Process for the preparation of basic azo dyes The invention relates to a process for the preparation of basic azo dyes of the formula
EMI0001.0008
in which A is the residue of an azo dye free of sulfonic acid groups, y is a direct bond or a divalent radical, R1 is an optionally substituted hydrocarbon residue, or,
together with y and the S atom, or together with y, the coupling component of A and the S atom, a heterocyclic ring system, n denotes the number 1 or 2 and anion O, the equivalent of an anion, denoted by
d'ass one mole of a compound of formula
EMI0001.0023
where B stands for the remainder of a couplable compound and R1 signifies an optionally substituted hydrocarbon radical, or, together with y and the S atom, or, together with y, B and the S atom,
can form a heterocyclic ring system, couples with 1 mol of a di.azonium salt, the D, iazonium salt and the coupling component being free from sulfonic acid groups.
When. Azo dyes which are free from sulfonic acid group: n are also dis- or polyazo dyes. These can contain coordinatively bonded metal atoms.
The dyes mentioned can additionally have a cycloimmonium group or an external ammonium, isothiouronium or hydrazine group in the dye radical A.
Such dyes, which contain at least one of the groups mentioned, are, for example, in German Patent Nos. 1011396 and 1 044 023, in German Auslegeschrift No. 1,045,969, in the Belgian patents nos. 630895, 633447, 638 438, 639 981, 645 280, in the French patent specification No. 1325176 and the French additional patent specification No.
81967 for French patent specification no. 1325 176.
The azo coupling can be carried out in a known manner, advantageously in a weakly alkaline to acidic, optionally buffered, medium.
Anion9 is understood to mean both organic and organic ions, such as B. methyl sulfate, sulfate, disulfate, perchlorate, chloride, bromide, iodide, phosphate, phosphorus molybdate, phosphotungsten molybdate, B, .nzenesulfonate, 4-chlorobenzenesulfonate, oxalate or Malenations.
A.ls bridge member y are particularly divalent hydrocarbon radicals, such as optionally substituted alkylene, alkenylene or arylene radicals, such as phenylene or naphthylene radicals, the alkylene or alkenylene radicals being replaced by heteroatoms, such as, for.
B. can be interrupted by oxygen, nitrogen or sulfur atoms and by arylene radicals .. y can also mean the direct bond or, however, preferably an optionally substituted methylene group or a divalent radical bonded to the adjacent S atom via one such .
B. - (CH2) i, -, where p is the number 1 to 6, -CHs-CH-CHs, -NH-CO-CHs-, -NH-CO-C @ H4-, -OC..HE -, -CO-C2H4-, -CO-NH-C3Hc-, -CO-NH-C2H.1-, -CO-O-C9H4-, SO2 - C., H.1-, -O-C2H4- , -NH-Arylalkyl-NH-CH .--, -NH-CH # - CHOH-CH-- "-SO2-NH-C2H (;
, NH-CO-NH-OC @ H4-, -NI-CO-CHs-SC-, H4-, NH-CO-CH = CH-CH2-, -CH2-CHOH-CH2-, -O-CO-C2H4 -, -C2H4-O-CO-CH2-, -CH2-NH-CO-CH2-, - (CH2) n-NH- (CH2) q-, where q stands for the number 1 to 6,
EMI0002.0009
But y can also form a heterocyclic ring system together with R1 and the S atom or together with A or B and the S atom, such as. B. a thiomorpholine, dihydrothiophene or optionally partially hydrogenated thionaphthene ring.
Optionally substituted hydrocarbon radicals are to be understood as meaning optionally substituted alkyl, phenyl, naphthyl or cycloalkyl radicals, such as. B. methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, hydroxyethyl, chloroethyl, cyanoethyl, cyclohexyl etc.
The connec tions of the formula (II) can be obtained, for example, by using a compound of the formula B- (y-S-R1). with an optionally substituted halogenamine. The reaction is preferably carried out in an organic solvent and at temperatures from -50 to +80 C.
The reaction can also be carried out in an aqueous medium, optionally with the addition of an organic solvent at the temperatures mentioned above, it being possible for the haloamine to be used either in gaseous form or in an organic solvent or in water or in mixtures thereof.
