Suction device for venting molds of die casting machines The present invention relates to a suction device for venting the molds of die casting machines with a suction connection placed on the mold and sealingly enclosing the mouth of the ventilation channel and with a valve body arranged in the connection so that it can move forward to prevent the casting material through the connection.
In a known device of this type, the valve body can be placed on the outlet opening of the venting channel so that it closes tightly against the action of a spring by means of a hydraulic device. The problem with such a device is the control of the hydraulic device for closing the valve. It is important to ensure that the ventilation channel is closed when, on the one hand, the casting mold is free of air and gas and, on the other hand, the space of the casting mold is completely filled with casting material.
The aim is to keep the vacuum suction line open as long as possible, whereby the aim is to prevent casting material from getting into the vacuum suction line.
A shut-off device of a different type, which is permanently connected to the casting mold, has also become known, in which the shut-off device is controlled and actuated directly by the casting material. The shut-off element is pressed against the action of a spring against a seat in the housing in this latter device. The spring force must be relatively large in order to dampen the impact against the seat. This means that when the casting material hits the shut-off member, the shut-off takes place with a certain delay, and it is to be expected that the casting material will enter the suction line behind the seat.
Precautions must therefore be taken here to enable the casting material that has got behind the seat to be removed.
The present invention aims to provide a Vorrich device of the type mentioned while avoiding the disadvantages mentioned. This purpose is achieved in that the valve body can be displaced into a closed position against the action of a restoring force by the casting material emerging from the vent channel, in which the same rests on a resilient stop.
This makes it possible to keep the restoring force minimal, the valve body, which preferably itself has a very small inertia, is pushed very quickly into its closed position by means of the casting material, without the casting material reaching or behind the termination point.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawing, which shows a section of a suction connection placed on the mold.
In the figure, the fixed mold plate 1 and the displaceable mold plate 2 of a die-casting machine, not shown in detail, are partially shown. The mold is provided with a channel which extends outwardly along the mold parting plane and which connects the mold cavity to an evacuation device (not shown) via a suction connection 4 placed on the mold.
The suction connection 4 has a cylindrical housing 5, on whose end facing away from the shape the piston rod 6 of a fluid-actuated, double-acting working cylinder 7 (partially shown) engages. The working cylinder 7 is attached to the fixed mold plate 1 by means of a bracket 28. The axes of the working cylinder 7 and the suction connection are in alignment with the axis of the channel 3.
The cylindrical housing 5 of the suction connection has a passage controllable by a valve body 8 and is placed with its annular end face 9, sealingly around the mouth of the channel 3, by means of the working cylinder 7 on the mold.
The valve body 8 is slidably guided in a coaxial to the axis of the housing 5 and at the mouth of the channel 3 offe NEN recess and extends forward against the mouth of the channel to near the front end of the housing 5: The recess has a conical section 10, which converges towards the rear and is connected to the mouth of the channel 3, to which a cylindrical section 11 connects, which merges into an enlarged bore 12. The bore 12 is connected to the evacuation device, not shown, with a channel 13 running transversely to it.
The section 11 is set off somewhat inwardly in relation to the section 10.
The valve body has a shaft 14, at the front end of which a closing piston 15 is arranged. The piston 15 is cylindrical and, in the open position of the valve body shown in the figure, lies completely in section 10 of the recess, with its front end protruding slightly from the mold surface and its rear end at a small distance from the transition between sections 10 and 11 so that the passage leading through the suction seal is open. The front end of the piston is recessed in a concave manner.
The outer dimension of the piston, which is circular in cross section, is dimensioned such that it can be pushed back into the section 11, the wall of the section 11 then enclosing the piston snugly.
At a distance from the piston 15, the shaft 14 has a radial flange 16, from whose surface facing the shape protrude radial ribs 17 with which the Ven tilkörper rests in its open position against a shoulder of the housing. To the rear, the shaft extends into a smaller diameter than the bore 12 in which the shaft is guided.
To reduce its mass, the stem of the valve body is recessed into the area of the closing piston on the inside. A fixedly arranged bolt 18 in the rear part of the Ge housing 5 protrudes through the rear open end of the valve body into its central area. In the space between the shaft 14 and the bolt 18, a relatively soft helical spring 19 is arranged, which is supported on the one hand on the housing and on the other hand via washers on a Schul ter of the shaft.
The spring 19 serves to apply the restoring force for the valve body in order to hold it in its open position in which its ribs 17 rest against the housing. The bias of the spring 19 can be determined by the number of washers.
In the space between the wall of the enlarged bore 12 and the shaft 14, a disk spring assembly 20 is arranged, which is supported on the one hand on the housing and on the other hand on the flange 16 of the valve body. The disc spring assembly serves as a resiliently flexible stop for the valve body in its closed position. In the open position of the valve body, the plate spring assembly is completely relieved, with even some play between the plate springs.
The total axial play of the disk spring assembly corresponds at least to the minimum closing stroke of the valve body.
The method of operation of the device described is as follows: The suction connection is placed on the mold and pressed against it in a sealing manner. The valve body is in its open position shown in the figure and the mold cavity is in communication with the evacuation device. The actual casting process can now take place.
The casting material injected into the mold penetrates through the mold cavity into the evacuation channel and strikes the concave end face of the closing piston of the valve body. Thanks to the design described, the valve body, so to speak, offers no resistance to the casting material, and it is therefore pushed back very quickly into its closed position in the narrowed section 11. This prevents casting material from entering the passage behind the piston.
Only when the valve body has reached its closed position, in which the closing piston closes the passage from the area of the evacuation channel into the area of the vacuum connection, does the disc spring assembly located between the flange and the housing come into a spring-effective close fit.
This disk spring package has a strongly increasing spring force characteristic and prevents the valve body from pushing back too far, especially during the casting phase with increased after pressure after the final mold filling and simultaneous cooling. When the pouring process is complete, the mold is opened.
At the same time, the spring for applying the restoring force moves the valve body forward into the rest position, ejected solidified casting material from section 10 and ejecting it alone or together with the die casting. A new pouring process can begin.
Significant advantages of this device are that the casting process, especially in the evacuation channel, does not have to be monitored in all phases and the result of this monitoring has to be evaluated to control the suction connection and that the valve body does not strike hard against a closing surface when it is moved into the closed position ,
but is immediately braked elastically and in this way no damage to the sealing surface is caused even when large back pressures occur.
Without departing from the inventive idea, the use of other elastic elements is easily possible. A hydrostatic element can be installed instead of a disk spring assembly. A pneumatic element can also be used instead of the soft return coil spring thanks to the compressibility of gases that it gives.
