Method of manufacturing the upper of a shoe and device for its implementation
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing the upper of a shoe, in which the parts constituting the upper are cut out and joined by gluing, superimposing them in a practically flat state.
In a method commonly used to make the upper of a shoe, the liner, which can be fabric or leather, is attached to the outer material of the shoe using an adhesive coating or using a fabric covered with a coating which can be softened by heating, the liner being applied with a hot iron to said outer material, such application constituting the first operation. The end of the shoe, that is to say the protective cap for the toes, is then glued in a second operation. The upper edge of the upper is finally fixed by a binding fabric or the external material is turned over on the upper edge and said binding edge or the turned up edge is then covered with a piece of material either by stitching or by adhesive. , to all; this constitutes the third operation.
The object of the present invention is to reduce the number of operations and to make the manufacture of shoes more expeditious. Furthermore, its aim is to eliminate the need to call upon tradesmen, to reduce the working time and the machine park necessary for the assembly of the upper. Even with some experience, there is still some scrap due to human failure. By eliminating the human experience to assemble the upper, the scrap parts that are normally manufactured are eliminated and control is made easier. The main advantage obtained by the implementation of the process according to the invention consists in an appreciable reduction in the manufacturing price, the working time, the space and the fleet of machines and provides an improved final product.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that said parts to be joined together are coated with a heat-activatable adhesive, they are placed in the order provided on a support plate, and they are joined simultaneously by applying pressure and by activating the setting of the adhesive using a high frequency field.
The device for implementing this method is characterized by a support plate, pressing means and means for creating a high frequency field.
The pressing means are preferably constituted by a pressing plate having on its working face a coating of elastic material, such as for example rubber.
The appended drawing illustrates, by way of example, an implementation of the method which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a schematic perspective view of the parts of a flat press between which the parts of the upper to be assembled have been indicated.
Fig. 2 is a view of the external face of the assembly after having linked it.
Fig. 3 is a view of the internal face of the assembly.
For the implementation of the method illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 3, a flat lower plate 10 and a flat upper plate 11 carrying on its lower face a rubber coating 12 are used. The plates 10 and 11 form electrodes of a high frequency circuit. The lower plate 10 has a certain number of studs 13 retained in the housings and normally pushed upwards by springs, these studs being capable of sinking into their housings under the effect of pressure in order to be level with the whole to assemble. The studs 13 are, in terms of their number and their arrangement, placed so as to prevent any movement of the parts of the assembly which must be retained and so that they do not move inadvertently.
For this, all the parts of the assembly have holes 14 arranged so that the parts in question can be fixed on the studs 13 so that the latter retain them on the lower plate 10.
The edge 15 of the outer material 16 is folded back (Fig. 3) and said outer material 16 is then disposed on the lower plate 10 with its outer face 16a facing downwards, a hard end 17 and two separate reinforcing halves 18 and 19 are placed on the outer material 16, each of these parts being retained by one or two studs and a suitable adhesive being disposed on one or both cover faces. The liner 20, after having been coated with adhesive, is then placed on the assembly so as to cover it.
The upper plate 11 is finally pushed down on the parts of the assembly and a pressure is applied, for example a pressure of about 5.6 kg / cm2. The assembly is then subjected to the effect of a high frequency field, the power and time being adapted to the materials used and the parts of the assembly then being assembled to each other by activating the setting of the adhesive. , so that the faces which rest against each other and which are coated with adhesive are forced to stick together.
The adhesive is plasticized polyvinyl acetate, whether or not containing additional modifiers.
Other adhesives based on acrylic esters, with or without additional retifying resins, such as the condensation products of melamine formaldehyde, polyurethanes, with or without retifying additives, plastics, such as polyvinylidene chloride, or elastomers, such as polychloroprene, may be used.
The outer material can be made of other substances, such as nylon or leather.
