinematically independent of each other, provided with running gears to engage with the track bearing and means to coach these vehicles along this loop.
This installation is characterized by the fact that it comprises two counters placed at the respective ends of each of said storage strands to count the vehicles at the entrance, respectively at the exit of each storage strand.
two totalizers associated with the two counters of the first and respectively second storage strands, realizing at each instant the difference in the results received, - two commissioning devices placed respectively at the outlets of the first and second storage strands, to pass the units successively for transporting these storage strands to the respective circulation strands, - first and second control devices associated respectively with instruction display members and connected to the totalizers of the first, respectively second storage strands, on the one hand, and the devices for commissioning the second respectively first storage strands, on the other hand, these control devices being arranged so as to actuate the devices for commissioning the second, respectively first storage strands,
as long as the respective results of the totalizers of the first and second storage strands are lower than the setpoints displayed respectively to the first and second control devices.
The single figure of the appended drawing represents, by way of example and very schematically, an embodiment of the object of the present invention.
The installation shown comprises a runway forming a closed circuit having two rectilinear strands 11 and 12., respectively bringing together an embarkation zone A and a disembarkation zone A1, an embarkation zone B and a disembarkation zone B1, two other strands s1 and s2 connecting said rectilinear strands 11 and 12.
On this circuit, vehicles indicated by the reference V, for those called to circulate momentarily on strands S1 and lì of the circuit, and by the reference W, for those momentarily moving on strands S2 and 12, are likely to move.
As described, these vehicles are kinematically independent of each other: for this purpose they can be equipped with their own drive motors, preferably with electric motors generally assisted by each other from a common distribution network or even using electric accumulators with which each vehicle is fitted.
These vehicles can also be driven by driving wheels arranged along the circuit and engaging with a determined part of each vehicle as it passes through the wheels: the vehicles would thus be driven in successive jolts.
It is of course also possible to have such wheels throughout the circuit at a distance sufficiently close to each other for the vehicles to be driven continuously.
In the embodiment shown, the drive of vehicles v and w is achieved by making use of linear motors whose armatures are formed by a part of each vehicle and whose stators are arranged along the strands li, S2, 12 and S1.
These stators will be dimensioned and arranged on each strand so that the vehicles can be accelerated, maintained at a constant speed whatever the profile of the corresponding strand and braked regularly, in particular when they approach one of the landing zones At or B1.
On the strands S1 and S, the supply of the stators of the corresponding linear motors can take place in a pulsed manner, for a period of time sufficient to allow the advance of a vehicle by an amount corresponding to its own length for each energy impulse received. This supply can also be continuous for a sufficient period of time to bring each vehicle entering the strand S1 and Ss into contact with the last vehicle waiting on this strand.
The strands Si and S3 of the circuit of the installation shown are in fact intended for the temporary storage of unused vehicles. As a variant, these strands could of course be replaced by real storage areas comprising several secondary paths on which the vehicles could be stored, these paths being able to be connected to the end A1 of the strand li and to the end B1 of the strand 12 with a view to their loading by vehicles having finished their run on the strands 1, and 12, respectively at the end B of the strand 12 and at the end A of the strand 11 to carry out the debitage of the vehicles stored on the strands 11 and 12 as and when they leave.
Indeed, the installation described is fully automated, each vehicle located in boarding areas A or B starting automatically as soon as it is occupied by a passenger and also stopping automatically at the level of disembarkation areas A1 or B1.
Each vehicle storage area S1 or S2 has a capacity corresponding at least to the total number of vehicles of the installation minus a number nl, for zone SB, and n2, for zone Sî than the other storage zone must always contain as long as the total number of unused vehicles is greater than or equal to n1 + n2.
The installation shown has for this purpose two counting devices Cia and C2a, respectively Cjb and Cib 'arranged at the input and at the output of the strand S1, respectively at the input and at the output of the strand S2 and intended for counting. vehicles entering the corresponding strand, for devices Cia and Cib, and counting vehicles leaving this strand, for devices q and Cib. The result recorded by each device Cia and C2a, respectively Clb and C2b, is communicated to a totalizer TA,
respectively TB, realizing at each instant the difference between the two results received, which therefore corresponds to a permanent detection of the number of vehicles stored on the strand S1, respectively 52.
Each totalizer TA, or TB, communicates its information to a device EA or E3 emitting a signal when the given result is less than a set value displayed in PA, respectively in PB, and corresponding to the number nl, respectively n2, of vehicles that 'it is desired to have at least on the strand S1, respectively S2, when the total number of stationary vehicles is at least equal to zero + n2.
The signal emitted under these conditions by the device E "respectively EB, is directed to a member KB, respectively KA, controlling the departure of empty vehicles stored on the strand S2 in the direction of the strand S1, respectively stored on the strand Sj in the direction of the strand S2, as long as the indication provided by the totalizer
TA to the EA device,
respectively by the totalizer T3 to the device E3, is less than the value nl displayed in PA, respectively the value n2 displayed in P, the vehicles being however sent from a storage strand to the second strand only if the first contains more of vehicles than provided for in the instruction displayed in the corresponding PA OR Pu '> 3 device.
To this end, each control unit KA and K3 is subjected to the action of a blocking device RA, respectively R3, connected to the totalizer TA, respectively T3, and which can be programmed so as to put the unit out of service.
KA or K3 corresponding as long as the number of vehicles stored on the corresponding strand S1 or S2, a number calculated by the totalizer, is not greater than nr, for the first strand, and n2 for the second strand.
Thanks to this additional servo-control, it is thus ensured to always have a minimum number of vehicles in each storage area, provided of course that there are unused vehicles available.
Programming of PAF RA devices; R; '> 3, RB can of course be different for each storage area S1 or S2 and be adapted to the size of this area, to hourly fluctuations in traffic, to variations in its intensity in one direction or the other.
In particular, if during a certain period the traffic mainly takes place from A to Al in the drawing, it will be advisable to display PA, RA and '> 3, R3 so that n1))) n2, or even nl = Ntot and n2 = 0. In this way, no vehicle will stop on the storage strand S2 and will pass directly over strand 13 to join strand S1.
In such an eventuality, it will however be advisable to provide on the boarding zone B a control means allowing a possible user to be able to stop in passing a vehicle heading towards the storage zone S1.
Of course, it is also possible to ensure that n2))) nl, or even n2, Ntot and n1 = 0, if the transport of passengers must temporarily take place on strand 13.
By way of example, such an installation could include a total number of vehicles such that N = 50, the vehicles a stored on strands St and S2 having to be at least n1 = 10 on the first and at least n3 = 6 on the second as soon as the set of unused vehicles is at least equal to 16.
If, in the latter event, n1 was momentarily equal to 1 1 and n3 equal to 5, a vehicle stored on strand S1 will be sent in the direction of strand S2.
On the other hand, if the number of stationary vehicles becomes equal to 15, that the number n1 = 9 and n2 = 5, no vehicle will be able to pass from one strand St or SO to the other as long as the number of vehicles stored does not exceed not 10 for the first or 6 for the second.