The azo dyes which can be prepared according to the invention can, for example, be benzene-azo-benzene, benzene-azo-naphthalene, benzene-azo-pyrazolone, benzene-azo-aminopyrazole, benzene-azo-acyl acylacetic acid-arylamide, the benzene azo-phenol-, the thiazole-azo-benzene-, the thiadiazole-azo-benzene-,
the thiadiazole-azo-naphthalene or the thiadiazole-azo-pyrazalonrei'he, etc. belong. A% substituents in these azo compounds are preferred:
Hydroxyl, halogen, such as chlorine, bromine, fluorine, nitrile, nitro, optionally substituted alkyl, alkylsulfonyl, sulfonamide, carbalkoxy, carboxamide, alkoxy or carbalkoxy groups,
also the carboxylic acid group and esters of the carboxylic acid and sulfonic acid group, etc.
The dyes formed are separated off from the reaction medium after one of the customary basic operations such as filtering, evaporation and filtration, precipitation in a suitable medium and filtration.
The new dyes are preferably used for dyeing, padding or printing fibers, threads or textiles made from them, which consist of or contain acrylonitrile polymers or mixed polymers, in strong shades which have good light and wet fastness properties, in particular good washing, Welding, subliming, pleating, ironing, water,
Have sea water and bleach fastness.
Acrylonitrile polymers are to be understood as meaning, in particular, polymers with more than 80% acrylonitrile; Acrylic: nitrile copolymers are generally copolymers of 80-95% acrylonitrile and 20-5% vinyl acetate, vinyl pyridine, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, acrylic acid, acrylic acid ester, methacrylic acid,
Methacrylic acid esters ETC.
These fibers can be dyed in a mixture with others. Dyeing with the claimed dyes is advantageously carried out in an aqueous medium, it being advisable to work in a neutral or acid medium at boiling temperature.
The use of commercially available retarders is not a problem, although: the new dyes are particularly suitable for achieving very level colorations on the abovementioned polymers even without a retarder.
Of course, the staining can also be carried out in a closed vessel at elevated temperature and under pressure. With the dyes according to the definition, mixed fabrics which contain a polyacrylonitrile fiber, e-part can also be dyed very well.
They are also suitable for dyeing polyacrylonitrsl in bulk in lightfast and wet-fast shades and for dyeing oils, lacquers, plastic compounds, plastics and plastic solutions that are spun into threads and polyesters modified by acidic groups or polyolefins.
Furthermore, the new dyes for dyeing cotton, such as. Tauned cotton, walle, silk, cellulose, such as. B. regenerated cellulose, synthetic polyamide fibers and paper in every manufacturing stage as well as leather.
It has been shown that mixtures of two or more dyes of the formula (I) can also advantageously be used.
In the following example, parts mean percentages by weight, parts and percentages are percentages by weight. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Example For an ethereal solution of chloramine, as described in e.g.
B. in Angewandte Chemie 72, 128 (1960) described method is obtained, adding 42 parts of N ethyl-N (äthylmercaptoäthyl) -aminobenzod, left to stand overnight, filtered the precipitated precipitate, washed with ether, filtered, dried and the product recrystallizes from a mixture of alcohol and ether.
A diazonium chloride solution prepared in a customary manner from 8.65 parts of 1-amino-2-chloro-4-nitrobenzene is coupled to an aqueous solution of 14.5 parts of the preparation obtained in this way, neutralized with sodium acetate and a little sodium chloride is added. The dye which precipitates out gives polyacrylonitrile a deep red color.
Dyeing instructions 20 parts of the dye obtained according to the example are first intimately mixed with 80 parts of dextrin in a ball mill for 48 hours.
Then 1 part: of the preparation obtained in this way is mixed with 1 part of 40% esaetic acid solution, 400 parts of 60 parts of distilled water are poured over the pulp while shaking continuously and the whole thing is briefly boiled.
It is diluted again with 7000 parts of distilled water, 2 parts of glacial acetic acid are added and 100 parts of Orion (registered trademark) are added to the dye bath at 60.
The material was pretreated for 10 to 15 minutes at 60 in a bath of 8,000 parts water and 2 parts glacial acetic acid. It is now heated to 100 within 30 minutes, boiled for 1 hour and rinsed. A level red dyeing of excellent light fastness and very good wet fastness properties is obtained.
