Process for dyeing or printing hydrophobic textile fiber materials with sulfonic acid group-free azo dyes
The present invention relates to a dyeing or printing process for hydrophobic textile fiber materials using azo dyes of the formula which are free of acid groups
EMI1.1
in which R is an aromatic-carbocyclic or aromatic-heterocyclic radical which may have other substituents with the exception of sulfonic acid groups, NH-acyl is an acylamino group,
R1 is an unsubstituted or substituted aryl group and R2 and R3 are identical or different radicals and are hydrogen or the -alkylene-X group, where X is hydrogen, -CN, -OH or the -OCOR4, -OCOOR4, -COOR4, -OR4 groups or represents an unsubstituted or substituted aryl group, and R4 represents an optionally substituted alkyl group and -alkylene- represents a straight-chain or branched alkylene group having 1-5 C atoms.
As acylamino groups are in particular formylamino, alkylcarbonylamino, arylcarbonylamino, alkoxycarbenylamino, alkylsulfonylamino, arylsulfonyiamino and, where appropriate, substituted.
Urea groups present, it being possible for the alkyl and aryl radicals to have further substituents. Preferred alkyl and alkoxy radicals are those with 1-4 carbon atoms, preferred aryl groups are optionally substituted phenyl groups.
The alkylene radicals have 1-5 carbon atoms, and the alkylene radical can be straight-chain or branched.
Preferred radicals R4 are alkyl groups with 1-4 carbon atoms, preferred aryl groups X are phenyl groups which may have substituents, for example alkyl groups with 1-4 carbon atoms, halogen, alkoxy groups with 1-4 carbon atoms or acylamino groups.
Preferred aryl groups R1 are phenyl groups which may have substituents such as alkyl groups
1-4 carbon atoms, halogen, in particular chlorine and bromine, alkoxy groups with 1-4 carbon atoms, acylamino groups and CF: s groups, acylamino groups being those defined above. Suitable radicals R1 are, for example, phenyl, methylphenyl, ethylphenyl, methoxyphenyl, ethoxyphenyl and chlorophenyl radicals and acetylaminophenyl radicals.
The dyes used according to the invention are not soluble in water because of the absence of sulfonic acid groups. Azo dyes and their use for dyeing certain textile fibers are already known from French Patent Nos. 898 812 and 1 079 814. However, the dyes are water-soluble dyes containing sulfonic acid groups; Insofar as water-insoluble dyes are mentioned in general in the first French patent specification - no examples are given - they should only be considered as pigments for non-textile materials.
U.S. Patent No. 2,213,731 also relates to water-soluble azo dyes which are further characterized by a phosphoric acid residue.
Finally, US Pat. No. 2,204,607 describes acylamino-free azo dyes of the formula
EMI1.2
and their use for coloring cellulose; acetate fibers by the dispersion method. In the formula, R is an aryl radical from the benzene series, A is an optionally substituted benzene ring, but free from sulfonic acid groups, R1 and R are hydrogen, alkyl, allyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or a heterocyclic system and Rg is an optionally substituted benzene ring. Compared to these dyes, the dyes used according to the invention are distinguished by far better fastness to sublimation (210 C, DIN 54 060, polyester fabric).
The dyes mentioned in the other publications listed above are less suitable because of their water solubility for dyeing hydrophobic textile materials; the advantages of using water-insoluble dyes when dyeing or printing such textile fibers are known to those skilled in the art.
The new azo dyes used in accordance with the invention are obtained, for example, by mixing a corresponding aromatic-carbocyolic or aromatic-heterocyclic diazo component with an amine of the general formula
EMI2.1
in which NH-acyl, R1, R2 and R2 have the meaning given above, in p-position to the group
EMI2.2
couples and thereby chooses the starting components free of sulfonic acid groups.
The coupling of the starting components can be carried out in the customary manner, preferably in an acidic solution or suspension.
