Description

A method of shell enveloping a prismatic body with a sector-shaped section
circular and machine for the implementation of this process
The present invention relates to a method of enveloping in the form of a shell a prismatic body of section in the form of a circular sector, such as for example a portion of poured cheese having this shape and intended to be placed with other such portions in a round box.

The invention also relates to a machine for implementing this method.

It is known to form, for example in a honeycomb, a prismatic shell of section in the form of a circular sector, such as 1 in FIG. 1 in the accompanying drawing (shown without the fold lines), to introduce therein a body to be wrapped, in particular a pasty mass 2, such as processed cheese, for example, then place a triangular cover 3 (see fig. 2 ) on said body, resp. said mass, then to fold the edges of the shell at 4, over said cover.

This method of wrapping requires the use of two cuts, one to form the shell and the other to form the cover. They will for example be made of aluminum foil, or any other suitable material, and are cut in series from strips of corresponding width.

While the triangular lids can thus be obtained without waste by placing them side by side in staggered rows, this is not the case with the conventional profile of the cutout constituting the shell which, on the contrary, gives rise to notable losses.

The wrapping method according to the present invention aims to reduce these losses to a large extent and consists for this purpose in cutting the parts forming the shells side by side and oriented in the same direction in a strip of width corresponding to the length of the major axis of said parts, such that in the vicinity of one of the edges of the strip there are triangles of material which are recovered and used to form the covers.

The machine for implementing this method will include, in addition to the usual members, intended to form the shells and to introduce therein a body to be wrapped, a device capable of gripping the triangles of packaging material remaining between the parts of the latter. constituting the shell, to transport and deposit them one by one on the free face of the body inserted into the shell.

Fig. 3 of the accompanying drawing explains, by way of example, this method of proceeding.

In a strip 5 of wrapping material, such as aluminum foil or the like, a side cutout of the pieces 6, 6 ', etc. having a practically hexagonal profile, irregular, but symmetrical with respect to their major axis AB, transverse to the longitudinal direction of the strip 5. The profile of these cuts is conventional for this type of envelopment, the sector 7 by marking the constituent zone the bottom of the cell, i.e. the base of the triangular prism of the packed body.

It can be seen that between two successive cutouts 6, 6 'remains, in addition to a waste 8 in the upper part of the strip 5 in the drawn position, a triangular waste 9. However, due to the inclination of the lower edges (relative to in the drawing), of the cutouts 6, 6 ', this isosceles triangle at an angle at the top equal to that of the sector 7 of the base of the packaged body and moreover has a practically equivalent height. It therefore lends itself perfectly to constituting the cover 3 (see FIG. 2).

Having hitherto been considered as waste, the method according to the invention consists in recovering it with a view to forming the cover 3 thereof.

It is possible, either to keep its perfect triangular profile, despite the small base of the prism considered being curved, which forces said cover to be slightly folded back on itself in the angles opposite to the point of the triangle, or to provide an additional cutting tool, cutting it along the curved line 10 in broken lines.

Be that as it may, the process according to the invention saves, as can be seen, approximately 50 O / o of the usual waste.

I1 will be implemented by a molding-packaging machine of any known type, but comprising a device capable of gripping and transporting the waste 9 and of placing them on the free face of the body introduced into the shell.
