Process for the production of new organic dyes The present invention relates to the production of new, valuable organic dyes which have the residue of a pyrimidine sulfonic acid which contains a halogen atom bonded to at least one carbon atom of the heterocyclic ring. This radical can contain an, in which one Z is a halogen atom, especially a chlorine atom, the other Z is the bond to the dye and n is an integer not exceeding 2.
Residues of the specified type can be attached to the dye molecule directly or via a bridge member, e.g. B. expediently be bound to a nitrogen atom. This nitrogen atom can be further substituted by an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic radical.
The dyes of the formula are therefore particularly valuable

wherein X is a methyl group or a hydrogen atom, one Z is a chlorine atom and the other Z is an F2 - NH- the dye molecule through the -SO2 grouping of the sulfonic acid group or through one of the carbon atoms of the heterocyclic ring.
The water-soluble dyes of this type, which make up the rest of the formula, are particularly valuable
EMI0001.0027
Mean remainder, where F_ # denotes the remainder of a vat dye or an acidic dye.
In addition to a Pyrimidineru.ppierung of the specified type, which is optionally bound via an SO2-NH group, via an alkylene radical, but preferably directly to an aromatic ring of the dye molecule, the dyes according to the invention can have at least one water-solubilizing group, e.g. B.
an optionally acylated sulfonic acid amide group, a methyl sulfone group, one or, with advantage, more than one ionized, strongly acidic, water-solubilizing group, such as an H03S-O group, a carboxyl or a sulfonic acid group.
They can also have further substituents, in particular those which do not make them water-soluble, such as halogen atoms, nitro, acylamino, alkyl or alkoxy groups.
The dyes according to the invention are obtained when organic dyes containing acylatable amino groups are condensed with a pyrimidinesulfonic acid which contains a halogen atom bonded to at least one carbon atom of the heterocyclic ring.
The pyrimidine sulfonic acids are 2,6-dibromo- or 2,6-dichloropyrimidine-5-sulfonic acid. As examples of dyes containing acylatable amino groups which can be condensed according to the present process, the following may be mentioned:
Aminoazo dyes obtained by saponification of azo dyes containing acylamino groups, by reducing the nitro group of azo dyes containing nitro groups or by coupling azotized aromatic amines with acylatable amino group-containing coupling components, such as.
B. 1-Amino-3-alkyl or acylaminobenzenes, ss-ketocarboxylic acid arylides, m- or p-aminophenyl-5-pyrazolones, aminonaphtholsulfonic acids and the like are obtained;
Amino dyes of the anthraquinone series, such as 1-amino-4- (3'- or -4'-aminophenylamino) -anthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid, 1-amino-4- (4'-aminophenylamino) -anthraquinone-2'- or -3'-sulfonic acid, 1-amino-4- (4'-aminophenylamino) -anthraquinone- 2,2'- or -2,3'-disulfonic acid, 1-amino-4- (3'-aminophenylamino) -anthra- quinone-2,4'-disulfonic acid, 1-amino-4- (4'-aminophenylamino)

5- or 8-position have a nitro group, obtained by means of sulfa- or disulfobenzoic acid halides and subsequent reduction of the nitro group into an amino group), Ämin:
o-dibenz-anthronesulfonic acids and amino-isodibenzanthrone-sulfonic acids (which can be obtained by introducing two sulfonic acid groups in aminodibenzanthrone or in amino-isodibenzanthrone); furthermore one obtains z.
B. from one mole of a di-, tri- or tetrasulfonic acid chloride of a colored anthraquinone derivative or from: one mole of a phthalocyanine tri- or tetrasulfonic acid chloride by partial amidation with one mole of a diamine, eg.
B. with one mole of a diaminobenzenesulfonic acid or its monoacyl derivatives very valuable dyes which can be used as starting materials in the present process and which, after hydrolysis of the unreacted sulfonic acid chloride groups and the optionally present acylamino group, contain an acylatable amino group which, according to the invention, for .
B. can be condensed with the 2,6-dichloro-pyrimidine-5-sulfonic acid chloride or with the 2,6-dichloro-pyrimidine-5-sulfonic acid. The condensation of the dyes containing an acylatable amino group is expediently carried out in the presence of acid-binding agents such as sodium acetate, sodium hydroxide or carbonate and under relatively mild conditions, eg. B. in organic solvents or at relatively low temperatures in wäs serigem means. The dyes according to the invention are new.
They are suitable for dyeing and printing the most diverse materials, especially polyhydroxylated materials of a fibrous structure, such as cellulosic substances, both synthetic fibers, such. B. from regenerated cellulose as well as natural Ma materials, z. B. linen or especially cotton.
If they are water-soluble, they are suitable for dyeing according to the so-called direct dyeing method and, above all, according to the printing or padding dyeing process. The dyes can be applied to the goods to be dyed by alkali and heat treatment, e.g. B. fen by damping, are chemically fixed.
In order to improve the wet fastness properties, it is advisable to subject the dyeings and prints obtained in this way to thorough rinsing with cold and hot water, optionally with the addition of an agent which disperses or promotes the diffusion of unfixed dye components.
The dyeings obtainable on cellulose-containing fibers with the dyes according to the invention are generally distinguished by the purity of their hues, by good lightfastness and, above all, by excellent wet fastness properties.
The water-soluble dyes according to the invention are also suitable for dyeing and printing nitrogen-containing textile materials, such as leather, silk, and especially wool, as well as superpolyamide or superpolyurethane fibers from weakly alkaline, neutral or acidic baths, e.g. B. from acetic acid bath.

are neutralized in 300 parts of water with sodium carbonate and treated with 6.56 parts of anhydrous sodium acetate. 5.02 parts of the sodium salt of 2,6-dichloropyrimidine-5-sulfons are then added to the solution obtained:
acid, the preparation of which is described below, and heats the reaction mixture for some time to 60 to 65 for complete acylation of the amino group. After cooling, the dye formed is deposited by adding 60 parts of sodium chloride.
The dye thus obtained dyes cotton in bluish red shades. Preparation of 2,6-dichloropyrimidine-5-sulfonic acid 21 parts of 2,6-dioxy-pyrimidine-5-sulfochloride, which was prepared according to the information in French patent specification No. 1 188 439 by reacting uracil with chlorosulfonic acid, are refluxed with 75 parts of phosphorus oxychloride and 42 parts of phosphorus pentachloride until a clear solution is formed.
After the phosphorus oxychloride has been separated off, the 2,6-dichloropyrimidine-5-sulfochloride formed is distilled in vacuo. It boils below 12 mm Hg at 140 to 142; M.p. 97 to 99.
4.95 parts of 2,6-dichloropyrimidine-5-sulfonic acid chloride are dissolved in 100 parts of acetone and poured into 600 parts of water with vigorous stirring. The pH of the solution is kept between 6 and 7 by adding dropwise 1N sodium hydroxide solution. The hydrolysis is complete after 2 to 4 hours after approximately the theory of the 1N sodium hydroxide solution has been consumed.
The clear solution contains the sodium salt of 2,6-dichloro-pyrimidine-5-sulfonic acid and is conveniently evaporated to dryness at room temperature.
If, instead of the dyestuff described in Example 1, corresponding amounts of the dyestuffs listed in column 1I of the following table are used and the procedure as in Example 1 is used, dyes are obtained which dye cotton in the shades given in column III.
