Trolley for transporting loads The present invention relates to a trolley for transporting loads comprising a substantially rectangular frame, the upper part of which forms an operating handle and the lower part is provided with wheels perpendicular to the frame, a transverse frame forming load plane and support feet on the ground of the truck when the latter is kept at rest.
Trolleys of this type are used in particular in stations, by porters, or in stores for transporting boxes. These trolleys are intended for the transport of sometimes very high loads and are therefore particularly generous in size. They are heavy, unsightly and hardly suitable for the transport of goods or luggage by individuals. In addition, their size is quite large, which does not allow them to be stored in relatively small premises where, on the other hand, they could be the object of frequent use.
There are known shopping trolleys which differ from the previous ones mainly in that their load plan is completed with an enclosure so as to constitute a basket for the bulk goods that the housewife is called upon to transport. These carts generally have relatively small dimensions and their weight is low: on the other hand, they are sufficiently bulky to cause some inconvenience inside modern apartments which do not allow the transport of parcels or suitcases of large dimensions. .
The present invention proposes to overcome these various drawbacks and, to this end, has for object a cart for transporting loads comprising a substantially rectangular frame, the upper part of which forms an operating handle and the lower part is provided with wheels perpendicular to the frame, a transverse frame forming a load plane and feet for supporting the carriage on the ground when the latter is kept at rest. This carriage is characterized in that at least the wheels and the frame are arranged and disposed so as to be able to be tilted into a retracted position, these elements then being contained in a plane corresponding substantially to that of the frame.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the present invention. 1 is a side elevation; fig. 2 a plan view; fig. 3 is a front elevation in another position of some of its elements; fig. 4 is a section along IV-IV of FIG. 1, the wheels of the carriage having, however, the folded position visible in FIG. 3; fig. 5 is a detailed view on a larger scale of FIG. 2.
The carriage shown comprises a substantially rectangular frame consisting of a U-shaped frame 1, the two branches of which are joined by four traverses 2a to 2d connected to each other by three between longitudinal and parallel rods 3a to 3c.
The horizontal part of the frame 1 connecting the two branches of the U that it constitutes is covered by a tubular sheath 4 so as to form a handle for operating the carriage.
The lower ends of the vertical branches of the frame 1 are each engaged in a tube element 5 to which is fixed a fork 6 carrying between these branches a wheel 7, preferably made of rubber.
As shown in fig. 4, the element 2d previously described crosses right through the tubular frame 1 of the frame of the carriage and forms a fixing member for a tubular spring 8 disposed inside the mature frame 1 and the element of tube 5 to which it is fixed by a part 8a.
It is therefore this spring which makes the connection between the armature 1 and the wheel 7 and this wheel can be displaced angularly with respect to this armature, against the spring 8, by a corresponding movement of the tubular element. 5.
It can be seen in the drawing that the wheel 7 can be arranged in two different angular positions: this is how in FIGS. 1 and 2 each wheel extends perpendicularly to the plane formed by the frame of the carriage while in fig. 3 these wheels occupy a position perpendicular to the previous one and are substantially contained in the plane of said frame.
Locking of the wheels in one or the other of these two positions is obtained by engaging the ends of the spacers 2d in corresponding cutouts Sa made on the upper edge of the tubular elements 5 to which the wheels 7 are fixed.
Each element 5 carries, in the plane containing the corresponding wheel 7, a tab 9 having the general shape of L, the shortest branch of which is directed towards the ground and carries an elastic buffer 9a. Each tab 9 is therefore foldable in the same way as the wheel which is integral with it and has, on its side face, facing the other tab, an iron 10 intended to form a support for a grid 11 constituting the load plane of the cart.
This grid is formed by a substantially rectangular frame, 11a, (fig. 2) in the opening of which are arranged three parallel spacers 11b and which articulated on the frame 1 so as to be able to be carried either in the raised position of FIG. 3 or in the folded one of FIGS. 1 and 2, position in which the grid 11 rests by the lateral sides of the frame 11a on the irons 10 previously mentioned.
It is obviously in this position of the grid 11 and the feet 9 that it will be possible to load the cart with parcels and to transport them by tilting it slightly around the wheels 7 in a counterclockwise direction in FIG. 1.
To reduce the carriage, on the contrary, the articulated elements would be folded down as illustrated in FIG. 3.
The carriage is preferably made of aluminum and is therefore particularly light. It can of course be made of any other metal.
As a variant, it would be possible to complete the cart by associating with the frame 1 folding elements making it possible to form a wall projecting around the periphery of the grid 11: in this way a shopping cart will be obtained.
In another variant, not shown, the trolley could be constituted by an assembly of metal rods coated with a layer of colored plastic material, this coating could be affixed, once the trolley is mounted, by soaking the trolley in a bath. of liquid plastic material or by vaporization.