Diazo components suitable for the preparation and the azo dyes used according to the invention are, for example: 4-cyananiline, 4-nitroaniline,
4-nitro-2-chloroaniline, 4-nitro-2-cyananitine,
2,4-dicyananiline, 2,4-dinitraniline, 3-chloro-4-cyananiline, 2-cyano-5-chloraniiine,
3,4-dicyananiline, 2,5 -dicyananiline, 2,6-dichloro-4-nitroaniline, 2rchloro-4-cyananiline,
4-amino-acetophenone, 2-amino-5-nitrotoluene, 2-amino-5-nitro-anisole, 3-nitro-4-aminotoluene,
2,4-dichloroaniline, 2,
5-dichloro-4-nitroaniline,
2-trifluoromethyl-4-chloroaniline,
3-chloro-4-amino-1-trifluoromethylbenzene, 2-cyano-4,5,6-trichloroaniline,
2,4-dinitro-6-bromaniline, 2-cyano-4 6-dinitraniline, 2-cyano-6-bromo- or -6-chloro-4-nitroaniline, 2,4-dicyano-6-chloroaniline,
2-methoxy-4-nitroaniline,
2-Amino-5-nitro-benzoic acid methyl ester, 4-aminobenzoes änrealkyjamide, such as -methyl- or dimethylamide,
4-aminobenzoic acid methyl ester,
3-Nitro-4-aminobenzoic acid butyl ester, l-aminobenzene-3- or -4-methylsulphone or ethylsulphone.
Coupling components suitable for the preparation of the azo dyes used according to the invention are, for example, the following:
EMI2.3
EMI3.1
From the group of azo dyes used according to the process are those of the general formula:
EMI3.2
particularly preferred; Here NH-acyl, R1, R and R3 have the meaning given above, R5 stands for Cl, Br or CN, R6 and R7 are identical or different and stand for hydrogen, NO2, Cl, Br, CN, CH3 or OCH3.
These dyes are obtained e.g. B. by coupling diazo components of the general formula:
EMI3.3
with coupling components of the general formula:
EMI3.4
in which R1 to R7 and NH-acyl have the meaning given above.
Coupling components of the general formula
EMI3.5
wherein R1, R2, R2 and NH-acyl have the meaning given above, can be prepared, for example, by the following process: 2, SDinitrochlorobenzene is reacted in an aqueous alkaline medium at temperatures of about 1000 C with phenates to form 2,4-dinitrodiphenyl ethers, then reduced with tin (II) chloride to 2-amino-4-nitro-diphenyl ethers,
mono- or dialkylated with alkylating agents such as toluenesulfonic acid esters or alkyl halides and, after catalytic reduction of the nitro group with Raney nickel, acylated in the usual way with acid anhydrides.
Coupling components of the formula:
EMI3.6
wherein acyl is as defined above and R 'is a group
EMI3.7
where R1 'and R2' represent the same or different radicals and represent hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, acylamino or trifluoromethyl groups, are conveniently obtained by reacting 2,4-diaminophenol ethers of the formula:
EMI3.8
or their salts, in which R 'has the abovementioned meaning, with acylating agents such as carboxylic acid anhydrides or carboxylic acid halides in an aqueous, organic-aqueous or organic medium, preferably at temperatures of 0-40 ° C.
The acylation is generally carried out so that 1 mol of a 2,4-diaminophenol ether of the formula (VI) or its salt in an aqueous, organic or aqueous-organic medium, if appropriate in the presence of alkali, preferably at temperatures of 0900.degree , is reacted with 1 mole of acylating agent.
When the amine salts are used, at least equivalent amounts of alkali are generally used, so that the free amines are present which can be acylated both in the presence of alkali and in the absence of alkali. In the latter case, an equivalent amount of acid is set free.
The salts of organic or inorganic acids come into consideration as salts, preferably those of acetic acid, sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid.
Suitable acylating agents are, in particular, aliphatic carboxylic acid anhydrides and carboxylic acid halides. The following may be mentioned by way of example: acetyl chloride, chloroacetyl chloride, ethoxyacetyl chloride, methoxyacetyl chloride, propionyl chloride, butyryl chloride, and acetic anhydride and propionic anhydride.
Suitable organic solvents are in particular lower alcohols such as methanol or ethanol and inert solvents such as esters, ketones, etc.
The production process mentioned for the new azo dyes can also be varied in such a way that the groups alkylene-OCOR4, -alkylene-OCOOR4 and alkylene-COOR4 only in the final stage of the process, i.e. H. after coupling the diazo component with the coupling component, are introduced, for example by acylation of azo dyes with -alkylene-OH group or esterification of azo dyes with -alkylene-COOH group.
The present new dyes are suitable according to the invention for dyeing and printing hydrophobic textile materials, in particular textiles or fibers made from aromatic polyesters, e.g. B. of poly ethylene terephthalates. Dyes and prints with very good fastness properties are obtained on these materials.
The dyes are also suitable for dyeing and printing textile materials made from cellulose esters, e.g. B. cellulose triacetate, and of synthetic polyamide fiber material.
The parts given in the examples relate to parts by weight.
