Hobbing machine
The present invention relates to a hobbing machine with a chuck rotatable by a drive for a rod-shaped workpiece, a device for continuously advancing this workpiece and a milling cutter arranged transversely thereto.
Such machines, known per se, are used, for example, to provide long rods with teeth extending in the longitudinal direction of the rod. Rods processed in this way can then be used as starting material for the production of pinions and drives, which can be made by cutting off and turning bearing journals. With the machines currently available, machining accuracies of up to 5 / tot mm can be achieved, but this is not always sufficient.
In particular, the teeth are often not sufficiently axially parallel, but rather slightly helical, which is inadmissible for various purposes.
These disadvantages can now be avoided according to the invention in that the machine of the aforementioned type is provided with a guide which is connected to the chuck and rotates the machined part of the workpiece. It is advisable to use a guide plate with an opening adapted to the profile of the machined workpiece as a guide for the machined part, and to provide means to adjust the angular position of the guide plate relative to the chuck.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is described below with reference to the accompanying drawing. In the drawing: FIG. 1 shows an elevation with the transmission element for driving the workpiece guide, FIG. 2 shows a section along the line II-II in FIG. 1 with the transmission elements for driving the gear ring in the chuck, FIG. 3 shows a side view of the gearwheels in the direction of arrow III in FIG. 1, FIG. 4 shows a section through the chuck along line IV-IV in FIG. 1 on a larger scale, FIG. 5 shows a section along line VV in FIG FIG. 4 and FIG. 6 show a section along the line VI-VI in FIG. 4.
In the apparatus chassis 1, the hollow main spindle 2 is freely rotatable. A gear wheel 3, which meshes with a drive pinion (not shown) or a drive worm which is in turn connected directly or indirectly to a drive motor, is seated in a rotationally fixed manner. On the right end of the main spindle 2, the chuck designated as a whole with 4, which is designed as a feed head, is screwed. At the other end of the hollow main spindle 2 there are two gears 5 and 6. The guide tube 7 is supported in ball bearings 8 coaxially to this main spindle. On this sits the wheel 9, which is connected by clamping screws 10, only one of which is visible in the drawing, to a toothed ring 11, the toothing of which corresponds to the toothing of the gearwheel 5.
A shaft 12 arranged above the spindle 2 carries the same gears 13 at its ends, one of which meshes with the gear 5 and the other with the ring gear 11, whereby a non-rotatable connection with the chuck 4 and the guide tube 7 is ensured its end facing the chuck 4 carries a guide plate 43 which has an opening 43 a adapted to the profile of the workpiece being machined. When the screws 10 are loosened, the angular position between the guide plate 43 and the chuck can be changed as desired, it being sufficient if the machined workpiece has five teeth, for example, if the maximum adjustment angle is 720.
The gearwheel 6 meshes with an intermediate gearwheel 14 and this with the gearwheel 16 seated on a shaft 15, the gearwheel 6 being interchangeable if the speed ratio between the shaft 2 and the shaft 15 is to be changed. On the other end of the shaft 15 sits the second gear 16, which meshes with the intermediate gear 17, which in turn engages with the teeth 18a of the toothed ring 18, which is freely rotatably mounted on the central body 19 of the chuck 4 serving as feed head, there is secured by a retaining ring 20 and is also provided on the inside with a toothing 1 8b.
Two pinions 21 mesh with this internal toothing 18b, one of which is seated on the shaft 22 and the other on a shaft 23. The worm 24 sits on the end of the shaft 22 facing away from the pinion 21, the worm 25 on the end of the shaft 23 facing away from the pinion. The worm 24 meshes with the worm wheel 26, the worm 25 with the worm wheel 27.
The worm wheel 26 is non-rotatably connected via a shaft 28 to the gear 30, which meshes with the pinion 32a of the feed roller 32, which is held in the pivotable carrier 34, this carrier 34 in turn sitting loosely on the shaft 28. The other side of the clamping head 4 is constructed symmetrically: In the carrier 35 pivotably mounted on the shaft 29, the feed roller 33 is mounted, whose pinion 33 a meshes with the gear 31, which in turn sits on the shaft 29 and from the worm 25 over the worm wheel 27 seated on it is driven. The two feed rollers 32 and 33 each have an annular groove 32b or 33b, which are used to receive the workpiece.
By means of two support screws 36 and 37, the distance between the two feed rollers 32 and 33 can be adjusted so that the workpiece to be machined, which is usually a round rod, is held firmly and securely in the center and is advanced into the guide sleeve 38 which has a cutout 38a at the bottom into which the milling cutter 39 protrudes, the drive shaft of which is connected in a manner known per se to the hollow main spindle 2 in such a way that the helically arranged cutting teeth of the milling cutter 39 cut axially parallel grooves in the rotating workpiece; The main spindle has to turn 600 for the production of a six-toothed bar, for example, when the milling cutter turns once.
So that the milling cutter cannot produce any permanent twisting of the workpiece, which would result in a helical course of the teeth, the machined workpiece is guided by the guide plate 43 in such a way that it can move axially in this guide, but cannot rotate relative to it . The feed rate of the workpiece can be adjusted by a suitable choice of the gear wheels, in particular the gear wheel 6.
