Device for feeding flat objects to several packaging machines
The superordinate main patent relates to a device for feeding flat objects, in particular chocolate bars, which arrive on a transport line, in particular on a transport belt or on transport plates, to several packaging machines, each of which is assigned an associated feed conveyor belt, with between said transport line and a switch is provided for each feed conveyor belt, the position of which is controlled by scanning means, in particular a light barrier, by the condition prevailing on the associated feed conveyor belt in such a way that the arriving objects are automatically fed to the packaging machines according to their capacity and without being influenced by operating personnel.
One embodiment of this device is characterized in that the feed conveyor belts are arranged in a known manner at right angles to the conveyor system and at a higher level than it, and the conveyor system is interrupted by a switch before a feed conveyor belt branches off, which is controlled in this way by a first associated light barrier is that the switch guides the objects arriving on the transport line without touching each other - if the light barrier is not interrupted upwards to the feed conveyor belt that branches off at right angles and if the light barrier is interrupted to the continuation of the transport line, which is at a lower level than the feed conveyor belt.
With devices of this type, there is a certain disadvantage that, particularly in the case of packaging machines that work very quickly, a constant and sufficient supply by the feed conveyor belts is not always guaranteed. The present invention aims.
to avoid this disadvantage and to ensure that there is always a sufficient and continuous reserve of objects to be packaged before each packaging machine.
For this purpose, the device according to the invention is characterized in that an intermittently running intermediate conveyor belt is arranged between each body and each feed conveyor belt, the end of which is parallel to the beginning of the associated feed conveyor belt, that displacement means are provided to move a number of objects from the end of the intermediate conveyor belt to move transversely to the beginning of the feed conveyor belt, and that control means are also present which control the intermediate conveyor belt and the displacement means in such a way that the intermediate conveyor belt stands still when there is a row of objects at its end, and that the displacement means are actuated when the beginning of the feed conveyor belt is free and there are a number of objects at the end of the intermediate conveyor belt.
An embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to the single figure of the accompanying drawing.
Rows of chocolate bars are brought from the transport line 102 to the switch 106 which has been folded up and from there to an intermediate transport belt 130. At the end of the intermediate conveyor belt 130, the rows of chocolate bars are moved to the beginning of the feed conveyor belt 104 by means of displacement means, the type and control of which will be described below, from which they are fed to a packaging machine (not shown). The rows of chocolate bars are sequentially labeled 121, 120, 119 and 118, respectively. The switch 106 is controlled and operated as explained in more detail in the main patent.
At the end of the intermediate conveyor belt 130 there is a sensor 131 which responds to an incoming row of chocolate bars. In the case shown, it is the row 119 that causes the sensor 131 to respond. As soon as the sensor 131 has responded, it stops the intermediate conveyor belt 130. The beginning of the feed conveyor belt 104 is swept across at an angle by a light barrier 117 (or other appropriate scanning means) which determine whether there are objects on this beginning of the belt 104.
The sensor 131 and the light barrier 117 control the stamp 132 acting as a displacement means as follows: As soon as a row 119 of chocolate bars activates the sensor 131 (which could also be replaced by a light barrier, for example) and the belt 130 comes to a standstill, in principle the actuating means (not shown) for the punch 132 are brought into effect. However, this can only take place when there are no longer any objects in the area of the light barrier 117. In the present case, the row 118 is just about to leave the area of this light barrier 117, while the row 119 actuates the sensor 131. The punch 132 will therefore move the row 119 from the stationary belt 130 transversely to the beginning of the constantly running conveyor belt 104 in the next moment.
It is readily understandable that the sensor 131 and the light barrier 117 act on the stamp 132 via known means (not shown). When the latter has finished its shifting movement, it returns to its starting position on a path which lies outside the new row of chocolate bars arriving on the intermediate conveyor belt 130.
This return can be done by known means.
When the punch 132 has pushed the row 119 onto the beginning of the tape 104, the tape 130 is restarted by known means so that the row 120 is pushed into the region of the punch 132.
